I think they have lost the point, priests can marry.they simply can not be married and a priest.

I remember the TV series, but not very well as I was only a teenager at the time … anyway, forbidding priests to marry is not natural. Even the Bible says - Paul calls for being married as a preventive against sexual sin. The result is that many priests break the rules. I realize that there are a number of Catholic seminaries who have a "gay mafia" within them. People who can be truly celibate are extremely rare and the result is that the Catholic Church has almost institutionalized lying. The Thorn Birds is a good illustration of the fact that many priests have feelings for women, but have to remain permanently frustrated, or having sex outside marriage a secret.
Curiously, it is only the Catholic Church imposed this requirement. Catholic churches of other rites allow priests to marry. The Orthodox churches allow priests to marry, but then can not progress in the episcopate, the bishops must be celibate. And the celibacy requirement was imposed only in 1139! More details of how this happened are in the link below.
One result of all this is that the number of new priests drops precipitously, and the Catholic Church could be found in British and the French position, which is even more secular than the United Kingdom and has very few priests to serve the Catholic population ( the number has fallen by over 25% in the last ten years) who have to travel long distances and in many places Catholics rarely have a priest to celebrate mass. In the weeks between having to resort to various imaginative ways to receive communion on Sunday.

I loved the movie and I agree with you that is bad for the Catholic Church to forbid priests to marry.
However, for long, which has been the way the Catholic Church has controlled his possessions, ensuring that there was no one to inherit anything. So it's not a practice that was discontinued in the near term.

The Catholic Church does not forbid anyone to marry.
The men who choose the priesthood accept the discipline of celibacy. Just as those who choose to marry will accept the discipline of monogamy.
When a man becomes a priest who is well aware that not marry and refuses to have sex.
Jesus says: "Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage because of 9 for the kingdom of heaven. Who can accept this should accept. "
The priests who have renounced marriage for the kingdom of heaven.
If a man wants to marry Catholics, then does not become a priest. Nobody forces you to become a priest and then forces him to celibacy, who freely choose it.

I read the bird book spines.
The idea of Catholic priests and nuns do not marry is not the Bible and that due to the control of religious people.
Personally, I think the Coke allows surrogates to marry and have children and understand family life is much more sensitive

This shows that priests are human beings who have human emotions.
Catholicism has the bad habit of putting his clergy on a pedestal divine, almost to the point of worship as divine creatures.
