Please do not be as alleged, I am Catholic and have never idolatrada the Virgin Mary, or know of any colleague who is not Catholic, it comes to perceptions think.
A Protestant may believe that to see someone praying before a statue to pray that the present reality and I understand, but this is not how it is.
Catholics use this aid as a devotional ago with a photograph of a loved one, the person who takes easily to the mind and heart and this is the real extent of this practice.
Concerning such things idolatry is my explanation, the divine injunction included the prohibition of any representation of God by man. Deuteronomy explains: "Since you do not see how the day which the Lord spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire, be careful not to act corruptly by a serious picture for you, in the form of any shape. It is absolutely transcendent God who revealed himself to Israel. "He is everything," but at the same time "is over all his works. He is the author of beauty.
However, in the Old Testament, God commanded or permitted the making of images that pointed symbolically toward salvation by the incarnate Word: so it was with the bronze serpent, the ark of the covenant, and the cherubim.
Based on the mystery of the Incarnate Word, the seventh ecumenical council at Nicaea (787) justified against the iconoclasts the veneration of icons - of Christ, but also of the Mother of God, angels and all saints. By becoming incarnate, the Son of God introduced a new "economy" of images.
The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. In fact, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person represented in it. The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone: Religious worship is not directed to images in themselves, considered as mere objects, but under their distinctive aspect of images that lead us to God incarnate. The veneration of sacred images is based on the mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God. Changed the Ten Commandments, that does not have to feel guilty about the cult statues of Mary and all the rest of pagan idolatry.
He was very smart how they did it.
That dropped the second commandment (worshiping idols) and split the tenth and greed of his wife number nine neighbors and their house number ten and so on, unless bible expert, you would't know.
I wonder what else has changed?

Catholics do not worship Mary. Do not worship statues. Who give honor to Mary, because she deserves it. She was not "just" a bowl. God chose to bring our Lord and Savior. Nothing wrong in honoring Mary and the saints or, if none of them are placed above God. And they're not. This is not the statues that are giving Catholics honor, are the people the statue represents.
And I am not Catholic, even, but I will defend to the Church!

You are misinterpreting the actions of some Catholics. You have studied and Catholics do have their own interpretation withoout ask what Catholics are doing.
Catholics do not worship statues of Mary. Flowers can be placed at the base of the statues, but this is just a sign of our love for Mary, who was the mother of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mary is loved, but adored. Worship is reserved only to God.

despite what you may have heard, the Catholic Christians do not worship idols. Statues, jewelry, glasswork and other things along these lines that are pieces of art as the honor of the saints were good people, while giving us the inspiration to continue to worship and serve God the way he had .

We do not. Idolatry is forbidden in the Catholic Church. Catholics do not worship anything or anyone but God. Undoubtedly, they are smart enough to know that there is a statue of a god. Your question is ridiculous indictment. God bless!

Catholics do not idolise or worship statues of Mother Mary. We worship and pray to her for her intercession.
We have pictures and statues of Mother Mary and the saints. Their performance or how to place a photo of your loved one at home.
