The attention of the Protestants. A challenge! Can you cite a Protestant Catholic Catechism please? In Purgatory?

Please, any Protestant, cite the Catholic catechism and show us all where it says that purgatory is a second chance for salvation.

  1. Jennifer says:

They can not do, because the Catholic Church teaches that purgatory is a "second chance of salvation."
Of course, you already know, so I'm preaching to the choir here.

Quote the Bible would be more fun
      Purgatory in the Scriptures "
Some Fundamentalists also charge, as if they proved anything, "The word purgatory is nowhere found in Scripture." This is true, and yet does not disprove the existence of purgatory or the fact that the belief has always been part of the teaching of the Church. The words Trinity and Incarnation are not in Scripture either, yet those doctrines are clearly taught in it. Likewise, Scripture teaches that purgatory exists, even if you do not use that word, even if 1 Peter 3:19 refers to a different place than purgatory.
Christ refers to the sinner who "will not be forgiven, neither in this world or the coming" (Matthew 12:32), suggesting that one can be freed after the death of the consequences of sin. Similarly, Paul tells us that when they are tried, the work of each man will be judged.
What happens if I work for a just man fails the test? "He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only through fire" (1 Corinthians 3:15).
Now this loss, this penalty can not refer to consignment to hell because no one is saved there, and heaven can not say, since there is no suffering ( "fire") there. The Catholic doctrine of purgatory alone explains this passage.
Then, of course, with the approval of the Bible in prayer for the dead: "In so doing, acted in a very beautiful and noble, as he had the resurrection of the dead in the eye, because if he was not expecting the dead to rise again, would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death.
But if you have done with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. This made atonement for the dead who could be freed from this sin "(2 Mac 12:43-45).
Prayers are needed for those in heaven, and nobody can help those in hell. This means that some people should be in a third condition, at least temporarily. This verse so clearly illustrates that the existence of Purgatory, at the time of the Reformation, Protestants had to cut the books of the Maccabees in the Bible in order to avoid accepting the doctrine.
Prayers for the dead and the doctrine of purgatory as a result have been part of true religion since before the time of Christ.
Not only can we show that was practiced by the Jews of the time of the Maccabees, but even today has been retained by Orthodox Jews, who recite a prayer called the Mourner Kaddish for eleven months of after the death of a loved one so that the loved one can be purified. It was the Catholic Church added that the doctrine of purgatory.
Rather, any change in the original instruction has taken place in Protestant churches, which rejected a doctrine that had always been believed by Jews and Christians.

  4. Smeg says:

Do not expect the fundies understand the Catechism. Oh, you do not understand the Bible. Yes, you read … just do not undestand it.

  5. Lebutzke says:

1030 All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after his death a purification, in order to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.
1031 The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification of the elect, which is completely different from the punishment of damned.606 The Church formulated her doctrine of faith on Purgatory especially at the Councils of Florence and Trent. The tradition of the Church, by reference to certain texts of Scripture, speaks of a cleansing fire: 607
As for certain lesser faults, we must believe that before Doomsday, there is a purifying fire. Anyone who says it is true that whoever utters blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will be pardoned neither in this world or the next. In this sentence we understand that certain offenses can be forgiven in this age, but others at the age of come.608
1032 This teaching is also based on the practice of prayer for the dead, already mentioned in Sacred Scripture: "Therefore [Judas Maccabeus] made atonement for the dead, who could be freed from sin." 609 From the beginning, the Church has honored the memory of the dead and offered their votes in favor, especially the Eucharistic sacrifice, so that purified, can reach the beatific vision of God.610 The Church also commends almsgiving, indulgences and works of penance on behalf of the dead:
Let us help and commemorate. If Job's sons were purified by the sacrifice of his father, why should we doubt that our offerings for the dead bring them some consolation? Let us not hesitate to help those who have died and offer our prayers for them.611

    What is the question?
We are all Christians, right? What windows matter? Jesus is only returning for a church.

  7. Klute says:

Protestants generally will tell you: "There is Scripture," just realize that Catholics was compiled from the Scriptures. It was the Catholic Church, who compiled the Bible as we know it.
The only reason a Protestant who wants to read about this issue, is whether s / he is trying to discredit or is an ex-Catholic.

  8. Misty says:

Obviously you can not, the same goes with trying to prove Sola Scriptura … but I think anyway.
For Edward J - the kind of comment hurts Catholics and non Catholics led to believe something that is not true.
Purgatory does not teach that Christ's sacrifice was sufficient, but teaches that "nothing sinful or unclean can enter heaven."
We do not pay for a Mass, is a voluntary donation … not necessary. Most people donate money, because they see it as a gift in the name of the deceased. People do this all the time in other areas of life … planting trees, laying bricks, give to charity … in the name of their loved ones.
You may be a former Catholic, but you were one who do not know or understand their faith.

  9. Bill says:

Why would I? The Roman Catholic Catechism is not Scripture.
Indeed, the Eastern Orthodox Church does not believe that is a purgatory.
I think it's quite possible that this life! Happening now.

  10. Edward J says:

I am a lapsed Catholic. What is Purgatory implies that Jesus' death on the cross was insufficient to save men from their sins. So they can work out over a long period of time. I know some still practice it. Recently, my friends mother died. A family friend had paid to have a Mass for her. That really was a throw back to what Luther had problems indulgence. You can buy someone in purgatory. The principle that neither Jesus nor any of his disciples, or apostles or Mary or Joseph or Paul mentions a place called purgatory. If it was so important it would be a glaring omission of Jesus and all these other heavyweights SPIRITUAL have overlooked.

  11. savatage says:

The real challenge was reading the whole issue and not falling zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz …… asle
      ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
M zzzzzzzzz mmmm eh? so what im im at the top.
      Where am I?

  12. missmama says:

Sorry, I do not need it.

  13. Peter S says:

Can I buy an indulgence, please?

  14. ka3udr says:

There is no such place. This is a scam designed to make people pay money to get members of the family to have priests pray for the dead.

  15. Darren says:

Never was there a purgatory in the Bible. In fact, heaven and hell is the only place where a person will be the place after his death. This is just a Catholic belief joke made by the Pope.
