Catholics and Protestants?

What is the main difference between Catholics and Protestants? Protestants am Catholic, and many who know me say that Catholics "worship Mary and the saints," and that aggravates me sometimes because they do not "worship" them, "worship" them. " It also says my Protestant friend about a time when my grandmother and my mother saw a miracle when God sent Mary to appear to a woman and tell her make an appearance through lights in the sky on a specific date midnight in 1992. My grandmother and her mother witnessed this. I friend told me that only God has the power to do that … and I said that God sent to Mary … So it was an act of God, but yet there seems to be a respect for Mary. Is this how all Protestants are?

The main difference is the following:
Christian (Protestant, or if you prefer) believe that we are saved by grace alone, that is, that Jesus died for our sins, past, present and future. That is enough to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that salvation (to reach the heavens), but that "faith without works is dead" so the love we have for Jesus Christ compels us to work for the Kingdom.
Catholics believe that Jesus died for our sins of the past, but still have to work our way to salvation, therefore the end of our life, we will be judged by the Lord on the basis of what we did, and he will decide if we work hard enough for heaven. I think the Roman Catholic Church also believes in a limbo or purgatory, where people do not work hard enough you can stay and wait for the saints to pray for them to access through the gates of heaven are allowed.
      Other differences include:
      - Christians believe in "Sola Scriptura", ie only the Bible - Catholics believe in the traditions, and also in the Epistles of Pope as sacred.
      - RCC believes in the infallibility of the Pope - that Christians do not recognize papal authority
      - Catholics believe that Mary was holy and was taken to heaven by hypothesis - that Christians refuse because they believe that this is not mentioned in the Bible
Christians also do not "sanctify" the dead, as we believe that to be "sanctified" should be set apart for the Kigdom - therefore we have no saints (or we are all saints). And we have no "sacraments" as you do. We do not believe that men of God (pastors and deacons) must remain unmarried to work for God.
There are some differences, but these are the main

  2. Icarus says:

The main differences are fairly easy to articulate - and you are correct to point out that the typical criticism (like "who worship Mary" criticism) are based on ignorance not fact. As a Protestant, for me the main differences are: (1) in Protestantism, there is more emphasis on individual study of the Bible and less dependence on a priest or other church official to interpret Scripture for us - is more individual and less business. (2) Protestants confess their sins directly to God and not through an intermediary such as a priest. (3) The big deal for me is the way that the sacraments are seen. In Catholic teaching, the bread and wine actually become the body and blood of Christ, Protestants undestand the bread and wine to be "symbolic" of the body and blood of Christ. There are some technical reasons, this is an important point, but this is not the time nor the place to explain. And finally, there is less structure in the Protestant churches.

  3. Leo says:

The main differance between them is that Catholics use theology in the interpretation of the word and the Protestants, Catholics too have a more complete text of the word, more scripts! The Protestants are a breakaway lead by Martain Luther against the Catholic Church and therefore have found reasons to Rebell against everything that the church is saying for. Many Catholics pray to the dead and Mary, but the truth is NEVR Mary died was assumed and the dead are those who fell asleep in Christ! So I figure there is truth and perceive what they believe is the truth. God bless you all

theres nothing against Mary's habit, but it seems that Catholics continually praising Jesus Maria. serviceoneday resorted to a Catholic worship and the whole 30 minutes when I sang "Ave Maria Full of Grace" know "hail" means praise.
Why Mary praise when Jesus is the only thing that can save souls. when not in the Bible as a reminder to me Mary does have the power to "appear" to people.
im not saying its bad or not possible, but can not find any Scripture to support that.
Mary has no power to save souls, the state of the Bible was chosen among the women, not above other women.
she has no more power than Moses Abraham or the others that were used by God.

