We pray to Mary and the saints, because James told us to pray for one another and that the prayer of a person is just very powerful. We ask Mary and the saints in heaven to pray for us. ALSO Catholics pray directly to God through Jesus' name. Catholics do not pray to idols. We confess our sins to a priest because Jesus gave his disciples hte authority to forgive and retain sins (John 20: 21-23). In order for the priest to forgive sins in the name of Jesus, the priest should hear what they are sins.

I'm not Catholic. However, - the Catholics do what they do because it works for them. Makes them better people. We also like this - because they have been taught that it is the right way. As has been shown that their way is the right way. Pssssst. There is no right way. God is love. It's best if we all enthusiasts. You do not really know what Jesus said. The Bible has been translated and twisted and changed. My thought is this .... While the people are good people - there is really no reason to ask him why we do things the way they do in a judgmental way. Namaste!

1 Timothy 2:1-4, Paul exhorts Christians to intercede for many different things, and that step is not unique in his writings. Elsewhere Paul directly asks others to pray for him (Rom. 15:30-32, Eph. 6:18-20, Col. 4:3, 1 Thess. 5:25, 2 Thes. 3:1) and said he was praying for them, and (2 Thess. 1:11). More fundamentally, Jesus himself required us to pray for others and not just for those who asked us to do so (Matthew 5:44). Since the practice of asking others to pray for us is so highly recommended in Scripture can not be regarded as superfluous on the basis that one can go directly to Jesus. The New Testament is not recommended if there are no benefits from it. One of those benefits is that faith and devotion of the saints can support our own weaknesses and supply what is lacking in our own faith and devotion. Jesus regularly to a person on the basis of the faith of another person (eg, Matt. 8:13, 15:28, 17:15-18, Mark 9:17-29, Luke 8:49-55). And it goes without saying that those in heaven, free from the body and the distractions of this life, have even greater confidence and devotion to God than anyone on earth. Also, in particular, God answers the prayers of the righteous. Santiago said: "The prayer of the righteous is powerful in its effects. Elijah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months no rain on the earth. Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and brought off the land "(Jas. 5:16-18). However, Christians in heaven are more righteous, since they have to be perfect in God's presence (Heb. 12:22-23), that nobody in the ground, ie, their prayers would be even more effective. Confession: This sacrament is based on the mission that God gave to Christ as the Son of man on earth and will forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowd who witnessed this new power "glorified God who had given such authority to men" (Matthew 9:8; note the plural "men"). After his resurrection, Jesus went on his mission to forgive the sins of his ministers, saying: "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you .... Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins are forgiven them, if retengáis, they are retained "(John 20:21-23).

What is prayer? Answer - - a conversation unknown by anyone. Since prayer is just talking in the air, what is the difference that you do not hear? Another way of looking at it. If you married a wonderful man, would you say that it is improper to talk with your mother? As to confess sins to a priest. In medieval days, the whole world knew that the priest in the city. He parishioners to pump all the dirt that normally hide. In this way, he knew that the center of most of the secrets of all. Imagine the power it gave to the people. Especially considering that he could be sent to heaven or hell, what a caring a.

There are all symbols of the Christian religions. Why do priests and ministers at all. Are unnecessary and self serving. The symbols are used to focus the mind and prayer. Do not pray to Mary, but he thanked her for bringing Jesus to the world and be an example of purity. It is an ideal to aspire to. Praying to saints is again asking for help from those who carry out God's work. Let's face it, there are plenty of people in the world and God needs help!

Catholics are not encouraged to make reading the Bible, which makes it easier for leaders to tell them anything, including teaching them to pray to Mary and Jesus, ignoring the instructions not to call any man "father" in a religious sense. Jesus taught his followers to pray to his Father only through him (Jesus). Matt. 6:9, John 14:6. Catholics can not see that.
