What exactly is the difference between Catholic Christians and Protestant?
"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
Only by grace through faith in Christ's saving work and not for any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping and calling us to good works.
There are many minor issues and the doctrine of some major traditional cultural differences that I think does not matter much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of his new church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

Christian means you're a follower of Christ … you believe Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again.
In the category of "Christian" (I do not use the word religion because I think I have a personal relationship with Christ) are sub-categories and names, each with slightly different ways of doing things. Catholics and Protestants are two of the subgroups, and each of them have sub-sub-groups (called names).
It's confusing, I know … why I'm going to a church denomonational, which only adhere to the Bible, and no extra traditions.
not much, it seems that they hate
Protestant is a branch of the Catholic (in protest of Catholics, Protestants, therefore), but both are forms of Christianity.
Catholics officially presented to the Pope's authority in matters of doctrine and biblical interpretation. They also have some unique practices (such as praying to saints, veneration of Mary, etc.) and some unique doctrines (like purgatory, the immaculate conception, papal infallibility - do not jump on me, Catholics, know it is only ex cathedra - the doctrine of merit, etc.) that differentiate them from the Protestants.
Protestants separated from the Catholic Church in the 16th century, after centuries of trying to "reform" what they saw as the corrupt practices of the Church and the doctrines. Therefore, the 16th century is often known as the Reformation. There are many Protestant denominations, but are generally known for denying the authority of the Pope, and to state what is known as "Solas" of the Reformation:
Sola Gratia (grace alone - as opposed to the grace and merit)
Sola fidei (faith alone - as opposed to faith and works)
Sola Christi (Christ Alone - as opposed to Christ and the Church)
Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone - as opposed to Scripture and tradition)
Many Protestant denominations stress "soul competency" - that is, the ability of each person to relate to God through Christ as mediator, not through a priest or pope.
Because both Catholics and Protestants worship Jesus Christ as God, are called Christians. Also included are "orthodox" denominations such as Russian, Greek, Ukrainian Orthodox, etc.
Hope this helps.
That depends on who you ask Catholics
will give you something like "Catholics are Christians, like all other Christians will" Christians are those who believe in the death of one reserection said: "Son of God" will Protestans "We are those who seceded from Catholics …." To be honest, you give everyone a different answer. Decomposing though … Catholics are those who are 200 years late and still believe in saints and / or 'preists. Christians are more or less Christian … Christ, the Son of God … who believe in it …. and the Bible, is based off of the "biography" of Christ …
And finally, Protestant … He separated from the Catholics said some million and a half years, are somewhat a mix between a Christian and Catholic traditions have some pretty damn curious … but what I understood who believe in Christ. …
I hope answered your question

Christians may be Catholic or Protestant. The Roman Catholic Church the first Christian church was actually organized. Then there was a reform, and Catholics changed some of its worst practices such as giving money to people to heaven, and Lutherans and other Protestants also split from the Roman Catholic Church.
Catholics and Protestants are Christians.
Same family, but have not settled the argument of the family.
Protestants, being so wicked enough to make liars of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Apostles, have to wonder if Catholics continually slander, saying and believing absurdities worse about them than the heathens? What is more absurd than to preach that Catholics worship stocks and stones of the gods, creating images of Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and other saints to pray with them, and put their trust in them that worship a god of bread and wine, that your sins are forgiven by the priest, without repentance and amendment of life, the pope or anyone else can give permission to commit sin, or who, for a sum of money that forgiveness of sins can be obtained? In these and similar absurdities and slander, simply replied: "Cursed is he who believes in such nonsense and untruths, which wickedly Protestants by the children of the Catholic Church. All these serious violations are another source of his disapproval.
