Why Hate Protestant Mary?

The Blessed Mother of Christ is rightly venerated by Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians Easter. She is the vessel through which the Savior came to our world through the power of the Holy Spirit, how could not be considered holy? It was at the birth of Christ and His crucifixion. He was also with the apostles when the Holy Spirit descended upon them at Pentecost. Beautiful prayers for her, the Hail Mary and the Magnificent, can be found in the Gospel of Luke. Revelation 12:1-5 describes as Queen of Heaven. However, many Protestant denominations have a great hostility even hatred toward her. Why is that?

  1. bindysdo says:

Mary does not love … I'm a Protestant Christian Personelly I have never heard of us as the Mother of Jesus ….. She is highly respected among us. We have a different view, of course, in place in the Bible than you, but that's all.

  2. Kevin S says:

The question is a little weak. It is not "Protestants" who hate Mary, is a much smaller subdivision of the Christian fundamentalists who do. They claim that should not be prayed for because she is dead, well, if you are truly dead, then there is hope for the rest of Christendom.
Saying "this is not mentioned in the Bible" and "when the Bible says that" no sense. If the Bible says nothing about something, you can use to condemn or support a practice. And so many fundies do, Jeanmarie response is contaminated with it. Logic is faulty and flawed as thinking that leads people to believe all the stupidity Jack Chick teaches.
Catholics venerate Mary. For the last time. No love.

  3. Apollo says:

Because of his struggle to get away from the Catholic Church as much as possible and see how Catholics worship Mary and the honor of as much as possible, strive to get away from it. Some Protestant churches do not even have crucifixes, stained glass, or other family qualities Church because they try so hard to get away from that original Christianity is Catholicism.

  4. vr63 says:

I do not hate. It was a great lady. Revelation 12:1-6 refers to the nation of Israel, not Mary.
      Luke 1:46-48
46 And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
48 And hath regarded the lowliness of his servant, behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
      (KJV)

  5. Capt. CB; seguidor de Cristo! says:

No Protestant who claims to be a Christian can hate, dislike, or otherwise abuse the name of the Virgin Mary.
She is the mother of Jesus, the son of God, and anyone who offers any kind of hatred towards it not a Christian. No prayer or through it as the Bible says we have an advocate to God through Jesus Christ. But she is a lady highly respected with the highest honor in the Protestant Christian faith.

  6. utwhever says:

I think it is wrong. I do not hate Mary. She was the mother of Jesus. Why, how could anyone hate? We may have some differences in their role in our prayers, but not to the point of hatred. Far from it. God called her Mary. I certainly do not call less than what God did.

  7. HyperSon says:

We do not hate the Virgin Mary of Scripture, but love as a sister in Christ. But Christians reject the Catholic Mary because she is the one we in the Bible.

  8. C says:

Revelation 12:1-5 teaches no such thing.
Jeremiah 7:17-19 speaks of how angry God to worship called "Queen of Heaven." Would you like to provoke the wrath of God?

  9. Matthew says:

Protestants do not hate the Blessed Virgin. She was a wonderful godly woman.
But do not worship or bow to statues of her, or pray with her.

  10. hasse_jo says:

Most do not hate her. It must have been a great woman. However, now dead, and in the grave, knowing nothing, awaiting resurrection.

  11. The Dark Side says:

They do not. Just do not see why Catholics love their look, and consider Catholicism to be wrong about that.

  12. Nick says:

I have friends who love her say Baptist.

      Talk about brainwashing.

  13. Adam (of the wired) says:

because they have no respect for her. I do not know why, but it seems certain that began with an early heracies

  14. Helen says:

Not true. We just worship God alone

  15. Bobby Jim says:

OMG! Who told you the lie that the Protestants hate Mary? !
Mary is revered among Protestants by his role to put Jesus in the world. Of course, not hate.
What NOT to do is revere above maturity. If there is hostility, which is addressed to the Roman Catholic Church to elevate their status as Co-Redeemer!
Mary was chosen by the grace of carrying only begotten Son of God. And according to his own ad in the Magnificat, she recognized her own need for a Savior!

  16. Wolfebla says:

Apparently they think Catholics worship her and treat her like a goddess. Nothing could be further from the truth, but to those raised on a steady diet of Jack Chick tract and shed hate Catholics from the pulpit, could also try telling that to a brick wall.
We honor Mary to say "Yes" at the request of God, even though she knew she was risking her life when she agreed to bring Jesus into this world. We love her as the beautiful model that is Christian: loyal, loving. compassionate, and trustworthy. And we ask her maternal intercession for our needs, like any Christian believer ask others to pray for us.
But the cult to her and commit the sin of idolatry against God? Not a chance. We worship God and only him.
How many Protestants who believe that. . . Well, lotsa luck.
      Edit:
      About the "Co-Redeemer" of business:
That is a very controversial idea, even among Catholics, and is not an official church doctrine. It is also a much misunderstood concept.
In this case, the prefix "co" does not mean "equal". "A" with "as in" co-dependent. " Mary cooperated with God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, so it worked * with * God.
At no time is considered equal to him. No creature, regardless of purity and love, is equal to its Creator. That would be idolatry, so that Catholics worship only God.

