Was Mary really a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus? Luke 1:26-31 (JB) reported that it was "a virgin, whose name was Mary that the angel Gabriel brought the news:" You will conceive and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. " In this, verse 34 says: "Mary asked the angel:" How can this be, since I am a virgin [ "I do not know man, that is, a husband," the NAB note, "I am not taking sex with a man, NW]? "Matthew 1:22-25 (JB) adds:" All this took place to fulfill the words of the Lord by the prophet: The virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel, a name that means "God-is-with-us. When Joseph woke up he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him to do: he took his wife to his house and, although he had not had sex with her, she gave birth to a son and named him Jesus " ;. Is it reasonable? Surely it was impossible for the Creator, who designed the human reproductive organs, to ensure the fertilization of an egg in the womb of Mary by supernatural means. Wonderfully, Jehovah transferred the life force and the personality pattern of his firstborn heavenly Son to the womb of Mary. God's own active force, his holy spirit, safeguard the development of the child in the womb of Mary, so what was a born human. perfect-Luke 1:35, John 17:5. Was Mary ever virgin? Matt. 13:53-56, JB: "When Jesus had finished these parables he left the district, and have come to his hometown, he taught the people in the synagogue so that they were amazed and said, 'Where the man this wisdom and these miraculous powers? This is the carpenter's son, right? Is not his mother, a woman called Mary, and his brothers [Greek, a · of · Phôi '] James, Joses, Simon and Judas? His sisters [Greek, a · of · Phai '], too, are they not here with us? "(On the basis of this text, one can conclude that Jesus was the only son of Mary or that she had other sons and daughters?) The New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967, vol. IX, p. 337) supports the Greek words on a · of · Phôi and a · of · Phai "used in Matthew 13:55, 56 that these" have the meaning of full blood brother and sister in the Greek-speaking world and naturally Evangelista time would be taken by the Greek reader in this regard. Towards the end of the 4th century (c. 380) in a lost job Helvidius press attributed this fact to the children other Mary, besides Jesus to make her a role model for mothers of large families. St. Jerome, motivated by the traditional faith of the Church in the perpetual virginity of Mary, wrote a treatise against Helvidius (AD 383) where he developed an explanation ... which is still in vogue among Catholic scholars. Mark 3:31-35, JB: "Your mother and brothers have arrived and, from outside, sent a message asking for him. A crowd was sitting around him at the time the message was passed to him, 'Your mother and brothers and sisters are outside asking for you. He replied: "Who are my mother and my brothers?" And looking around at those who sit in a circle around him, said: "Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother. "(Here a clear distinction between natural brothers of Jesus and his spiritual brothers, his disciples. No one pretends that the reference to the mother of Jesus means something different from what he says. Is it consistent, then, to reason that his brothers were not natural but were perhaps cousins? When you mean it is not brothers, but family, a different Greek word [syg-no-ge '] is used as in Luke 21:16.)

Note two details of the NT: When the family returns to Egypt, Joseph has fallen from the image. This means that a male relative would have taken Mary in However, we constantly traveling with Jesus, instead of remaining in place. This strongly suggests (suggests, does not prove) that Jesus may well have been her only male family member. Otherwise, it is likely that in this day and age, stayed with another family member male who did not travel much.

It does not because it was not. She and Joseph married and had other children. It tells us that Jesus had brothers. Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary and his brothers James, Joses, Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? (KJV) Matthew 13:55-56

It is curious to ask, but I note that the careful student of Scripture will find that of James, who some believe is the brother of Jesus is the son of Cleophas and Mary (a Mary differently in other words). And everyone should remember that from the cross Jesus specifically assigned the care of his mother to John (the son of thunder and the author of the book of John). Obviously, it is because she is a widow without children to others. Finally referring to some English translations of the Bible, the interpretation of the Greek word for "family" Brothers and sisters, in a place in Scripture. The real word is a broad term that simply means family. It is commonly believed by credible historians that these relatives were cousins or children of Joseph, a former wife of the old tradition held that Joseph, Jesus, stepfather, if you will, was a widower who was older than Mary. The moral of this lesson is that all you need to know Scripture, not only reads like a novel. Since it is an ancient text, it is important to understand the environment and something about the perpetrators and the way it was translated into English. I recommend the Zondervan Handbook to the Bible. A Protestant book publisher puts out, but it has plenty of historical information is very objective about your information. Moreover, what are referred to as folklore, is in fact the historical evidence that has been carefully preserved and collected by the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox churches, the oldest denominations in Christianity, which have many records and writings that are more older than the Bible and who also have the original texts that most Bibles have been translated. We also have historical and archaeological evidence of ancient Turkey, Syria and Palestine, we say things like, Mary never has been recorded as dying at any place or be buried anywhere, but he likely spent his last days on earth in ancient Ephesus with John the Apostle. Oh, and Pastor G. not studied biblical Greek to bet big money. We are talking about ancient Greek and biblical scholar looks good in the older texts and carefully compared with other texts known to obtain the most accurate translation. No one with a casual knowledge of modern Greek should claim to be an interpreter of the Bible.