"But what faith can we learn from these false teachers when, following the separation of the Church which does not have a rule of faith? … Calvin How often changed their views! And during his life, Luther was constantly contradicting himself: in the single article of the Eucharist, he fell in thirty-three contradictions! A contradiction alone is enough to show that he has the Spirit of God. "He can not deny himself" (II Timothy 2:13). In short, remove the authority of the church or divine revelation and natural reason itself is useful for each of them can be interpreted by each individual according to their whims … Do not you see that awareness of this freedom has emerged bloody immense variety of heretical and atheistic sects? … I repeat: if you take the obedience to the Church, no error is not accepted.

It begins with 'christian' world religion means believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of mankind.
Then comes the different denominations.
In short, Catholics have been around longer. In 1500 there was a Uprise and a division of the Catholic Church. Since then, there are hundreds (maybe even thousands) of different divisions or denominations. All interpret things a little different (ie the Bible as fact, Adam and Eve as real people), but all must have Jesus in the center.
There are other 'religions' that Christian ideals in general, as the Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, etc. but can not see Christ as their Savior final.
What exactly is the difference between Catholic and Protestant Christian?
Catholic: Latin for universal, is a Christian denomination with the Head of the Church is the Pope or intity Pope.this is known as the Roman Catholic Church.
Protestant or reformers are those who broke with the RCC to protest the church traditions that are not scripturual requirements. see Martin Luther.
Christian: It was coined in Antioch as a slurred. The modern equivalent of "Jesus Freak, Bible Thumper". respect to any denomination that believes in Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God.
There are amny labels that are used by many people, but it's all man. Jesus said to those called by my name. Protestant, not Catholic, Lutheran. all denominations are Christians, but not everyone is a Christian denomination.
24Strive to enter through the narrow door for many, I say, try to enter, and may not.
25When once the master of the house is up and shut the door, and ye begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open, and he shall answer and say unto you, I know not Where are you from:
26Then ye begin to say: We ate and drank in your presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27But say, I say, I know not where are you, depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
Among those who call themselves "Christians and Protestants, there is no fundamental difference. Everyone subscribe Luther 'Sola Scriptura' (only the Bible) and 'Sola fidei (faith alone).
However, a fundamental difference between Roman Catholics and Christians of the Bible is how to answer this question: With what divine authority religious and doctrinal disputes should be settled definitively? What should be our divine rule after accepting that teaching is indeed a saving truth of God?
For Christians the Bible, the Bible Alone ( "Scripture alone" sola scriptura), first introduced by Martin Luther (an Augustinian friar above) is the test. Whereby: stick to what was explicitly written in the Bible. This is the fundamental argument behind all charges to throw the Bible Christians against Catholic doctrines.
BUT, nowhere you can find "Sola Scriptura" in the Scriptures by the words actually used in the inspired text, as in the Trinity, which also accept the Protestants, as transubstantiation, and even the "chair Moses "," cathedram Mosi "(Mt 23:2). And nowhere can be captured in Scripture for the concept, as with other concepts of Scripture or familiar topics and proposed by the eminent ancient biblical authority (as Jerome and Augustine). In fact, this concept was distributed in 16th century by religious rebels, and although to this day modern Protestant theologians have yet to demonstrate that this idea is "obviously" taught anywhere in Scripture, and much unless it is "obvious" mentioned by word in the manuscripts.
Not only is the fundamental teaching on issues, but even the Bible is referenced. The books of the Scriptures were originally written in ancient Hebrew and Greek. However, the original texts and not preserved - and long lost in history. In addition, manuscripts, said Cardinal Gibbons, "was for several centuries in fragments, scattered in different parts of Christendom" (The Faith of Our Fathers, 67) and therefore the sacred and canonical had to be collected and More importantly, separating the spurious FOM.
