The Bible says it's good for a person not married, so they can devote all their time to Jesus. But he also said that he would rather burn (with passion) if you do not marry and have sex with your partner. Most people can not handle celibacy, and I do not think anyone should be forced. Unfortunately, I think this is a big part of the reason why some priests have done the unthinkable (and you know what I mean) but of course that does not excuse their actions. I think it's great you're willing to go against tradition and do what is best for the people, to fully implement can not serve God and not let their unfulfilled desires to be a way to invite sin in their lives. God bless!

The Catholic priests (or ministers) have not always been celebate - nor the bishops have always been celebate. In the early church used to be the leader of the Christian who became the priest and said the prayer Eurcharistic, regardless of whether they were married or not. After Constantine made Christianity the religion of the Roman Empire, the Church of Rome began the transition to celebate priests. At the Council of Nicaea (325 AD), a priest could not marry after being ordained, and this began celebacy the Latin rite priests. Age of scandals around the 7th century, where the sons of the bishop of the church property is taken as the inheritance celebate bishops were declared once and for all. It was not until the Lateran Councils throughout the 12th century that all priests had to be celebate. Until then, the priests, in special circumstances, were allowed to marry and raise a family. After the 12th century, it required a dispensation from the Vatican to ordain a married man. Even John Paul II allowed waivers in 1980 when it allowed the Church of England and married Episcopal priests to become priests of the Latin rite of the Roman Catholic Church and remain unmarried. In fact, the practice of dispensing with the requirement celebacy has been practiced by the Vatican in recent history (last 500 years) of the Roman Catholic Church. There are many rites within the Roman Catholic Church. The Latin rite is by far the largest. However, other rites allow priests to marry, and only bishops are required to maintain celebacy. I have a Maronite Rite Catholic Church priests near us who has married and that the church is in full communion with the Vatican. Celebacy not recognized as "dogma" of the Church. Many Catholic Church leaders have considered asking for celebacy to be lifted. Celebacy I do not think this generation will be lifted. It will require a "Council" to be called by a pope or a progressive pope to be named. During Vatican II, the start of the decline in vocations had already pointed out - but still there are many priests around. This fall, the result of our culture to reduce family size, has followed a serious point. Ask yourself, is it true that we have to get H1 VISAS priests to say Mass in the U.S.? According to early traditions of our Church, the priest would come from "within the community" rather than countries like India or Kenya. Since Vatican II, the priest must be able to preach in the venacular (language) of the people and not speak English as a party that can not be understood.

Former Kenyan Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo was brainwashed in a psychiatric clinic. Currently a member of a cult and has married a woman who was delivered three days earlier. (I believe that the Moon's Unification Church sect). Excommunicted was ordering four men to the bishops, without permission from the Pope. (It's just a detail to be married). We can not take for serious. But we must pray for him. Nothing has happened to him strange. He was once a bishop, whose teachings were irreprehensive.

Celibacy in the priesthood should not be discarded. The Apostles, some were married and they followed Jesus, St. Peter put to Jesus about being married. He felt guilty about leaving his wife and Jesus said: Do not worry about them, will be attended. If Jesus wanted a priest to marry, he would have taken the whole family with him. The mission of a priest is serving his people. When a young or old man enters the priesthood who already know that will have to remain celibate. It is no surprise to them and what choice they make. Jesus decided how it would be the pope, bishops, no, no priests and laity, but Jesus himself. And yes there are a lot of priests who are married, most are converts who have had a special dispensation from the pope to be priests. But most do not have their own parishes and dispersed to different churches for mass. And yes they are necessary because of the shortage of priests. But it is also difficult to minister to people when they have other responsibilities to worry about, like a family. Who would put people first and your family. you choose. Their responsibility is to God first. This is their vocation, this is what they have chosen for your life. Two very difficuly vocations to choose from. One will be neglected. Shortage of priests were prohibited due to the fact my son wants to be a priest, who is thinking of most parents in this modern society. I have a son and if he had decided to become a priest, I would have loved (and prayed for this), but it did not. We as a society we must pray for the priesthood that is very neglected. Once a priest always a priest in the house Melcesedec (misspelled I am sure, sorry) but you get the point. God bless you.