It is historical fact that it was a common practice among the Jewish community in Jesus' time that parents devote one of his daughters as "Temple of the Virgins". These were young women who took vows of chastity and devoted his life to service in the Temple. This cleaning service, basically involving the Temple, laundry, etc. The Virgin Mary was one of them. The Bible does not say explicitly, but I'll get to that later. In addition, parents of the Virgin in the Temple, in order to obtain material for his daughter's future needs, would be to find a suitable man to be her husband. The purpose for the husband of the Virgin in the Temple was not to have children and raise a family, but to provide the material needs of the Virgin in the Temple. This type of marriage was seen as a sacred act and was highly revered by the Jewish community in Jesus' time. When we read that Jesus uses many allegories relating to marriage, weddings, brides, grooms and bridesmaids, we see a reflection of this reverence. In Luke, when the angel announced to Mary that she is to conceive the Messiah, he asks, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?" Presumably, Mary knew about the birds and bees, and knew how they were conceived babies. Therefore, your question makes sense only if she had taken a vow of chastity as a Virgin in the Temple. She made that promise ... a vow that she remained faithful to the mother of our Lord.

It is necessary to keep in mind when reading the scriptures and trusting in his own interpretation of the Scripture does not contain all the knowledge of Jesus, nor all of its teachings. The Bible itself attests to this fact. The biblical authors were very close to Jesus or verified through their writings they were. It was always the church that had the authority to teach and that the authority is with the Church. It was St. John who looked after the Holy Mother of God until his assumption of the glory and not a fantasy ourllord brother some may believe. The apostles and disciples of our Lord Jesus knew he was not personally acquainted with brothers and the mother of our Lord and testified in his teaching concerning this fact.
Dont Dis mother of Christ was a good Jew and he loved his mom ... He can only take it with you ....... Martin Luther Christ our Savior was the real and natural fruit of Mary's virginal womb. . . This was without the cooperation of a man, and she remained a virgin after that. Christ. . . was the only son of Mary, the Virgin Mary had other children outside. . . I tend to agree with those who argue that "brothers" really means "cousins" here, Scripture and the Jews always call cousins brothers. A new lie about me is being circulated. I am supposed to have preached and written that Mary, the Mother of God, was a virgin, either before or after the birth of Christ. . . It does not say or indicate that they lost their virginity later. . . When Matthew [1:25] says that Joseph did not know Mary carnally until she gave birth to her son does not follow that he knew then, however, means that never knew her. . . This babbling. . . is without justification. . . it has not paid attention to either Scripture or the common language. John Calvin Helvidius shows excessive ignorance in concluding that Mary must have had many children, because "the brothers of Christ" are sometimes mentioned. [In Matthew 1:25:] The inference he [Helvidius] drew from it was that Mary remained a virgin no more until their first childbirth and later had children of her husband. . . No just and well grounded inference can be drawn from these words. . . as to what happened after the birth of Christ. He is called "firstborn", but it is for the sole purpose of informing us that he was born of a virgin. . . What happened next, the historian does not inform us. . . No man will obstinately keep the argument, except for an extreme fondness for dispute. Under the word "brother" Hebrews include all cousins and other relatives, irrespective of the degree. Ulrich Zwingli It becomes, in September 1522, to a lyrical defense of the perpetual virginity of the mother of Christ. . . To deny that Mary remained "Inviolata before, during and after the birth of her son, was to doubt the omnipotence of God. . . and is fair and profitable to repeat the angelic greeting - not prayer - "Ave Maria". . . God finds Mary above all creatures, including the saints and angels - it was her purity, innocence and invincible faith that mankind must follow. Prayer, however, it should be. . . God alone. . . "Expositio Fidei," the latest brochure from his pen. . . There is an emphasis on the perpetual virginity of Mary. Zwingli had printed in 1524 a sermon on 'Mary, ever Virgin Mother of God. " I never thought, much less taught, or declared publicly, anything concerning the issue of the ever Virgin Mary, Mother of our salvation, which could be considered dishonorable, ungodly, unworthy or evil. . . I believe with all my heart as the word of the Holy Gospel that this pure virgin bore for us the Son of God, and who stayed, at birth and after it, pure and unsullied virgin, for eternity. Heinrich Bullinger Bullinger (d. 1575). . . defends the perpetual virginity of Mary. . . and attacks the false Christians who defraud her of her rightful praise: 'In Mary everything is extraordinary and all the more glorious as it has arisen from the pure faith and burning love of God. " She is "the most unique and the noblest member 'of the Christian community. . . "The Virgin Mary. . . full of grace and sanctified by the blood of His only Son and abundantly endowed by the gift of the Holy Spirit and preferred to all. . . now lives happily with Christ in heaven and is called and remains ever-Virgin Mother of God. " John Wesley (founder of Methodism) I believe ... he [Jesus] was born of the Blessed Virgin, and afterwards took him on, he continued as a virgin pure and undefiled.

 Martin Luther
Christ our Savior was the real and natural fruit of Mary's virginal womb. .
John Calvin
Helvidius shows excessive ignorance in concluding that Mary must have had many children, because "the brothers of Christ" are sometimes mentioned.
Ulrich Zwingli
It becomes, in September 1522, to a lyrical defense of the perpetual virginity of the mother of Christ. .

The Bible says that Mary remained a virgin forever. The Bible says that Mary and Joseph had children at least six more. Matthew and Luke knew that there was a different word for cousin and brother. So if Matthew means "cousin" in Matthew 13:55, he would say. Matthew used the Greek word "oleander" Lucas when he refers to Mary's cousin Elizabeth used "suggenes" to describe Elizabeth.
