*** *** Confused Is it true that the Catholic Church forbids priests to marry?
Catholic Tradition - the prohibition of the priesthood to marry.
I think it is wrong to ban God's people to marry if the marriage has given him for that with thanksgiving.
1 Timothy
4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils;
4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
2) Peter was married (remember that the Pope is supposed to continue the apostolic line through Peter).
Matthew
8:14 And when Jesus went to Peter's house, saw the mother of this post, and sick with fever.
Mark
1:30 but the wife of Simon's mother lay sick with fever, and spoke with him after that.
Lucas
4:38 And rising from the synagogue and entered Simon's house. AND WIFE Simon mother was taken with a fever, and begged for it.
3) Paul, a great apostle is still unique, but made it clear that he could marry if he wanted.
1 Corinthians
9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife and the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
QUESTION # 2: Also, if you want to answer the following, please answer the first as well, since it is the most important in my mind:
Revere / worship images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, people worship the eucharist and have statues / candles in their homes and churches.
The Bible says it is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to do.
Exodus
20:4 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
20:5 You will not bow thyself to them nor serve them, for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God …
Help?
- Why do Catholic priests are unmarried when the "first Pope" was married ….?
- Should the Roman Catholic Church to allow priests to marry?
- For Catholics? .. Why is it that Catholic priests are not allowed to marry?
- Catholic priests and Christians not Marry?
- Is it true that non-Catholic Christians can not understand that Mary is not adored, worshiped only.

No, it is true that the Church forbids anyone to marry. Priests take the decision not to marry. The Church encourages all people to marry and have children, but says they must be married or single. God bless!

Note:
Catholics do not worship anything or anyone but God.
We worship and idolize the Eucharist, because it is truly, really and substantially the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord.
You are lying about the Catholic reverence for the Blessed Virgin in worship.
Note:
Why is it that Catholic priests are the least of a clergy who exploit children by a wide margin, whether the lack of marriage is the reason that some have done?
Note:
Celibate priests is an established discipline in the 12th century. This is NOT a doctrine of the Church. Disciplines can be changed, the doctrines can not.
This is a bit my personal opinion, but I think that Catholicism is a fusion of pagan religions of Europe and Roman Christianity, which goes along with the saint all / Virgin Mary / image / Lo rosary.
But I totally agree with you. The Catholic Church does not really go along with the Bible.
You sound like me. I also speak with a forked Toung. I try not to talk like that. but I can not help it sometimes.
If you do …. yes ….. if you do you speak like me, always thinking he knows more than everyone else.
but we are wrong.
Priests and nuns are not allowed to marry. If you are on the right is a lot of wrong being done, a lot of breaking the Ten Commandments.
Yes, indeed. It banned a long long time ago. When the Church has participated in all the scandals and things (not that it is now). I'm Catholic, but that's one aspect I do not like it.
The Roman Catholic Church does not allow priests to marry, but I think many of the Eastern Churches allow married men-and to be priests.
Again, no confusion … are too narrow minded to begin to understand.
Yes, I prohibit it. Han ordine some priests, although already married.
you can not marry after his ordination
And if someone wants to marry YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PRIEST! Pretty simple
GRAVEN INAGER - WHAT'S YOUR AVATAR Dork - SAME THING!
HAVE YOU EVER knelt beside his bed or a loved one - GET A CLUE
Yeah, well I guess that's why we are not Catholic.
yes.
These are some of the reasons why I am not a Catholic …
>> I think it is wrong to ban the people of God to marry
Good for you. But the real answer to your question is still yes.
>> Arcos Pope to statues of Mary, the adoration of the people
>> Eucharist
Wow, a "Catholics are idolaters" thread! I have not seen one of the more than 45 minutes.
Well, see, what we believe is that marriage here on earth is to prepare for our marriage, "" with Christ in our next life. A new intimate relationship with him where we are closer.
I think the reason is that priests have already committed and in an intimate relationship with Christ, but that's only because it is what God has called us to. If someone were to be called to a life of devotion, it is only because God does not mean for them to be married.
