Several people here have made good points. Sola scriptura, for example, as someone mentioned, it is considered unbiblical (see, for example, 2 Thess. 2:15). But you can ask specific Bible verses, so I will do my best to accommodate. 1. Holy water - a sacred one is consecrated to the service of God. See Numbers 5:17. Furthermore, water the water of Jordan, which John used to be holy baptism. 2. Confession to a priest - For starters, we have the tradition of the Old Testament. The Israelites could pray to God directly, however, when they have committed a sin, he goes to a priest, confess, and to offer sacrifices (Lev. 5:6-7). Also in the New Testament, there is John 20:21-23 where the apostles are given this role. 3. Altar Call - I've never seen an altar call, I think that is something that traditionally Protestant. However, I do not see as unbiblical. The point of them is the community. Our faith must involve God, to ourselves, and a community of believers. Worship together, pray together, break bread together, confess before them (Acts 2:42, 19:18). I can not find, but there is a verse that says we should worship together, because we are stronger in faith that way. If used appropriately, seems to be an altar called a way of promoting the community needed. 4. Worship of Mary - Catholics do not worship Mary. The Hail Mary directly quotes the Bible (Luke 1:28, 42). The last part of the prayer, "Holy Mary, pray for our sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen "comes from the Catechism of the Council of Trent. It is not religion, is to ask to pray for us that you can ask a friend to pray for you. 5. Rosario - First, do not worship them (I've heard it said), we have them. The prayers themselves are biblical. The count against them as "pointless and repetitive," is answered by the Church: "[This] ... objection is felt by none but those who could not see how the whole spirit of this exercise lies in the meditation of the fundamental mysteries of our faith .... the words of the angelic salutation form only a kind of semi-conscious accompaniment ... we can compare to [repeatedly] "Holy, Holy, Holy" [Rev 4:8] of the heavenly choirs and surely not in itself meaningless. " 6. Infant baptism - Firstly, this also has its precedent in the Old Testament. Jewish baby boys were circumcised before they ever had the opportunity to affirm their faith (Gen. 17:12). Then in the New Testament there are examples of all households to be baptized when he became head of that household (Acts 16:15, 33, 1 Corinthians 16). Any "home" almost certainly had children, and therefore should not be considered exempt. 7. Crucifix - In the Old Testament, God told Moses to make a bronze serpent and a lift in a stick over the Israelites. In John 3:14 Jesus interprets this: "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so the Son of man be lifted." The crucifix is thus the same type of symbol. We do not worship, but only its use as a reminder of the sacrifice of Christ. 8. Authority of the pope - first, there is the precedent of the Old Testament with Aaron is the first High Priest. Then in the NT, Jesus names Peter as the cornerstone of the Church (Matthew 16:18). Finally, in John 14:26 and 15:26-7 Jesus promised the Apostles that he would send the Holy Spirit to be with them to guide them in the truth. For this reason, we believe that the Pope, speaking as head of the Church in religious matters, in infallible. I know it's probably still disagree with many Catholic beliefs, but I hope they now have a better understanding of where we came from.

* Is Catholic * The Pope's authority does not do things right over. The papal authority only serves these things, and guarantees for them. That the authority of the Pope shown to be true, but the truth of things is not based on papal authority. Catholicism, as a dogmatic teaching is not a people of the book, but we are a people of the Word of God, who is Christ the Father and the Son. Functions of the Scripture is not the only definitions, religious truth, etc., but is rather a form of revelation and contains the words of God as the Holy Spirit to move men to write without mistakes in the words human and only what the Spirit so wished. Scripture is not the foundation of the Catholic faith, but the foundation is Christ. Writing is one of the pillars of faith. Scripture is therefore not used as "proof" but rather as support. In Catholicism is not a lack of harmony between faith and reason, such as the Catholic faith must also defend the evidence of philosophy, reason, history and science. We Catholics proclaim Christ not only with a quote from a book, but we preach Christ through our book, through the history of the world through philosophy, through our liturgical structure and through the very understanding of what being human. People have mentioned where to find the verses, let me give some rationale and can say if this rings true or is superior to Protestantism. 1. Holy water. What means something is made holy? This means that it has been in service to God and consecrated, which has been reserved for that task and that task alone. Can you do what holy water? Sure, we can take the water, bring to a priest (who is not a teacher but who intercedes with God) and ask him to devote so that water can be of service to God. Is it the holy water? Only if you believe that the God of Catholicism is God and that the priest is a priest. Why should I get holy water? Because of what is water, wash clean. Holy water is water which side to wash the body and soul. 2. Confession to a priest. This is easy if you understand that a priest is a priest, and not just a teacher and leader. A priest intercedes. If you believe that the priests of Christ created, then a priest can intercede on behalf of one, either in confession or during the Divine Liturgy. Priests do not need God? Rather, we need priests because we have to be picked up again in one human family and not all things to one another. 3. No Altar Alter. There is no such thing. In addition to the Protestant no altars, as no compromise. For Catholics, the conversion to Christ, takes place outside the Divine Liturgy, which is there to worship God. The altar is in the community of believers is already selected. 4. N Catholics worship Mary. The Hail Mary is taken from the Gospels. The Rosary was designed as the Liturgy of the Hours poor. 5. They help you keep track. Use your fingers if you like, not a problem. 6. Infant baptism. Baptism is a gift of grace. You can not win. Those who say that one must have faith first to say that you must earn the grace of baptism by faith. No, baptism is a pure gift. Furthermore, the responsibility of Catholic parents is to educate Catholic children. They can not do very well if your children are not baptized (which is what makes a Catholic). 7. Crucifix. Because that is how Christ died. Award of the crucifixion, death of the Messiah is found in prophecy in several places in the Old Testament, but if Christ was stoned to death would not have a man crush stones in Catholic Churches. One point I would like to ... an empty cross is a sign of the resurrection is a sign of impending death. The sign of the resurrection is the empty tomb. There are a lot of spiritual meanings of why we use the crucifix, but the underlying reason is the body, because that's what happened. 8. Pope's authority - quite complex because the Pope has more than just the papal authority. He is the Bishop of Rome, the Patriarch of the Roman Catholic Church, and Patriarch of the Catholic Church Universal. You need to pay attention to that authority is being used. The reason we have a unique leader is that the Papacy acts as a check for the rest of the bishops. The functions papacy as the final arbiter in theological questions and struggles between the bishops. In all human structures, the ball must stop somewhere. Christ decided, very deep spiritual reasons, that would leave Peter and his successors that.

