Are you suggesting that there should be prohibited on the grounds that the author was or what the book contained? Because I do not think you have read, and I think you are saying that it was Hitler wrote a book that should have been there. Besides, the Vatican had a very tenuous relationship with Germany that was. Any lack of participation during the Holocaust comes to mind.

>> What does the Vatican not "Mein Kampf" in its index of banned books? << I am curious how you know that, because "It has proved to be somewhat difficult to obtain a complete list of books included in the Index." (Book of Modern History) http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/index ...

Pope Pius XII was a friend of Hitler when Pius was the Archbishop of Berlin before becoming Pope. The Pope never spoke about what Hitler did during the entire period, including but not limited to, the Holocaust. Moreover, Jews were considered by the Church until the Second Vatican Council, 1960-1963, to be responsible for the death of Jesus. I am not surprised the Vatican does not ban "Mein Kampf". How to know which books were banned in that list because it is not easy to achieve?

He forgot that the Bible was also on that list of books! "Mein Kampf" was written by a Jesuit priest (Father Staempfle) so I'm not surprised that it would not be prohibited by the Vatican.

History suggests there was an unpleasant relationship between the Vatican and Berlin during the Second World War. The idea that this book does not include in your list adds to my suspicion.
