I consider myself a Protestant, if I am a Christian not Catholic?

I'ma Christian, but was never baptized in a Christian church in particular. I always considered myself a Protestant, as my grandfather was a Protestant and I'm not Catholic, myself.
Both my parents were Catholic and when I was about to apply to a Catholic school said I could consider myself Catholic, but because it was never baptized in the Catholic Church, I do not think I can consider myself a Catholic.
I'm confused about what they should be associated with: the Protestant side or part of the Catholics.

If you are not Catholic, the Catholic Church considers ou Protestant. Technically this is true, I suppose, however, I am a former Catholic and did not follow Catholic doctrine or dogma over and I do not consider myself Catholic denomination. Do not label myself as either Protestant, though is the category I would fall in'm simply a Christian from any denomination and attend a nondenominational church.
Why do you need a label?
Why not follow Jesus and obey?
It's good to go to church and communion, and is commanded by Jesus, who was baptized at all, but religion is not what you need. The relationship with Jesus Christ is what you need.
Search around a church that teaches the Bible and not add or subtract to the word of God and go. S f you follow Jesus, please also obey and receive the baptism must come from butthis YOUR choice and the heart, for no other reason, only then is real and only then you, your choice, love and follow Jesus.
BTW - is not the label or in the local church that brings salvation is that Jesus alone to do so. In order to choose which side is irrelevant unless you just get to Jesus!

It might be more accurate to say simply "non-denominational.
There are other flavors that Protestants and Catholics … Coptic Orthodox, etc. So we can just avoid the whole issue by saying: "I am in the category of Christians, but not aligned with any church or specific names.
btw … Catholic simply means "universal", so there are Catholics and Catholics … The Apostles' Creed says, "I believe in the Holy Catholic Church" … so depending on whether or not benefit, either way you are a member of the Catholic Church. [But I admire his integrity and not claiming an affiliation that does not believe in gaining an advantage]

If you do not believe what the Catholic faith puts out there, who are Protestant. They were baptized Catholic and it does not sound as if they were raised Catholic. I think you can consider yourself a Catholic if he wanted, but was leaning toward "no."

  4. The Naked Truth says:

The strict definition of "Protestant" is any number of Christian sects that originated outside the Protestant Reformation.
The vague definition of "Protestant" is not any western Catholic Christian. Non-Catholic churches in the East are not known as Protestants.
However, many Western non-denominational churches reject the term "Protestant". Specifically those that emerged from the Stone-Campbell Reformation movement.

I think his parents were saying that you would feel comfortable going to Catholic school.
Frankly, as a Catholic, I think you are Catholic, if you accept things the Catholic Church believes and take steps to join this church. You can see the Nicene Creed here if you want to see if you believe that the fundamentals of Catholicism http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11049a.h
But honestly, what is the church you go now? That's what I think, if I were you.

you have to learn the basics before reading the Bible and drawing conclusions. To have some fine teachers …. Bible teaches that there is only one babtizm and not thousands and Protestant church. Bible teaches us to follow the paved road and aincient that leads to the kingdom of God. You are not in any babtized CurCHS therefore not a member of any of the descriptions. That means they are not confused by the abuses of the Bible by Protestants, Mormons etc. Jhovas. And even the Catholics. If you want to be a member of a church you have to do is ask the questions, which broghut the Bible for us? and there are other Bible books and the accompanying traditions? Look at all the old churches, there are common basics in each of them and there are some differences. But you can understand the difference or may not matter. If you just see his contemporary saints, you see that is the one. Anyway read this Isaiah 19:19 is a prophecy about the church in testement age and the altar is still there (El Pilar is still there).

If you have never been baptized in the Catholic Church are not Catholic. It appears that you are a researcher Chrisitian, a person interested in Christianity, but as yet baptized. You should probably talk to a Catholic with a Catholic priest.

  9. Lovelife says:

Read your Bible. Then, when you have an understanding of it, especially the Gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John. Then look at the different religions. The Bible is the only way to God. Do not worry about religion worry about finding the truth. If you go to church does not follow the Bible, then find one that does. Church of Christ, is the Bible.
