Mary Mother of God?

All Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and God, being the 2nd Person of the Trinity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the son of Mary. Now, many Protestants are willing to say: "Mary, Mother of Jesus", but are reluctant to say "Mary, Mother of God." Why?
There is probably an element of cultural conditioning here. Mary gives a title as Mother of God seems too large for many Protestants. For centuries, most Protestants have tried to ignore Mary, and have avoided the debate and talk about - except perhaps to condemn Catholic "excesses." But this is a serious matter. To call Mary the Mother of Jesus "and yet refuse to call her" Mother of God "is to diminish, and Jesus Maria, because it is a denial that Jesus is truly God and fully.
The Virgin Mary is the Mother of All in the person of Jesus Christ, and therefore is truly Mother of God the Son.
Why deny Mary as the Mother of God, son?

Why deny Mary? … It would destroy his "bibly only" doctrine. the disrespect shown to the mother of Jesus by some Protestants are encouraged by this false doctrine, and many Protestants for having abused its dishonor God's name from his mother. No other human favored by God to Mary the mother of Jesus.
God's plan of salvation depends on obedience to the request of Mary carrying her Son. It is fitting that the Church has given him the title of Mother of God … she deserves nothing less …. that dishonors Jesus as the Incarnate Word. Spiritual blindness is just stupidity Protestants to see this is not biblically justified.

This is not the point. Jesus is the point. It is not lack of respect to Mary, that God chose to be the vessel. But good grief, God chose Moses, God chose David. The Bible says, "before Abraham was, I AM" Before Mary was God. That focus on the wrong thing.
      Edit: YES PASTOR ART. Right.

    Mary, Mother of Jesus.
No woman has ever been so honored as the mother of Jesus, nor has it been a misunderstanding.
Roman Catholics [the masses in any case] practically worshiped him, and Mary is offten a place of Christ with those who pray to her and ask her intercession.
As a reaction almost idolatrous aganist this attitude toward Mary and her paintings and statues, most of the Protestants their complete abandonment.
Mary is represented to us in Sacred Scripture, which is, as should be expected, most tender, the most faithful, humble,
patient and lover of women, but still a woman.
She is Mary, Mother of Jesus.

  4. St. Preachy says:

I have no problem with calling Mary the Mother of God. This is a title given to it as a form od saying something about Christ, but rather so that he could be worshiped as a kind of co-redemtrix.

  5. Everette says:

    God the Father, the Creator
Jesus = God in the flesh, Emmanuel "God with us"
The Holy Spirit, or The Spirit of God.
Mary was the mother of Jesus, that He bare in flesh.Just all conveived us in the womb of woman, born in the flesh, it was Jesus.

  6. kibye says:

Yes, Sister Mary was chosen to have the honor of creating the body of Jesus Christ.
But she is not a God to pray.
Has all the prayers to Jesus Christ, his son, through the Holy Spirit.

I think we are worrying about the wrong things in life, given their inputs. Only love for God and others, and accept Jesus. Do not worry so much of the semantics and asks what and what not, to see how confused? As a therapist, I see some anxiety in their questions, just pray and get their answers.

    Wow, must be deepened here.
Mary is the Mother of Christ. Who is the mother of God? I say to anyone. Who is the Holy Spirit of mother? I say God!

When you say "Mother of God" the words mean is the mother of God the Father, and she did not.
Mary is only the mother of the man Jesus.
Why not be content to say what the Bible says and no more?
Mary is the mother of a human baby named Jesus.
She is the mother of God.
It was created by God, she is the mother of God.

Mary is the mother of God. I am Protestant and have no problem with saying Mary is the mother of our God. I think some Protestants believe Mary when she went to the cross, Jesus told the disciples a "Behold your Mother" he "took responsibility for a child to be one of his disciples. So this statement implies that Mary was not important. Again, I do not believe this and I think there are many important things outside the Bible that deal with women.

The title is not honorary. Su beneficio por Cristo no Marys.

I do not believe that Mary was the Mother of God. The trinity. She was the mother of Jesus. Mary was a sinner. Santa Maria is not. You can not pray to Mary. Mary needed a savior just like the rest of us, it was not without sin.

  14. dwayne says:

When Jesus began his ministry said Mary. women, what to do with my time is not yet.
the idea that God put in your league, it does not. was only one person that God chose to use is no different than the one used the burning bush or the ass to Balaam … or you or me!

    How true.
      Jesus is God incarnate
Mary is the mother of the Word made man,
ergo, Mary is the Mother of God
      since Jesus is God incarnate
Mary is the Mother of God incarnate.

Sigh …….. well lets star with the truth of the matter. Jesus is not God. it is only the Son of God.

This is one of the reasons why they avoid religion. Simply not worth destroying the brain to figure out a puzzle that has no answer. This is just another reason to be atheist.