Celibacy seems to many to be an outdated practice and many of them also say that celibacy has no basis in the Bible, saying that Christians are called to "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:28). This command applies to humanity in general, however, and ignores many Bible passages that support the celibate life. In 1 Corinthians, for example, Paul actually seems to prefer the celibate life, "Are you free from a wife? Do not seek marriage ... Those who marry will have worldly problems, and it will spare you ... The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord, but the married man cares about worldly affairs, how to please his wife and his interests are divided "(7:27-34) . This does not mean that all men should be celibate, however, Paul explains that celibacy is a call for some and not others, saying: "Everyone has his own gift from God, one of a kind and a another "(7:7). Jesus Himself speaks of celibacy in Matthew 19:11-12: "Not everyone can accept this saying, save they to whom it is granted. Some are unable to marry because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of God. Who can accept this should accept it. " Again, the emphasis is on the special nature of celibacy, for which do not conform to all men, but nevertheless gives glory to "the kingdom of God." Perhaps the best evidence to support the Scriptures celibacy is that Jesus himself practiced! God bless.

Both Jesus and Paul advocated celibacy. Thus, it should not be discarded. Milingo was a bad Catholic who could not follow the rules of the Church on sexual morality and is now an apostate, schismatic. It is a fool. No, I would not be in favor of accepting any of his outlandish views. Want to talk about what Jesus and Paul said about this? Http: / / groups.yahoo.com / group / catholicbi ...

No. WWJD? What would Jesus do? The fact that our society has become a little crazy, sex does not mean that this ideal promoted in Scripture and modeled for us by Jesus, John the Baptist, and the apostle Paul should be "eliminated." Priests and religious (nuns) as part of their vocation not to marry following: + The recommended practice in the Bible + In the example of Jesus, John the Baptist, and the apostle Paul. + + + + + + Writing + In Matthew 19:12, Jesus says: "Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this should accept it. " Jesus says that celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the church practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift to his chosen waiver. + In Matthew 19:29, Jesus says, "And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit the life eternal. " Who gives children for the sake of his name, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. Jesus praises celibacy when it is done for the sake of his kingdom. + Matthew 22:30 - Jesus explains: "In the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like angels in heaven". In heaven there is no marriage. To achieve the kingdom of Jesus on earth, the priests live the consecration to God in heaven by not having a wife in marriage. In this way, priests are able to focus exclusively on the spiritual family, and not have any additional pressure of the biological family (which is the vocation of marriage). This also makes it easier for priests to be transferred to different parishes where they are needed without having to worry about the impact of their transfer to the wife and children. + In 1 Corinthians 7:1, Paul writes, "It's a good thing for a man not to touch a woman." This is an option for Catholic priests of the Roman rite freely make. + Then in 1 Corinthians 7:7, Paul says, "Indeed, I wish they all be like me." Paul acknowledges that celibacy is a gift from God and wants all were celibate like he is. + In 1 Corinthians 7:27, Paul writes: "Are you free from a wife? Then do not look for a woman. " Paul teaches men not to seek marriage. In Paul's opinion, marriage introduces worldly temptations that can interfere with one's relationship with God, specifically in relation to those who will become full time ministers in the Church. + In 1 Corinthians 7:32-33, Paul teaches us: "I would be free of worries. An unmarried man is concerned with things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But a married man is anxious worldly things, how to please his wife. "And in verse 38," So, who marries his virgin does well, he who does not marry she will do better. " Paul recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church so as to be able to concentrate fully to God and building His kingdom. The "who refrains from marriage will do better." See also 1 Timothy 5:9-12 2 Timothy 2:3-4 Revevation 14:4 Isaiah 56:3-7 Jeremiah 16:1-4 + + + Examples of Scripture + + + Biblical models of a celibate clergy came from John the Baptist, Jesus and the apostle Paul. John the Baptist and Jesus are both believed that celibacy was throughout his life. Some scholars believe that the example of the Essenes influenced either or both of Jesus and John the Baptist in their celibacy. WWJD? What would Jesus do? Jesus never married. The Apostle Paul is explicit about his celibacy (cf. 1 Cor. 7). There is also evidence in the Gospel of Matthew for the practice of celibacy among some Christians, in the famous passage about becoming "eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:12). The concept took many twists and turns in recent years and will probably have a bit more before Christ returns in glory. A priest is "married" to the Church. Some people think that a priest who takes seriously its functions can not properly care for a wife and family. With love in Christ.

 WWJD? What would Jesus do?
The fact that our society has become a little crazy, sex does not mean that this ideal promoted in Scripture and modeled for us by Jesus, John the Baptist, and the apostle Paul should be "eliminated."
Priests and religious (nuns) as part of their vocation not to marry following:
+ The recommended practice in the Bible
+ In the example of Jesus, John the Baptist, and the apostle Paul.
+ + + + + + Writing
+ In Matthew 19:12, Jesus says: "Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this should accept it. "
Jesus says that celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear.
Who gives children for the sake of his name, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.