The "official" Bible of the Christians of the Bible, the King James Version (KJV or KJB), commissioned only in 1601 by King James I of England, and was published in 1611. Moreover, the translation was based solely on mere old transcripts, which greatly differ even more fundamentally between their versions of themselves. Why and what the original texts, was inspired by the RV (and even modern translations) is checked for accuracy and fidelity? Adding to the difficulty of the text in its vast knowledge of Scripture is the limited proficiency in the ancient language of the original biblical scholars behind the modern translation (s) that, according to Thomas Nelson, a famous Catholic writer and editor, "who have thus had to learn the dead [languages] over time, in the course of 1600 years! "(What you should read the Bible?, 18). What guarantee do you have the following version of the Bible (s) quoted by the self-proclaimed Christian preachers and the Bible itself "sola Scriptura", boasts that the only rule of faith and Christian life is really divinely inspired books of the Old and New Testaments, whole and entire, with all its parts "(ie, in the words of Pope Benedict XV in his encyclical Spiritus Paraclitus, the divine inspiration extends to every phrase - and indeed, to every word. .. ")?
Let's consider this a problem in translation venerable passage (s):
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). The passage actually says that all Scripture, without distinction, without discrimination, and even without a critical examination must be in accordance with what was initially installed by oral instructions, judgments and prophecies (with special attention to verses 3 and 4 of Chapter 24 of the Book of Exodus), is inspired. Some urgent questions: Why keep and maintain until the day of the sentence of a non-Christian religion (the Jewish) in the rejection of the 7 Deuterocanonical books of the Catholic Canon of the Old Testament (ie the books of Tobit, Judith Wisdom, Ecclisiasticus, Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees), which was the Canon of the Old Testament of Christianity for hundreds of years (until the revolt of Luther)? Would not this be highly anomallous as totally incompatible with its decision, the fundamental teaching of the "Sola Scriptura", and here, what the Bible says and teaches that it is "obvious", "explicit" and unambiguous? Why slow to include in its canon of texts from others about the Lord, but rejected by the Roman Catholic Church?
Now, with the same fundamental question, what the Catholics have to say? For us, "Faith comes by hearing" (St. Paul to the Romans 10:17). And hear the voice of the pastors appointed by God, "the elders of the church … [that] the Holy Spirit has made you … bishops, to govern the church … "(Acts 20.17, 28). This has always been the consistent way of Divine Pedagogy. "And now, O Israel, listen to the commandments and duties that I will teach you, that make them, you may live, and do not be afraid to come into possession of the land which the LORD God of your parents give you. And you shall observe and comply in practice. This is your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of nations, that hearing all these precepts, we can say: Here is a wise and understanding people, a great nation "(Deut 4.1,6). "And ye shall know that I sent you this commandment, to be my covenant with Levi [the Levitical priesthood is" an everlasting covenant ":" This was for him an everlasting covenant, and their offspring as the days of heaven, implement the mandate of the priesthood, and to praise and glorify his people in his name "(Eccli 45.19, cf. 40.13 Ex Num 25.13, Acts 14.22, 1 Tim 5:17; Tit 1, 5).] saith the Lord of hosts. The law of truth was in his mouth … Because the priest's lips keep knowledge, and they [the people of God], it seeks the law into his mouth: he is the angel of the Lord of hosts "(Mal 2. 4, 6, 7). The Word of God set forth below: "… listen to the Church, the foundation and pillar of truth "(Mt 18:17; 1 Tim 3:15).
The Protestant churches teach the Scriptures, without traditions added.
The Bible teaches that only Scripture is the supreme and infallible authority of the Church and the individual believer. This does not mean that the creeds and traditions are important, but only the Bible is our final authority. The creeds and tradition are manmade.
Jesus said, "Scripture can not be broken" (John 10:35). He said: "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth, not a letter, not least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished" (Matthew 5:18) . He said: "It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to leave the law" (Luke 16:17).
Jesus used Scripture as the final court of appeal in all matters in dispute. He said to some Pharisees: "You nullify the word of God by your tradition that have sent" (Mark 7:13). For the Sadducees, he said, "You are wrong, because they know the Scriptures nor the power of God." (Matthew 22:29). Hell, Jesus replied: "It is written …" (Matthew 4:4-10). So following the example of Jesus, the Scriptures alone are our supreme authority and final.
The Protestants split from the Catholic Church because he disagreed with the traditions that have been held as the authority instead of the word of God of the Bible.
