My opinion: trying to keep the congregation awake. Trust me, without humor, the church can be the most boring place in the world. Think about it, you go to a place where you're being "taught" on a piece of Scripture, you probably already know and understand. I see no potential for boredom.

Most people enjoy humor, especially in situations unlikely. I am sure that the priest is trying to be friendly with students and teach them in a way that is not boring and is in its comprehensibility. Cheer up, you may actually learn something from him.

I see no problem with the priest to inject some humor in class, provided that our priests do not do it during mass however, there is a time and place for everything and the sacredness of the Mass is one of those times.

I see nothing wrong with a good sense of humor, as long as not mocking Christ or the teachings of the Catholic faith.

Well to make the sermon more entertaining I guess. My friends in the church has a priest who always tells jokes and the whole church is in stitches. There is nothing wrong with a little humor as long as it is tasteful.

They do it to make people feel alert and entertained. Remember that his jokes have a meaning behind what you preach. Pay attention.

They are trying to make religion seem more fun it will be more attractive to younger people.

Everyone should have a sense of humor in all professions. Some jokes never hurt. The people are too serious these days.