  6. ♪ ♫Jin_Jur♫ ♥ says:

I know that some of the differences … The Protestant churches are not overtly decorated while Catholics are full of statues, luxury, etc. also alters Protestants believe that the Bible is the sole source of God's special revelation to mankind. Catholics believe that the Bible and sacred Roman Catholic tradition are equally binding on Christians. Many Catholic doctrines such as purgatory, asking the saints, worship and veneration of Mary, etc. have little or no basis whatsoever in Scripture, but rely exclusively on Catholic traditions.
Catholics regard the Pope as a figure who takes the place of Jesus, while Protestants believe that no human being is infallible.

  7. Keith T says:

I am not an expert on this, but I think the main difference is the priesthood. Protestants believe that we do not need a priest to intervene on our behalf, but through acts of Christ, we can boldly approach God and ask forgiveness for the sins they committed.

  8. jungleem says:

Pray for your friend, be friends and say that an act of God is a miracle! The Protestants were Catholics, once too, had it not been for Martin Luther as a good Catholic priest, leaving the only true church, and founded his own because he found things he does not like to go in the church, but erred by not trying to change things, and that should never have founded their own church, I understand that about her death, he said he had made some mistakes and maybe should not have left the Church

  9. FROG E says:

Catholics are Protestant Christians …. (name given to non-Catholic Christians by the Catholic Church) are Christians ….. all have the same belief in the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Its doctrines may vary.
God sent His Son Jesus to save nearly 2000 years ago .. has not and will not send Maria (You have been deceived)

  10. Kate says:

I was curious about this, too. My boyfriend is Protestant and I am a Catholic.
      I found this website helpful http://www.religionfacts.com/christianit … …
But instead of focusing on differences in their two religions should focus on similarities.
The most important thing is to have a relationship with God. I do not care so much how to get there.
      Good luck.

  11. Junos says:

Using the writings of Catholics who are not in the Bible and call it inspiration. They do many things that are not biblical and prayer to Mary to intercede for them to God, praying to their special saints. We just have to pray to Jesus or directly to God, nothing else matters. All Christians are saints.
      Too much to write …
      Just my thoughts!

  12. Mim says:

Mary was a good woman, but not God or his mother. the fact of marriage and pray to the saints is not biblical and why you think that Protestants worship to bow before the statue Marias where the Bible says that no Idles.

  13. steadfas says:

Sorry, but the last time I checked, the media worship for worship, as described in the dictionary.

  14. crystal t says:

I understand what you say because I am Catholic and people tell me so. I think they are ignorant of the Catholic faith ….. pray for them!