  17. Michala says:

I also think its funny how millions of dispensationalists who believe in "The Rapture" may scoff at the idea of Mary being taken to heaven, but they think they will be taken by the power of Christ, just before all the Jews , Muslims, Hindus and Catholics are "Left Behind" to be sacrificed.
The meaning of the word "worship" has changed over the centuries in Protestant lands. The Protestant sense of the word is equivalent to latria, whereas in the past meant any kind of honor. The British days to this address judges as "Your Excellency" and "Your Excellency" - and I know no one accuses them of idolatry.
Mary is the greatest of all Saints and thus imitating the Christian obedience is a way of holiness … It is Mary's obedience to God.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

  18. Jeanmari says:

Mary was blessed. We do not hate Mary.
      Just do not worship him.
Fellow Sisters in Christ, please take the time to read everything I write here.
There's nothing about Mary in this verse, nor is "Ave Maria" anywhere in the Bible.
      Revelation 21:1-5 (New International Version)
      The New Jerusalem
1Then saw a new heaven and new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there was no Tues 2I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3Y heard a loud voice from heaven saying: "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them. And they shall be His people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. "
5he who sat on the throne said: "I am making everything new!" He said, "Write, for these words are trustworthy and true."
Mary was present at Pentecost. The apostles received the Holy Spirit and the Bible does not mention that she did.
Nor does the Bible mention anything about it after that.
In the book of rev asks: "Who is worthy to open these rolls?" Nobody but Jesus was worth, why? Because it is the only one with sin.
I used to attend the RCC as a child. I read the new test for me and realized the only one who can pray to God / Jesus.
Mary can hear us? Are you ubiquitous? How is it possible if not God?
What does the RCC teach and how it compares with the Bible?:
The Roman Catholic Church (ICR) teaches:
—- The prayers of intercession through Mary.
They say that Mary is the mediator and the Bible says: "There is one mediator between God and man, Jesus is the Christ" 1 Tim 1:2
Hebrews 7:25 says why he [Jesus] is able to save completely those who come unto God by him, always lives to intercede for them. "Ephesians 3:12 says," In whom [Jesus) have boldness and access with confidence through faith in him. "
If Jesus is constantly interceding for us and He is able to save "at best" (totally, totally), then you need the help of Mary. If we approach God with "boldness" and "trust" because of our faith in Jesus, then we do not need Mary's help either.
"The RCC teaches the traditions of men over the Bible.
Immaculate Conception - Mary was preserved from every stain of original sin from the first moment of conception. ( "Catechism" 490-492).
In Luke 1:46-47, Mary said: "My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." Mary knew she needed a savior. From what was saved?
      - The RCC teaches all holy - Mary, "the All Holy," lived a sinless life. ( "Catechism" 411, 493)
Romans 3:23 says: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Revelation 15:4 says, "Who would not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. " Romans 3:10 says, "There is none righteous, no not one". Jesus is the only person referred to in Scripture as sin. Hebrews 4:15 says, "we have not an high priest which can not be touched with the feelings of our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin". 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "Because he has made it sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of God in him." 1 Peter 2:22 says, "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth."
In the Book of Revelation, when they were looking for someone who was worthy to break the seals and open the book, the only person who was found to be worthy was Jesus. No one else in heaven or on earth (including Mary) was worthy to open the scroll or even look at him. (Revelation 5:1-5)
      - RCC teaches
Perpetual Virginity - Mary was a virgin before, during and after the birth of Christ. ( "Catechism" 496-511)
Matthew 1:24-25 says, "Then Joseph got up from sleep did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took unto him his wife, and she did not know until she gave birth to her firstborn son: and called his name Jesus. "" Till "(until) means that after that point, Joseph did" know "(have sex with) Mary. (See Genesis 4:1 where Adam "knew" Eve and she conceived and bore a son.)
Jesus had brothers and sisters. The Bible tells us, even their names. Matthew 13:54-56 says, "
And when he reached his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said: Where are born of this man this wisdom and these miracles? Is not this the carpenter? S son? Is not his mother called Mary? His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters are they not all with us? "
The people RCC may be the kindest, most sincere people, but they are being deceived by the great deceiver.
I have also heard many of the so-called church of Mary Co-redeemer of Jesus.
The RCC teaches —- Queen of Heaven - God has exalted Mary in heavenly glory as Queen of Heaven and earth. ( "Catechism" 966) She is to be praised with special devotion. ( "Catechism" 971, 2675)
Psalm 148:13 says, "Praise the name of the Lord, his name alone is excellent, his glory is above earth and heaven." This makes it very clear that God alone? S name (not Mary? S) is to be exalted. (In the Catholic Bible the numbering of chapters and verses of some of the Psalms is slightly different.)
When people tried to give Mary special honor and prominence because she was his mother, Jesus corrected.
"And it happened as he said these things, a business woman raised her voice and said: Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it. "(Luke 11:27-28)
In chapters four and five of the Book of Revelation, we are given a very detailed picture of Heaven. God is seated on the throne, surrounded by 24 elders and four living creatures. The Lamb (Jesus) is standing in the center of the throne. Thousands upon thousands of angels around the throne, singing praises to God. And Mary is not in the picture at all.
The RCC has many idols, many are Mary, who are adorned with jewels and paraded on certain holidays on a throne.
Proverbs 14:12 says: "There is a path that seems right to man but its end is the way of death." Our mind can be deceived by what can the mind of the bishops and popes. Only the Bible is totally reliable. When religious traditions conflict with the literal meaning of Scripture then we need to discard the traditions. We can not afford to do otherwise, because our eternal destiny is at stake.

