For those who attend a Catholic Mass, what are your thoughts about the use of incense?
I understand that the basic premise of incense, which is symbolic of the prayers lifting into the sky, however, I think the ritual of incense container berth (for lack of a better word) to the island and the priest a specified number times, distracting. Smoke can irritate the nose and lungs. I'm curious as to what people who attend Mass (Catholics and non Catholics) think about it.
- Catholics, what are your thoughts on this?
- Catholics are allowed to attend Mass officiated by priests belonging to the China Catholic Patriotic Association
- For Catholics …… What is your favorite part of the Mass? And Why?
- Catholic mass to be able to attend to absolve from sin one instead of going to confession?
- Christian / Catholic despite what appears to display if a mass is the same as the participant?

Catholics have long seen the value of worship with all your senses.
We worship through touch, gestures and postures.
We see the beauty and images of saints, as a glimpse of heaven.
We heard psalms and hymns and Scripture readings
We have the pleasure of the Eucharist (as the Bible says, "Taste and see … the Lord is good.")
So add the fifth taste, smell, Incense, is necessary if we worship with all our senses.
If smoke bothers you, you should sit outside the main aisle, then just have a little of the smell of smoke instead of real.
I think it adds greatly to the beauty and dignity of the Mass, I like it. I know some people are allergic to it, and that is very unfortunate.
Incense is one reason why the Catholic Church is known as the Church of smells and bells ". The Catholic religion may use several of our senses.
Protestants here.
Catholic Reflects Episcople model of the church, modeled after the temple for worship. I think there are examples of Insense being symbolic of the prayers of the saints. At least in the book of Revelation the prayers of the saints were as insensitive.
Synogauge In the model, emphasis on the word of God and only the elements that are known to be present in Christian worship or early Synagauge. These are like the conservative Presbyterians. I would go for this, but would not say that no good ever comes from the other.
"container (for lack of a better word)"
Censer, incense burner flame, there is a better word …
I think not attend Mass, Censer is used around the altar, I think his claim of distraction, especially since you are Catholic. Rarely used on a regular mass.
Catholics do not burn incense in the Mass Evey was only for certain occasions (I can not say that because it's been years since I've taken part in Catholocism, although I do remember them in the Stations of the Cross)
Never bothered me. I liked the smell.
Hey, that does not happen often. (And up and down the islands with it, stay on the altar. Splash holy water up and down the islands and lowers his head if you can get in your eye!) Does not bother me much, but I can see how bother others.
Never mind the use of incense at all.
I actually like the smell of incense.
The smell is strong but not "irritant". Even if we find the smell of "irritant", I still have nothing against the use of the Church of incense because the smell only lasts a few seconds.
"Recipient of Incense"
It would be a censer.
I think that is charming, especially when it is a Marian feast, and we have to admit that incense.I up can sometimes be a bit much. However, my church is so strong that not even matter.
God Bless
Personally, I really like.
It can affect people with breathing difficulties or allergies, but the incense is not used at every Mass, in reality only a couple of times a year.
For me, always has been added incense to the divinity and the aura surrounding the Catholic Mass, so it is more pleasant and sacred.
I love worship. When ever I entered the sanctuary and the smell of incense, I felt the sanctity of the Presence of Jesus, and was so grateful that I came to worship!
For me personally, like other rituals that we do gives me the feeling of oneness with our Lord and Savior and Add to the mysteries of God's place in our mass
I love when the boat comes by breathing as deeply as possible. There's something about the smell makes me feel very at peace.
It bothers me, and only happens at funerals, and a few special Masses per year.
Catholic and personally I love incense.
I burn my house to change.
I think it smells terrible.
I love the smell of it and not bother me at all.
I like the smell ..
I left the cult a while after I met Jesus and is filled with the Holy Spirit and experience God's presence and began praying in tongues for hours, etc. and etc. prophecying
Jesus is Lord - read Chapter Mark 16
I think it's good, because some of these ladies who sit near me, cut the cheese and only the most stink.
people can get high with you know