The tradition of priests is only the canon law, not a dogma, which means it is not written in stone and could change. Married priests is not biblical per se (ie, Peter was married), but is much biblical and historical evidence celibate priests. One thing is certain. A family man has to put his family first, not the Church. That leads to a dilemma, if it is a PASTOR priest puts God and the first church.
Writing awards celibacy consistently greater spiritual vocation of marriage.
… is good to remain unmarried as I am … is so that you can remain as you are … not seeking a woman … who refrains from marriage will be better … (I Cor., 7-8 and 32-38)
Paul says that celibacy provides "unhindered devotion to the Lord." (1 Corinthians 7:35) Jesus tells us that "it is better not to marry … that no one can accept that. " (Matthew 19:10-12)
In Jewish law of the priesthood was passed by blood relationship and marriage was necessary, but still, the Jews of the Old Testament priests were required to abstain from sex during periods when serving in the Temple for spiritual reasons. Catholic priests serving in the temple every day.
Scripture verses rating celibacy
Matthew 19:10-12
… his disciples said: "If such is the case of a man with his wife, is better not to marry." But he said: "Not everyone can accept this teaching, but only those to whom it is given. Because there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. Someone who can accept this. "
1 Corinthians 7:6-9
… This I say by way of concession, not of command. I wish all men were even as I am. But each has a special gift from God, one with a guy and a different kind. To the unmarried and the widows I say it's okay to remain unmarried as I am. But if they are not practicing self-control, they should marry. Why is it better to marry than burn with passion.
1 Corinthians 7:24-35
… In any condition called, brothers and sisters are with God. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord, but give my opinion as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy. I think that in view of the impending crisis, it is good for you to remain as you are. Do you have to a woman? Do not try to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife … However, those who marry will experience distress in this life, and I would like to spare. I mean, brothers and sisters, the time is short, from now on, let even those who have wives be as though they had none, but the married man cares for worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin is concerned about the affairs of the Lord, that they may be holy in body and spirit, but the married woman is anxious about the affairs of the world, how to please her husband. I say this to their advantage, not to put any restrictions on you, but to promote good order and unhindered devotion to the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:38-40
… Then the man who marries his fiancee does well, and he who refrains from marriage will do better. A wife is bound while her husband lives. But if the husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, only in the Lord. But my view is more blessed, if left as is.

Used to be that priests could marry … several hundred years ago, one of the Pope issued a decree that priests should be chaste, I forget why. Since then, the power to restore the rights of priests to marry has been supported by the current pope, but it is very rare for a sitting Pope to revoke a church doctrine.
Priestly celibacy is biblical:
Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the church practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift to his chosen waiver.
Matt. 19:29 - Jesus says that whoever gives children for the sake of his name, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. Jesus praises celibacy when it is done for the sake of his kingdom.
Matt. 22:30 - Jesus explains that in heaven there is no marriage. To achieve the kingdom of Jesus on earth, the priests live the consecration to God in heaven by not having a wife in marriage. In this way, priests are able to focus exclusively on the spiritual family, and not have any additional pressure of the biological family (which is the vocation of marriage). This also makes it easier for priests to be transferred to different parishes where they are needed without having to worry about the impact of their transfer to the wife and children.
1 Corinthians 7:1 - Paul teaches that it is good that a man touching a woman. This is an option for Catholic priests of the Roman rite freely make.
1 Cor. 7:7 - Paul also acknowledges that celibacy is a gift from God and wants all were celibate like he is.
1 Cor. 7:27 - Paul teaches men not to seek marriage. In Paul's opinion, marriage introduces world temptations that can interfere with one's relationship with God, specifically in relation to those who will be full-time ministers of the Church.
1 Cor. 7:32-33, 38 - Paul recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church so as to be able to concentrate fully to God and building His kingdom. The "who refrains from marriage will do better."