Dr. Boettner then gives us "some Roman Catholic heresies and inventions" and the dates that the alleged "apostolic" traditions were added to the Roman Catholic theology —
* Prayers for the dead, began about AD 300
* Making the sign of the cross 300
* Veneration of angels and dead saints, and the use of images of 375
* The Mass as a daily celebration 394

* Public Schools condemned by Pope Pius XI 1930
* Assumption of the Virgin Mary (bodily ascension into heaven shortly after her death), proclaimed by Pope Pius XII 1950
* Mary, Mother of the Church proclaimed by Pope Paul VI, 1965
And then Dr. Boettner concludes:
Add to these many others: monks - monasteries of nuns - convents - forty days of Lent - Holy Week - Palm Sunday - Ash Wednesday - All Saints - Candlemas Day - day of fishing - days of meat - incense - anointing oil - holy palms - Christopher medals - charms - nines - and more.
There you have it - proof of the melancholy of growing out of Rome of the simplicity of the gospel, such a radical and powerful today (1965) that there has been a drastic against the Evangelical Church. It is clear beyond doubt that the Roman Catholic religion as practiced now is the result of centuries of error. Human inventions have been replaced by biblical truth and practice. The intolerance and arrogance have replaced the love and kindness and tolerance that were the distinctive qualities of first-century Christians, so now in Catholic countries, Protestants and others who are sincere believers in Christ, but that does not give Pope's authority is subject to any restrictions and in some cases even forbidden to practice their religion. The distinctive attitude of the present Roman Church was set largely by the Council of Trent (1545-1563), with its more than 100 anathemas or curses against all those who now or in future dares to disagree with their decisions.
This is primarily a historical question. First, everything starts with Christianity. From there it splits into two groups: Catholics and Protestants. Both are Christians. The Catholic Church is the original church founded by Christ and has been around for 2000 + years. It was not until the 1500s when there was the Protestant Reformation and the separation of the Church. Since then, Protestantism has continued to splinter into thousands of different denominations.
Most of the time the Catholic Church is accused of being unbiblical and non-Christians, because of misconceptions, such as prayer to Mary, the saints, confession, purgatory, etc. Again, these misconceptions are wrong. The Catholic Church is Biblical and is actually where the present Christian Bible came from the beginning. Recently entered the church two years ago, after much study and can say that Catholics are Christians.
Dogma and a collection of dogmas which is called an "ism". When defenders of dogmas and isms supporters lacked enough charisma to convince people through the power of their personalities, they tried to convince them that taking God's name. Others operated openly on behalf of the Supreme Court. Sometimes, he said, "I have received specific instructions in a dream. The commandments of God is that you must follow these instructions. "At other times they intimidate people by saying," If you violate these commandments will suffer eternal damnation. "Thus, complexes formed in the minds of people, and forced them to accept all kinds of dogma and fear follow. When you look at it from this perspective, there is really no difference.
Catholics continue to Roman Catholicism and everybody including Christians are Protestants. Catholics are not Christians, but Christians are Protestants … make sense?
Catholics and Protestants are Christians. Protestants came after from going against the Catholic Church.
Both are lame.
Catholics are Christians. Protestants are those who seceded from the Church. Bible, fundamentalists are fundamentalists of the Bible — people who believe what they want to believe.
