Did you know that led the Pope Cover-Up of abuse by priests?

"The Pope played a leading role in a systematic coverup of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic priests, according to a shocking documentary to be screened by the BBC at night.
In 2001, as a cardinal, he issued a secret Vatican edict to Catholic bishops worldwide, instructing them to put the Church's interests ahead of child safety.
The document recommends that rather than reporting sexual abuse to legal authorities, bishops should encourage the victim, witnesses and perpetrator not talk about it. And, to keep victims quiet, it threatened that if they repeat the charges would be excommunicated. "(Ewan Fletcher)
Panorama: Sex Crimes and the Vatican is on BBC1 tonight at 10.15pm.

I do not understand why people still fund this activity. Catholics take some responsibility

This is one of the many reasons why Catholicism should not be considered as Christianity. But anyway, keep in mind that most Christians believe that modern Catholicism is false, this is not something we encourage.
      Good statement;)

Wow …. I thought that John Paul II was a great guy, but Ratzinger is a very different story. I have not trusted him since he got in the papal office. (I'm not Catholic …)
      I did not know that!

You have to keep in mind that it is not the will of God to reveal the secrets told to them at Communion. When you go in that room in the dark and tell the father what he did was very very bad, he will say penance for forgiveness in the eyes of God through Jesus, but technically, the Supreme Court never hear that case, because it takes away the rights of persons to commit the crimes of child abuse and to keep it secret. That's why the Pope is being prudent.
Did you know that in 1926 in Italy, that the criminals of people killed would go to church and ask for forgiveness and move on. Think about it really hard before sepeak … Catholics here were talking about /. Dime whenre only a Catholic preacher never revealled murder of penance???

Yes, and now that he is very sorry and do not let that happen again.
In a free society (ie Christians), we face our mistakes and make amends. Many mistakes have been made by Christians, but those are the things you can be sure that will not happen again.
In a closed society (ie Islam) there is no free press, no freedom of expression and political and religious leaders are not called to account (until the U.S. invades and they are felled, and even then you have a judge who will kiss ARS Saddam and say, "So you have committed genocide against the Kurds and the countless other crimes? That's fine!")
How do we know how many children or women have been raped or murdered in Islamic countries through the magnets or dictators? Never admit to it!