1 Tim. 3:2 - Paul instructs that bishops must be married only once. Many Protestants use this verse to prove that the law of celibacy in the Church is wrong. But they are mistaken because this verse refers to bishops that were widowers. Paul is the instruction that these widowers could not remarry. The verse also refers to those bishops who were currently married. Moreover, he could not remarry (in the Eastern Rite Catholic Church, priests are allowed to marry, celibacy is only a rule of discipline for the clergy of the Roman Rite). Therefore, this text has nothing to do with imposing a marriage requirement on becoming a bishop.
1 Tim. 4:3 - this verse, Paul refers to deceitful doctrines that forbid marriage. Many non-Catholics also use this verse to challenge the church practice of celibacy. This is completely wrong, because the Catholic Church (unlike many Protestant churches) exalts marriage to a sacrament. In fact, virginity, marriage is elevated to a sacrament, but not enshrined. The Church declares marriage sacred, alliance and giver of life. Paul refers to doctrines that forbid marriage and other goods when done outside the teaching of Christ and to a lessor good. Celibacy is an act of giving up a good (marriage and children) for a union greater good (complete spiritual with God).
1 Tim. 5:9-12 - Paul recommends that older widows have a commitment to celibacy. This was the beginning of religious orders.
2 Tim. 2:3-4 - Paul instructs his bishop Timothy that no soldier on service gets entangled in civilian activities, as they aim to satisfy his one who enlisted him. Paul is using an analogy to describe the role of celibacy in the Church.
Rev. 14:4 - unlike our sinful world of the flesh, in heaven, they honor those consecrated to virginity.
Isaiah 56:3-7 - the eunuchs who keep God's covenant will have a special place in the kingdom of heaven.
Jer. 16:1-4 - God tells Jeremiah not have a wife or children.
The idea is that when you have a family that one has the responsibility of the family that may conflict with the responsibilities of his priesthood. Remember that Roman Catholic priests are believed to be mediators between God and man (unlike we Protestants do not believe that our minsters as such).
As for the veneration of images …. they say they are not worshiping the images, but shows a lower form of respect.
I agree with you that have bad positions on both issues …. but his way of thinking about these things is completely different from a Protestant viewpoint. Also remember that Catholics …. tradition is also inspired by God and equal to that of Scripture. They do not believe that Scripture is the final word.
I agree with the marriage. Priests used to marry, but that was changed for centuries, when the church was more corrupt politicians than it is now. Married priests were to amass large fortunes, and then leaving their children. The Church then realized that if you have no heirs, they would have to leave his fortune to her, the Church.
However, a standard which needs to be changed.
You are off base in # 2, however.
Catholics do not worship images. We worship God through the risen Christ and nothing else. We understand the difference between worship and veneration.
If you follow Exodus 20:4, literally, the best thing is to get rid of all their pictures or representations of crosses, images of Jesus, so also are graven images.
In the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, married men can not be priests. In Thye Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church can. This is not a question doictrinal. It is merely a rule of the Church has done for the benefit of his priesthood, following the biblical advice of Paul, who strongly rercommended those entering full time ministry remain unmarried as he did, for fear of being divided between the responsibilities of marriage and family cope with the responsibilities of the ministry. The biblical prohibition against marriage ban refers to a general ban on marriage for all. It has nothing to do with the marital status of the priests, who can freely choose when they decide to become priests.
The Bible does not say that worship is idolatry, or people's images. Apparewntly You do not recognize the enormous difference between the veneration, which means honor and respect, against religion, which belongs only to God. The Catholic Church utterly condemns all forms of idolatry as "incompatible with Christian life, which might have discovered for themselves, just by looking in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, under the" idolatry ". Also the Bible does not forbid making images. The two verses cited are part of a single statement. We are not make and worship images. Personally I do not know anybody so stupid as to worship an inanimate object. Do you?
Many Christian religions have sets and ridiculous the laws of their own place. And if you break one of them or look at someone with the eyes of the Cross.? Its out of there.
Not married? leads? Well, you know. Also remember that calls a lot of religions do not practice what it preaches.
Catholic tradition is mild compared to some others. But you are right 100%. Brother.