  19. cashelma says:

The word "hate" is not correct. And this attitude is not the Protestants. I agree with Kevin S, is the attitude of these fundamentalists.
Seems to have pushed some buttons on some respondents.
Oh, and a poster, "C", would like to take chicken tract as its source. This is the way that hatred is spewed. I can not imagine that this subject is taught. How do these cults, even think they are Christians when they do not build their faith with nothing but desecrate other religions.
I do not like the use of "cult," "idolatry" or "She was a sinner" in his vocabulary.
We can not know the subjective state of the souls of heretics manifest, we can not know how God may or may not illuminate the souls of invincible ignorance. But we can and we know what it has revealed about himself, and we tell others that Gospel. We can and we know what he told us about his church, and we must bring people to it. We can and we know what he told us to do, and we must. And we must do these things with firmness, courage, wisdom and great love, all while asking for mercy for sinners, including ourselves.
Here are the Catholic beliefs about Mary:
Mary, like all who are saved are saved by the blood of Christ. She is the greatest of saints and their prayers for us are effective. She is a fully human creature and not in any way a goddess.
She is the Immaculate Conception, which was full of grace from its first moments, she is the Ark of the New Covenant and the New Eve
Mary is "Theotokos" or "Mother of God," the Mother of God
Mary, without sin, and remained a virgin throughout her life
Mary was assumed into heaven by the power of God, where she was crowned Queen of Heaven

  20. By Faith says:

I, as a Christian do not hate Mary, the mother of Jesus. It's just that the Catholics have been obsessed with practice, the idolatrous worship of Mary from the fourth century. Devout Roman Catholics believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, a virgin, and remained sinless throughout his life. She is venerated in the Catholic Church as the "Mother of God" and the "Queen of Heaven." San Bernardo said he was crowned "Queen of Heaven" by God the Father, and currently sits on a throne in heaven interceding for Catholics.
The Bible teaches otherwise. In the Bible, Mary was a sinner like the rest of us. She herself said she needed a "Savior" (Luke 1:47), and even had to make a sacrifice for their sins in Luke 2:24. Jesus was only her "firstborn" son, Matthew 1:25, because later had other children as well (Matthew 13:55; Gal. 1:19; Ps. 69:8). There is one mediator between God and men, and it is not Mary (I Tim. 2:5). The last time we heard from Mary in the Bible that is praying with the disciples, not praying for the disciples (Acts 1:14).
Catholic Mary Worship is only pagan idolatry. Throughout the history of the pagans who worshiped female deities under different names, and many of them are in the Bible (Judges 10:6, I Sam. 7:3-4, 12:10; I Kings 11: 5, II Kings 23:13, etc.), including the "queen of heaven" (Jeremiah 44:16-25). Mary is not only a sinner saved by grace, God chose to use as a means of bringing his son into this world. The Bible never exalts him above all. Nor should we. If you are a Roman Catholic, maybe you should pay particular attention to Mary's only command in John 2:5.

  21. Mythos (In the dog house) says:

I do not, I just do not worship.
She is the one who died on the cross, Christ did.
She is not "co-redeemer" with Christ.
There is nothing in Scripture to support that illusion.
Mary has created a system of false worship.
And "Queen of Heaven" does not describe Mary, you might want to rethink that.

  22. Cheekote says:

because it is made to be the anti-Christ in a big way from the Catholics.
      "Ave Maria"

  23. W r y says:

Because Paul hated Mary. Do you have a problem with that?
      .

  24. an illegal alien says:

    Is it really you?
I wish I had been there when he told Joseph that was connected by the "holy spirit" and that's how she got pregnant … Yes, of course … try using that excuse now!

  25. Veiled One says:

Why are some Mary-worshipers get online and ask stupid questions wrong about Protestants who have no sense?
Really, number one, according to some of our eschatology, that passage does not speak of Mary (not call the Queen of Heaven) and before you say what you actually do, why speak of "her seed" and when everyone believes in the perpetual virginity? Secondly, we have no problem with Mary. We only have problems with unbiblical acts of idolatry that clearly spitting in the face of our God and Savior, and make fun of his power. The mother of Jesus has no place in our prayers, nor any saint named. 1 Timothy 2:5. Any prayers for them are pagan and useless. Please stop trying to tell us how wrong they are and you're right. Writing is on our side, not yours. Just because we do not believe that she has super powers does not mean we do not think it was a wonderful person. It simply means that Scripture really Revere. Now, go ask St. Jude to help you with your lost cause.
      Sheesh.