Christianity is not, contrary to the claims of Protestantism, a "religion of the book. The Bible is not the norm of Christian faith. The Bible is the expression of the faith of the Christian Church. The Church came before the Bible and the Scriptures manifest the faith of the ancient Church founded by Christ. What this means is that you can not find the "answers" to the upstream (holy, confession, etc.) only in the Bible. Christianity is not based on a written word alone, but in the living word which is Jesus Christ, the Word of God incarnate. The main difference between Protestantism and Catholicism is that the former reduces the Christian faith in a book (librology perhaps speak of a "", ie the worship of a book), while the second recognizes that the Christian faith is based on a person, Jesus Christ, who conveyed the truth about himself and about the Holy Trinity of God to man through the apostles, and therefore through His Church. The Magisterium of the Church (what we call the Magisterium) is therefore where you should look for an answer. The Teacher will show the correct way to interpret Scripture so that you do not twist and turn out of context. Therefore, there is only one Catholic Church, while there are thousands of Protestant "churches, each claiming to base their authority on the Bible. Hope this helps.

>> so something I would like answered is why the Pope's authority should be given. evidence of the Bible please. << The authority was given by God Himself. The Father revealed to Peter, Jesus, and Jesus promised Peter the keys and the power of binding and loosing: He told them: "But who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! Flesh and blood has not revealed this, but my Father in heaven. And I say that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the powers of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "- Matthew 16:15-19 Later, Jesus entrusted Peter with the care of his flock: "Feed my lambs ... Feed my lambs ... Feed my sheep. " - John 21:15-17 After Jesus ascended to heaven to Peter's first business was to direct it to fill the office of Judas, so we know that the successors of the Apostles (Acts 1:15-26). So someone out there has the keys of the kingdom of heaven has the power to bind and loose, and has the duty to feed and tend the flock of Christ. If that person is not Benedict XVI, who is?

As a Protestant, I only see altar call as something we do. The pastor or reverend opened the altar for those who want someone to pray with them or appear to be saved. It's like going to the throne of God. Hebrews 4:16 tells us come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in times of need. We do things for other Catholics. I also know why the Pope should be given this authority, but I think its fair share of their religion and tradition. Probably talk about Peter is the first pope in his reply.

I do not know exact verses, but I can tell you the reasons they are wrong: holy water: nothing is sacred on earth except the Bible. No man has the power to do holy things. Even walking the land of Jesus is holy. Confession: All sins must be confessed to God, or God through Jesus Christ, through prayer. The majority of Catholics have never been cleansed of sin. Only God can, not a priest. Virgin Mary worship anyone but God is idolatry. Mary was a mortal, and was saved by Jesus, like all Christians. She is not a god. Rosario: The Bible is strongly against the rituals (which in much of the Catholic Mass is based on, from the pagan traditions). The song is also prohibited, that the Rosary is nothing, and prayer to Mary, is prohibited, which is also in the rosary. Infant Baptism: In order to be saved and baptized, a person must make a personal decision on his own heart and mind to accept Jesus as their savior. At the age of newborn, the baby still has to make a decision. So many Catholics go through life without really being saved. Crucifix: 1.) Jesus is still on the cross, which is not true at all, considering that he is alive today. 2.) Catholics believe has supernatural powers when the Scripture clearly says otherwise. Authority of the Pope: No man has authority over the church, which belongs to God. Moreover, considering many previous popes have introduced amendments to the 10 commandments and other important things, no man is allowed to blasphemy the Bible, we believe God has guided and sanctified through their training and translation. (If he could make the world in 6 days, which is a fairly easy task.) Sorry, I do not know what calls are altered, or have no Bible verses, but it is very easy to see how corrupt Catholicism is the actual book that is based on!

(If he could make the world in 6 days, which is a fairly easy task.)
Sorry, I do not know what calls are altered, or have no Bible verses, but it is very easy to see how corrupt Catholicism is the actual book that is based on!

The idea that all truth is revealed in "66 books" is not only in Scripture, is contrary to Scripture (1 Corinthians 11:2, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 1 Timothy 3: 15, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Peter 3:16). It is a concept unknown in the Old Testament, where the authority of those who sat in the chair of Moses (Matthew 23:2-3) existed. Besides this, for 400 years, had not defined canon of "Holy Scripture" apart from the Old Testament, there was no "New Testament", there is only tradition and no canonical books and letters. Our Lord founded a Church (Matthew 16:18-19), not a book that was to be the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Timothy 3:15). We know what you're looking Church teaches not only Scripture, but in history and reading what the earliest Christians have written, what those who have sat in the chair of Peter has spoken consistently with Scripture and Tradition, and what I've solemnly defined. To believe that the Bible is our only source of Christian truth is unbiblical and illogical.