This is just one example of the hundreds of differences between Catholics and Christians, where Catholics say that "Peter was the rock"
God is the rock: The Bible says that God is a rock 34 times in the Old Testament, the definition of a rock cliff Hebrew tablet is a property that has great strength, figuratively shelter. When King David was saved from Saul and all enemies of God said: "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. "(Psalm 18:2) David would also say" For who is God save the Lord, or who is a rock save our God. God is the girdeth me with strength and makes my way perfect. "(Psalm 18:31-32) King David also tells us, because God is the rock, then you can not move because it is their safety and shelter" He only is my rock and my salvation, he is my defense; No I will be very moved. "(Psalm 62:2) Moses, who showed the Israelite from Egypt to the promised land, had a great responsabiltity to warn and instruct them in the ways of God, but trust yourself or for humanity help, he put his trust in God and said, "Because I will publish the name of the Lord our God magnify you. He is the Rock, His work is perfect, and all His ways are justice: God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. "(Deuteronomy 32:3-4)
JESUS IS THE ROCK: The potatoes in the state of the Catholic Church that Christ told Peter that God's church will be built on it, in reference to where Jesus is having a conversation with the disciples and asked who believe that Jesus is "Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said, Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. "(Matthew 16:16-18) To resolve this you have to look to the Greek, Peter` s name comes from the Greek word petros which means a small stone or a piece of stone, When Christ said "upon this rock" , Petra is the Greek word which means a mass of rock, so Jesus was not referring to Peter and was the founding of the church, but to himself as Peter gave the answer in the beginning of the verse: "You are Christ, the Son of the living God "The Old Testament prophet Isaiah prophesied," Therefore thus saith the Lord God, behold, I lay in Zion a stone for the foundation, a tried stone, a cornerstone, precious, a sure foundation : he that believeth shall not make haste. "(Isaiah 28:16) Only Christ could fit this prophecy was tried for example, was tempted by Satan in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights in the garden of Gethsemane was arrested and betrayed by Judus on the cross, where the sins of the world and the punishment because it was loaded, when his disciples deserted him and denied it, Peter certainly did not fit this description. Jesus himself told the Jewish religious leaders that he was the rock "Jesus said, you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lords doing , and it is marvelous in our eyes. "(Matthew 21:42) Paul told the Corinthian church that Jesus is the only basis" other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. "(1 Corinthians 3:11) If we build our lives on the teachings of Jesus that are the foundation stone, we will be able to withstand any problems that arise in our lives, as Jesus said" Therefore, all who hears these words of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man who built his house upon the rock and the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell not because he was founded on rock. And every hearrth that these words of mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man who built his house upon the sand and the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell: and great was the ruin. "(Matthew 7:24-29)
PETER `S CONFESSION: If Peter is the rock that the church was built, you would think that the Bible mentions that the declaration of at least once in the scriptures? Instead of Peter confessed that Christ is the "cornerstone" that the Church must be based on "Wherefore also it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious and Whoever believes in Him shall not be confused. Unto you therefore which believe He is precious, but to them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, as did the head of the corner and a stone of stumbling and rock of offense, even for those who stumble in the word, being disobedient to which also they were appointed. "(1 Peter 2:6-8) The reason Peter said this is because Christ is the only one who can strengthen and unite believers in the church and keep them together. Peter also tells us that if we believe in Jesus, must not "confused", which comes from the Greek word Kataischuno (Kat-Canoita-skoo-'no) it means to be embarrassed or feel shame, disgrace or dishonor. If you love Jesus ", NT, rather than who is in control of the church? as He is omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresence, that man is totally impossible! Paul taught the same endocrine believers in the church of Ephesus: "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints, and the family of God, and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Jesus Christ Himself is the chief cornerstone. "(Ephesians 2:19-20) The Old Testament prophets and the apostles all agreed in their teaching that Christ was the only basis on which the church must be based on.
