Ireland was the home of the Celts, who were pagan, but converted to Catholicism, because I thought that was a bad idea to make an enemy of God. Therefore, the pagan rituals still exist, and those were the same rituals of the women were being burned at the stake for.   There are probably other reasons too, but that's what you think! The Protestants were very purist, not Catholicism, because of their idol worship even though they were so obviously Christian pagan idols to worship idols even more offencive to them.
