I am Protestant thinking about going to a Catholic church for the first time and receive the Eucharist …….
although I am not fully Catholic (Protestant or totally) on the subject I love the fact that Catholics RESPECT …….. the Eucharist
Defining myself as a Bible-believing God fearing person who believes in Christ and His death for humanity saved the entire human race from eternal damnation ……..
I did not "classify" myself as Protestant or Catholic. nor the Bible. nor God.
Catholics believe that receiving Christ's flesh and blood, literally,
I would take issue, but the Bible says
this is my blood, this is my body ……………….
and Paul speaks of purifying your body before taking the Eucharist, my Protestant faith does not push this, however, the Bible
I am taking the Eucharist for the first time in a Catholic church I've never been in ……………..
this is my blood, this is my body …………….
- A Protestant im thinking of going to a Catholic Church for the first time and receiving the Eucharist …….
- Why is it wrong for a Protestant to receive the Eucharist from a Catholic Church?
- Christians: Why can not believe that Jesus is the Eucharist in the Catholic Church?
- I am Catholic and attend the Ananda Church of Self-realization. Can I still receive the Eucharist?
- Catholics? The Eucharist is cannibalism?

Anna, the Catholic Church teaches that only Catholics are saved. What we teach is that all are saved through Christ's Church.
One should not receive the Eucharist, unless properly disposed according to the teaching of St. Paul to do otherwise brings the sentence in itself and can cause death. this is a serious matter and you should talk to a priest of deacon before trying to receive. That said I understand your desire to receive, but should be done with due respect and understanding of the measures they are taking.
In Christ

It is necessary that all Catholics believe in the actual body of Christ in the Eucharist to receive. Definitely not an optional belief as such practice of taking without discerning the body and blood are violated biblical injunctions.
Hi Alexa,
You probably want to talk to a Catholic priest, first, before doing this ….
Peace, love and blessings

