For Adultary, what kind of penance would be given by a Catholic priest in Confession?

I know it depends on the priest …. etc., but only to get an idea of the magnitude of sin - that sinners need to build a new wing at school or just say a few sentences? What would you give as a penance?

Penance is likely to include (a) end the adulterous affair, (b) going to couples therapy with the spouse in question, (c) most likely to reveal the adulterous relationship with spouse, (d) species spiritual exercise, which could be anything from prayer to attend Mass every day to pray the Stations of the Cross every day, etc.
But I'm guessing. I've never been in that situation and have no intention to get some firsthand experience of history.

When I was young there was a local priest who condemns Church mow for a week, wash the windows of the school, mop the floor of the school, etc. Also used to pop in visits to the homes of parishioners to try to capture in shorts as he used to scream, literally, from the pulpit of the way they acted and mother should not be surprised by anything that their daughters if they were hypocrites. I am not Catholic but this man was effective and was busy trying to catch something that I do not had time to waste time .. who knows. I really like what he thought of adultery.

First, repentance is never in the form of a donation, or the promise of building something for the church, my main conception.
Next of all, I dunno, if it must be confessed, simply go through it, and apologize regardless of the consequences, it is better to lose eternal life.
      Peace be with you!

I do not know exactly, but the Code of Canon Law, Canon 981 states: The confessor is to impose penance healthy and appropriate regarding the quality and number of sins, taking into account the condition of the penitent. http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG1104/__
Forgiveness does not depend on penance.
When you ask God for forgiveness, with or without a priest, they are forgiven your sins.
However, raised from sin, the sinner must still recover his (or her) own spiritual health. One way to help restore their spiritual health is to do penance. Penance is a kind of spiritual exercise that makes you stronger spiritually.
Penance can consist of prayer, an offering, works of mercy, service of neighbor, voluntary self-denial, sacrifices, and above all the patient acceptance of the cross we must bear.
Such penances help to be more like Christ, the only repairing our sins once and for all.

First, you have to say with the utmost detail everything that happened. Several times. Photographs are a great advantage. Videotapes of the sins that are delivered to the account of a priest to penance.

  7. Old Man from Scene 24 says:

Just what a Christian, he said.
Jesus, who forgives sins. You can confess anything you want your priest. All priests can do is pray for you and give advice based on the word of God.
Jesus forgives and not to punish in terms Mans.
If the Christian and asks Jesus for forgiveness, He
      End of story
Do not follow tradition! Just follow the Scriptures

  8. KAT188 says:

Id cut husbends penance and give the Preist. I'm not a cataholic, on the road.

  9. Catsnack - Laughing at Texas says:

    Yes, the priest and decide.

  10. javy says:

Probably ask you to consider the gravity of sin and just thinking about it. That is what most priests do for any serious sin in my experience - consider the weight of sin. To say that our parents is also a common penance for mortal sin. The priest is likely to admit they want the-er to talk to your spouse and ask his forgiveness. No one would have to build a new wing at school or church, lol.

I'm Catholic, but I'm not a priest or have had a relationship so do not know me!
Probably just given more prayers than usual!

  13. dinger says:

The question is: Are you looking for penance or repentance?

Well, the U.S. Supreme Court (which consists primarily of European Judges Catholic) allowed President Bill Clinton to remain in office and gave a free public presidential library in the state of Arkansas at the expense of taxpayers.
Since these are all European judges Catholics, who are clearly following the strict Vatican protocol, otherwise the European pope would publicly excommunicated all judges of the U.S. Supreme Court, right?

  15. pgd says:

ask the Lord, he alone has the power to forgive.
Jesus is the high priest of the church.
Hbr 4:14 So, as we have a great High Priest who passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let [our] confession.

  16. just a christian says:

Holy water washing the body parts that have been exposed to impurity and to contribute financially to the Holy Mother Church on it!

  17. Díscolo says:

The Catholic religion is false and not Christian. "Confession" for man is not biblical. Only Jesus can forgive sins. Confess to him.
The Bible makes it into heaven clear and easy. The only way to save and go to heaven and not the eternal lake of fire is by believing in this life that Jesus is God, died for our sins on the cross and resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). To believe in this and is saved!