  15. Miserere nobis et totius mundi says:

Yup Catholics who pray to the biblical Mary and not only Mary, but the Saints for their sessions.
And yes its very biblical to say that his may be one mediator between God and man is right.
But what does the sentence about interseceroy.
Because he is the only God-man and Mediator of the New Covenant, Jesus is the only mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5), but this does not mean you can not or should not ask our fellow Christians to pray with us and for us (1 Tim. 2:1-4). In particular, we ask the intercession of Christians in heaven who had already completed his sanctification, because "[t] he prayer of the righteous is powerful in its effects" (James 5:16).
Not only praying heaven with us, also pray for us. In the book of Revelation, we read: "[an] angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar before the throne , and the smoke of incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God "(Revelation 8:3-4).
Thus in Psalm 103 we pray, "Bless the Lord, you his angels, that the powerful who do his word, listening to the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will "(Psalm 103:20-21). And in the first verses of Psalm 148 we pray, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord of the heavens, praise him in the highest! Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his army! "
Jesus himself warned us not to offend young children because their guardian angels have guaranteed intercessory access to the Father: "See that you despise not one of these little, because I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven "(Matthew 18:10).
"But the high priest [Christ] alone prays for those who pray sincerely, but also of the angels … As the souls of the saints who have slept
      Rom 6:3-4
Or are you aware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? If we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.
      Col 2:12
You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To this end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all saints, saints, and to me, that utterance may be given at the opening of the mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the gospel, which I am a ambassador in chains, which can declare boldly, as I speak "(Ephesians 6:18-20).
"First, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings for all men, kings and all those in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and come to know the truth "(1 Timothy 2:1-4).
But the Bible says Jesus is the only mediator between God and man?
A: Yes, yes, in 1 Timothy 2:5 ( "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"), but just quoted the four verses immediately preceding this one, and they recall that Paul said, "I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings for all men."
So the fact that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man does not prevent other people to act as intercessors. And we know that intercessory prayer certainly not to offend God, in the same passage quoted above, Paul tells us: "This is good, and pleases God our Savior
Sometimes I was surprised how people can jump up and down what Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:5 and still lose the subject of intercessory prayer, not only is the theme of the last four verses, but the segue into the discussion of unique mediation of Jesus.
For example, consider the following verses and concern shown by the sky that what happens on earth:
"Then one of the couples [who represent the hierarchy of the people of God in heaven] addressed me, saying," Who are these, clothed in white robes and whence came they? I told him: "Lord, you know. And he said: 'These are they which came out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb "(Revelation 7:13-14).
      "
And they [the elders] sang a new song, saying Thou art worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain, and with your blood did ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and hast made a kingdom and priests to our God, and reign on earth "(Revelation 5:9-10).
"The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, this tells us that these are the voices of humans, and He shall reign forever and ever "(Revelation
11:15). "And the elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying," Thank you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, you have taken your great power and has begun to reign. The nations raged, but thy wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, for rewarding thy servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear thy name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth " ; (Revelation 11:16-18).
"I heard a voice in heaven, saying," Now the salvation, power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, this indicates that it is a human voice has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, and that love their lives unto death. rejoice, O heavens, and that inhabit it! But woe to you, oh earth and sea because the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knows his time is short! "(Revelation 12:10-12).
After this I heard what appeared to be the voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for His judgments are true and righteous has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants. Once
How do you know that the saints in heaven are praying for us
"And Onias spoke, saying, 'This is a man who loves the brethren and prays much for the people and the holy city, Jeremiah, the prophet of God" (2 Maccabees 15:14).
The same verse quoted above. Needless to say, for example, that our guardian angels are aware of what we are doing. It's your job to protect us, after all, so we can be sure that we know what we're doing, and when we are asking them to pray for us.
And in the same way, when we read of the saints in heaven offering our prayers to God in the form of incense (Revelation 5:8, 8:3-4), we know that they are aware of our prayers.
Remember: Most of the saints do not have physical bodies at this time. They also have no cards of the prayer request physical or natural incense or something. This means that when painting as presenting God with our prayers, which are not physically present in our prayers, so they must be mentally submission to him. But if they are mentally present our prayers to God, then they should be aware of our prayers.

  16. Gary B says:

"Revere" is the English version of the Latin word "venarari" - which means "worship. No need to play with words. Actions speak louder than words, and worship is worship.
      It's like this:
You are a criminal. You have committed the most heinous crime ever. You have been convicted of the crime, and now before the judge, who is known as a hanging judge. The death penalty is safe.
So turn your lawyer and say, "Do not worry. I know his mother. "
Protestants believe in the priesthood of the believer. That is, through our relationship with Jesus, we too are given the right to be in the presence of God. Jesus the Son of man is our brother, and in fact, is proud to be our brother! We can talk to him at any time for any reason. There is no reason to send our prayers through Mary, because Jesus hears us directly by itself.
And because Jesus himself will testify to us, we may be in the presence of God. His shed blood washes us clean, so that God will watch. When God sees us, he saw Jesus!
Mary took his place in history, but Jesus made sure that was treated before he died. She deserves respect but not reverence or worship.

  17. meerkat says:

You asked the question, so I hope you're not offended, because I do not want to be offensive, just honest. For me, Catholicism seems a way to be both religious and superstitious. The bones of the saints, springs, praying the rosary. They come to me as through the types of spells. Even the "sightings" of Mary. These are all objects that the focus of people away from God.
You say that Catholics do not worship Mary, but every time I put anything before God - or Mary, our money, our education - We put our trust in these things and essentially become our gods.

  18. SUE says:

Um mm. How to pray with them?
How is that not worshiping them?