Yes, that respect for the Eucharist - the Body of Christ andblood.
It is very disrespectful to receive Communion without being in a state of grace.
Hello friend,
I've been a devout Catholic all my life and I would like to have a Catholic perspective amazing!
You seem to fully understand the Eucharist, Catholics rather than receive! Congratulations!
However, you can not receive the Eucharist unless Catholic.
Sorry.
-SO-in order to receive Jesus physically, body, blood, soul and divinity, have to be Catholic!
Talk to a priest or a Catholic church DRE.
God Bless!
I'm glad to hear of their enthusiasm for receiving the Holy Eucharist. However, it should be part of the Catholic community in order to receive full benefits from it.
The Holy Apostles were Catholic. The word "catholic" simply means "universal." The "Universal" or "Catholic" church began as soon as our Lord celebrated the first Eucharist with his disciples at the Last Supper.
Before proceeding with all due respect, please read the Catechism of the Catholic Church before receiving the Eucharist. You might be surprised!
Interesting, is not a member of a Catholic church and going to serve communion. I had the impression that in order to have a Catholic service had to be a member.
The Bible also says not to take it unworthily. ie if you have any sin in your life that are better off passing on taking communion, living in sin and take it. What can I do to make sure I am free from sin, that is, when I'm waiting for the emblems and ask God to forgive me of any sin that may be guilty. If your church does not take it seriously then I suggest you talk to your pastor, and if nothing is done, find another church to do so.
Jesus was not speaking literally, but we're going to treat it like him. We should regard as bread that we eat and think about the healing power of Jesus is when the stripes on the back. We consider the juice (wine) as we drink and think of the blood that was shed to cleanse us from our sins.
Oh, by the way, Jesus did not die to save the entire race from eternal damnation. He died to save those who accept his sacrifice as payment for their sins.
Pastor Bill
After saying that "this is my blood, this is my body," he said, "Do this in remberance Me" which was not really him, but do so to remember. Anyway, its against the rules of the Catholic Church so that you can take communion in their church if you're not a confirmed Catholic, so the point is moot. It would be very embarrassing to be expelled from the church, but that's what will happen if the capture of a Catholic not trying to take communion there.
I would not if I were you - but I'm not, so this is so worth it.
Protestants are all over the map when it comes to the Eucharist / Communion - transubstantiation consubstantiation, memory, sacrament, ordinance, real presence, both / and, etc., etc.
Not so with the Catholics. There is a pre-existing unity among Catholics when it comes to the Eucharist. Thus, while many Protestants with their differing views of the Communion as an opportunity to put aside differences and break bread with fellow Christians who may not share all the doctrines and beliefs that do, most Catholics are participating in the communion and attend Mass as outward growth of pre-existing unit. We should not bury hatchets, no differences aside.
For his sake, no horn, and pollute in its most sacred of unity in Christ. If you are not one of them - if you have not drunk that Kool-Aid - then claiming to have respect for them and simply ask the Lord's blessing to make your way to tomorrow morning the minister of the Eucharist.
At the Last Supper, Jesus said, "Take this bread. It's my body. "He said," Take and drink. This is my blood. Do this in remembrance of me ".
Catholics believe that this was the first Eucharist, which by some miracle the bread and wine actually become the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Catholics recreate the Last Supper at every Mass, the priest, acting in the place of Christ, transforms the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
This is a great sacrament of thanksgiving and unity of Catholics.
Anyone who does not believe in the Real Presence of Christ is not united with the Catholic faith is asked, out of respect, not to receive the Eucharist.
Catholics, out of respect for other Christian denominations do not receive communion in non-Catholic churches.
We pray that one day Christian unity will succeed and that all will be called to the same table.
With love in Christ.
I am delighted that they have accepted the truth of the real presence in the Eucharist. I am also delighted that you wish to receive the Eucharist from the Catholic Church.
There is something you need to know about the reception of the Eucharist to non-Catholics: Normally non-Catholics are not allowed to receive Holy Eucharist.
While we always welcome to celebrate Mass at a Catholic church, the reception of the Eucharist is normally made to the Catholics. Reason being, the act of receiving the Holy Eucharist in the Catholic Church is similar to that profess faith in the real presence (not a problem in your case) but also is a profession of faith in all Catholic teachings.
If you accept the real presence of the Eucharist, I have no doubt that can accept other teachings of the Church if they choose to accept them too.
This might seem unfair to non-Catholic Christians, but the truth is that the Church respects the real presence of the Eucharist that we can not allow that possibly it is the actual or of the Church in general to receive it. The Church protects the integrity of the victim for this.
The Holy Eucharist is undoubtedly the most Holy Church of the Sacraments. You can not afford to have is the receipt lightly. The reception of Holy Eucharist is not a right, is a privilege. That said, please know that is their right to earn the privilege of receiving the Holy Eucharist.
I hope you have noticed that I used the terms "general" and "normally" when referring to non-Catholics who receive the Eucharist.
Since profress belief in the presence and honestly wish to receive the Body and Blood of Christ Catholic Church, you should contact the priest of the Church who want to attend mass.
The priest would be willing to allow you to receive the Holy Eucharist while not (yet) be Catholic. Good luck.
Well, I urge you to pray about this and see if your pride is leading ahead of the will of God. Some details:
1. If you take communion, he violated their practices. Only practicing Catholics should take communion at mass who do not know and may even be a place not ask / do not say anything wrong, but they have their education and it is inappropriate that you deliberately ignore and violate it.
If you like the fact that respect for the Eucharist, I urge you to do the same and respect for his teachings.
2. At Vatican II (1960), the church said that Catholics do not have to believe that the wafer and wine were literally Christ's body and blood. Today, they also allow a more reformed - the elements are, spiritually, the body and blood of Christ.
(Some Protestant churches go a step further and say parts only "represent" the body and blood as symbols. That is too weak for me. But I digress.)
I urge you to talk to a priest, before doing so. You only end up feeling bad about it later.
Hi,
I agree with everything that Danny H has to say. The Church asks that non-Catholics do not participate in the Eucharist. I did so before he converted to Catholicism and regretted it. The prerequisite for receiving Communion to Catholics who are in a state of grace (without mortal sin without confessing) and an acceptance, if not belief, that the doctrine of the Church is true. A person may receive a "temporary" really forgiveness of mortal sin to confess to God that he / she repents of his sins because he / she has sinned against God's sake, not because he / she fears the loss of Gosh, is not sin again, and he / she will confess to a priest as soon as possible. These things are hard to understand and incorporate into one's life before joining the Church. With Love, a convert to the 40.
I'm glad you've come to see that the Catholic Church believes in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. I am also glad that you want to receive Christ in the Eucharist, but I must inform you that you can not get it yet! You must be a practicing Catholic to do otherwise would cause a conviction to himself as Paul said in the Bible. Do see a priest and he will guide you as to what to do next! God bless and hope someday you too can participate in the Eucharist and be in communion with all saints!
unless they have been baptized and confirmed Catholic can not take the Eucharist .. and can even be his undoing, not his salvation .. ask the priest … but up to you .. as you know all there is about the Catholic religion.
You must have absolution of their sins by a priest before the Blessed Sacrament
Only sin (at) Catholics should receive the Eucharist in a Catholic mass. Although seven years old, preparing for First Communion did not believe that the host literally became the body of Christ. Most reasonably Catholics realize that it is only symbolic.
awesome
First, I want to say "Welcome home!"
I suggest you talk to a priest about joining RCIA. I did 3 years ago and was the best decision of my life.
It makes me so happy that you go to church have to wonder, however, that you talk to a priest about receiving the Eucharist. Normally we ask that non-Catholics do not, out of respect for themselves and the Blessed Sacrament. From your comments, you seem to believe in the Real Presence of Christ. To be clear, I think it would be better if you talk to a priest first.
By the way, you are so dead on the money with their previous comments. Christ did to save mankind by his death, and the Bible does NOT say "this is my body … this is my blood ". Want to know what makes me? It was John chapter 6. This is where Jesus taught the Eucharist for the first time. Later, Paul's writing, talking about purifying yourself before taking the Eucharist.
Wow. Always a breath of fresh air to see someone find their way home.
Welcome back. God bless and take care.
Well, it's just a cookie. Even so, respect the practices of Catholics who would not participate in the sacrament without being a Catholic yourself.
You can have Mass in the house. You can have respect for it, and you should. It is the body of Christ.
If Catholicism research before making a choice based on the Eucharist. If you are Catholic, you're to believe that only Catholics are saved. If you disagree with that statement, who are not Catholic. And nowhere does the Bible say … it says we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
