The Apostle Paul is explicit about his celibacy (cf. 1 Cor. 7). There is also evidence in the Gospel of Matthew for the practice of celibacy among at least some of the early Christians, in the famous passage about becoming "eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:12).
The concept took many twists and turns in recent years and probably a bit more before Christ returns in glory.
A priest is "married" with the Church. Some people think that a priest who takes his duties seriously can not take good care of his wife and family. "A man can not serve two masters."

Catholic priests are not allowed to marry, but the Church will allow the ministers of other faiths to convert and become priests. I think we should allow priests to marry. Could reduce a lot of problems and bad press! (those who still think that only Catholics have sexual abuse problems are back, after everything that you can not complain, because the Halloween is over now!)
