The name Mary?

It is considered a Jewish / Hebrew name or a Christian name because I know it's biblical, but it was a Jew …. with Mary's name was around before Christianity and was first used by the Jews right? but my friend Maria claims his name is Christian (which is a Catholic and the Bible and that I suppose)
  What is it?

  1. Jyyzzoel says:

Mary is a Jewish name. Mary was Jewish. The name "Mary" began in Judaism and was probably first used by the Jews.
However, in saying that your friend is correct, and that Catholicism is in fact a continuation of the Judaism of beings that are part of a covenant made to Abraham … So you are technically correct.
If Catholicism Judaism refuses, then it would be correct to say Mary is strictly a Jewish name … because then you can really separate the two religions.
However, given that Catholics consider themselves to be exercising the very revelation of God, then your friend is technically correct, because then Mary, a Jewish girl who became a Catholic, is inherent in Judaism. It'sa kind of catch 22.
      I hope this helps.

Mariam comes from Mary, who became popular for Christians, because the names of the mother of Christ. Jesus (Jeshua), was a Jew, so, therefore, his mother was a Jew. Christianity is a branch of Judaism, and speaking as a Catholic myself (with the Jewish name of Sara), is a Christian with a Jewish name.