Did Peter have more authority: "Peter has a unique authority over the other disciples? The answer is no! Peter never once claimed to have more authortiy then the other eleven disciples, but rather, told believers who desire should'nt dominion over each other "Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but still paragons of flock "(1 Peter 5: 3). A believer named Cornelius approached Peter and fell at his feet with reverence, but Peter said to rise "And as Peter entered, Cornelius met him came and fell at his feet and worshiped him, but Peter took him up, saying, Arise I myself also am a man. "(Acts 10:25-26) If Peter had more authority and was in charge, this would mean that no one could tell what to do or how, but this is not the case with Paul rebuked Peter, when he has committed a mistake "When Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to his face because he was guilty." (Galatians 2:11) Peter himsef never claimed to have more authority than the other disciples, rather, said that was a "witness," but no one with authority "The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory which shall be revealed, feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by compulsion but willingly, not for filthy lucre, but of a prepared mind. "(1 Peter 5:1-2) The Second Epistle of Peter reiterates that a" witness "," Because we have not followed fables, when you released the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. "(2 Peter 1:16) Peter was not only authority, but was privileged to preach the gospel first to the Jews in which three thousand people were added to the church (Acts 2:14-41), then the Gentiles. (Acts 10:34-38) In Mark's gospel is a story were the twelve disciples are arguing about who is the most important and must have authority, Jesus answered and said to the disciples to be humble "They came to Capernaum : and the house he asked them, What is it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? But silent: by the way they had discussed among themseleves, which must be the greatest. And he sat down and called the twelve, and said: If anyone wants to be first, it will be the last of all and servant of all. "(Mark 9:33-35) If Peter was the authority with which Jesus said he would So in this passage of Scripture to affirm the leadership Peters, why did'nt say head then Jesus Peters? Because man is the head of the apostles, but Jesus is the head of the apostles, as Jesus himself said: "You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so I am. Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord, neither he that is sent greater than he who sent him. "(John 13:13,16) After the resurrection of Jesus told his disciples and gave them a last commandment that says" Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, until the end of the world. "(Matthew 28:20) When Jesus gave this commandment, the authority was not only for Peter, who was to the apostles as well, and the authority is for all believers, then and now who trust Christ as their savior.
Peter had "the keys to heaven" Peter was not the only one who has the "keys of heaven" "And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "(Matthew 16:19) was all the disciples," Then he commanded his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ. "(Matthew 16: 20). What are the "keys", keys of heaven are described in Matthew 18:18 "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever you loose on earth loosed in heaven. "
"Feed my sheep" "When they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonah, do you love me more than these? He said, Yes, Lord, you know I love you. He said said he tells lambs. He Feed my second time, Simon son of Jonah, do you love me? He said, Yes, Lord, you know I love you. He said: "Feed my sheep. He told him the third time, Simon son of Jonah, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said a third time, do you love me? And he said, Lord, you know everything, you know I love you. Jesus said "Feed my sheep. "(John 21:15-17) This is not only Peter, but all the elders as Peter commanded them" Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by compulsion but willingly, not by filthy lucre, but of a ready mind "(1 Peter 5:2) Paul says the same thing to other elders" Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Ghost hath made overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood. "(Acts 20:28)
Peter the "first Pope" Infallible WAS: If Peter was infallible would have to be perfect, but Peter made mistakes! therefore not infallible, this also could deny the central Christian doctrine of Christ to go to the cross, which Peter made a mistake, and like Jesus to rebuke "From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and resurrected the third day. Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this is not thee. But you turned and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense to me : for you savor not the things that are God's, but those are men. " (Matthew 16:21-23) Peter made another mistake to place Christ at the same level as Moses and Elijah "Then Peter answered and said unto Jesus, Lord, is good for us to be here: if you want, let us make here three flags, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice from the cloud saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I delight ; hear him. "(Matthew 17:4-5) also Peter denied Christ 3 times" Then Jesus said to them, All ye shall be offended because of me tonight, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered after abroad. But that has risen to go before you Galilee.Peter said to him: Even if all fall away from you, but it never be offended. Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, that tonight, before the cock crows you will deny me thrice.Peter told him, though I must die with you, but I will not deny you. Likewise also said all the disciples. "" Now Peter sat without in the palace, and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilean. But he denied before them all saying, I do not know what you mean. And when he came out in the porch, another maid saw him and said to those who were there, This was with Jesus of Nazareth. And again he denied with an oath: Do not know the man. And after a while came to him that were there and said to Peter: Surely thou also art one of them, because you speak your bewrayeth. Then he began to curse and swear, saying, I do not know the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said: Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went outside and wept bitterly. "(Matthew 26:31-35,69-75)
