Why people equate Praying Mary with "cult"?

In the Catholic understanding, prayer is a "request". When we pray for those who have gone to heaven before us, we are making a "request" them. And what is this request? It is to pray for the U.S.. Protestants do it all the time, but merely to make this request only people still on earth. In this sense, the Protestant view of the Church is very narrow. You see, Romans 8: 38-39 says, "neither death nor life … … neither the present nor the future .. .. nor height, nor depth, nor anything else .. .. can separate. The Family of God beyond death. We all live in Christ.
Importantly, praying to saints is not a requirement of Catholics, only one option: As a Protestant doesn't HAVE to ask a friend to pray for them, but may
Heb 12, 22-24, says that as we approach God, Jesus and the angels, also approach the spirits of just men made perfect. " In other words, the saints

Because they hate Catholics find any excuse for their bigotry and intolerance, and the Blessed Virgin is a very visible target. Never mind that there had been no Savior without her fiat, or who was the first disciple of Jesus in a very real sense. He put his words to heart and pondered all that he said, long before Peter and the others became his followers.
And I certainly would not want it known that she was the only woman at Pentecost in the Upper Room, now do you? Why, it might be too as saying he was honored and respected among the early Christians.
Face it: we will always be tarred with the faithful, "Mary" brush, no matter how many times he says otherwise. Some people have gotten into their heads that we are a group of idolaters Mary, not a word to say never penetrate the dense jungle of misconceptions that passes through their views on Catholicism.

All I know is that my aunt was in hospital a few years ago, and quite close to death (my cousin called us to let us know). He was 70 years old, had a kidney transplant and, severe cellulitis, and perhaps become septic. 2 of my cousins had some clothes from my aunt took him to the shrine of Padre Pio and put his clothes on the statue, said some prayers and took the clothes back.
She made a full recovery from that night. doctors do not call it a miracle or anything, but had no way to explain it.

Why would I pray to Mary or anyone else. Jesus said to pray to the Father in His name (Jesus Christ)

  4. St. Preachy says:

Sasi think is right. You do not go far enough with his quotation from the Scriptures. What he said may be true, but the verse you used does not support it. I think they are being completely frank about the Catholic practice, though, as there are many, many Catholics who rely almost entirely on the intercession of Mary and prayer directly to God. Not enough to say they are not practicing the teaching of the official Church because the Church, to my knowledge, does nothing to correct this.

  5. benjamin says:

I think one of the main reasons for the misunderstanding and confusion is not understanding, or perhaps believing in the "communion of saints", trust me, even some Catholics are to blame here.
Do not be too hard with our Protestant brothers and sisters, (and they are our brothers and sisters) who simply do not know or understand some concepts of the Catholic Church, have not been trained or taught.
I think if we (all Christian denominations) will focus on mutual love and worship of Christ that God unite us in a lot of problems of other faiths.
But you know man, it's more fun to make a copy of the bite and slander to be in harmony. must make God very sad.
We must pass all these "obsessions" and get "caught-up in the capture of us …. and even that is Christ.
if you really do and seeking purity of heart through it all the rest of this mess straighten free.

I understand that Catholics do not worship Mary or other Saints who pray as well. However, I also understand that others may see it as worship. I do not know much about other religions, but I've never heard of any other church or religion, praying to someone other than worship.

  9. BC says:

Are you so caught up in his own delusion that he forgot that you asked a question. "Why do people equate prayer to Mary in the" cult "?"
And the answer is that Catholics put Mary instead of Christ, asking the dead on behalf of the living, as they seek to replace all Christ. Mary is dead, asleep in Christ, she can not hear their "requests" or interfere in their concerns and problems. She wakes up when all the saints awake in the resurrection at the return of Jesus Christ.
Quoting Scripture as Romans 8: 38-39, you twist it the sense of what you want, and void the Word of God says that in many places, the saints are still asleep in their graves (Acts 2: 29, John 11:13, Job 14:7-15, Isaiah 38:18, Psalm 6:5, Psalm 115:17, Luke 8:52-55, Ecclesiastes 9:10, 1 Thessalonians 4:14,16, etc. ..). Romans 8: 38-39 says nothing about the dead who are awake and alive and able to intercede for anyone. Nor in any way imply that there is no death for the saints, for it is appointed for men to die once (Hebrews 9:27), without exclusion of the saints.
Throughout the Bible, not once is there any reference of a pious man calling on the dead, nor is there any suggestion to do forever. But rather, God rebukes those who think so (Isaiah 8:19).
Why do we think that worship Mary? Because they put on a pedestal above everyone else in a place that God has not appointed any man, but Christ. You give her praise for things he has done. You make a request that she can not keep.
      What is worship? "
      · wor ship (religion) n. 1. a. The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol or a sacred object. b. The ceremonies, prayers or other religious forms by which you express this love. 2. Ardent devotion, worship.
      - TheFreeDictionary (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/worship …
Is not this the way to act and feel towards Mary? It seems so. And so rightly says, of Catholics, that they do indeed worship Mary.
With respect to its spin of 1 Tim. 2:1-4, is asking others to pray with us, like asking a dead person to pray for us? Again, twist the Scriptures to their own desires and their own destruction (2 Peter 3:16). Paul wrote the intercession between the forces of darkness and the operation of God's purpose. He wrote to the saints to pray for "all men" who have not known God.
And again, twisting the scriptures of the Hebrews 12:22-24 to say what they want. It is, as Romans 8: 38-39, says nothing about the state of the saints, whether awake or asleep in death.
Read the scriptures for your car, and what he says, as theologians say it means deceiving. Obeying Christ Jesus, who taught that we must worship the one true God, not a man dressed in fine linens and a pompous hat.

  10. cristoig says:

    Sasi,
This does not change the meaning at all. His interpretation is changed by what you add to these verses by eisegesis understanding and making a false interpretation of another verse. Asking a saint to pray for us is not necromancy as this speaks of a pagan belief that the ancestors of others can give them knowledge of the future. We are not asking these things of the saints, but simply asked to pray that God grant us the grace to endure the ultimate salvation. The Bible says that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who are the saints, and also tells us that the prayers of the saints are presented before the throne of God.
There are many verses that point to the fact that when you die a physical death that come out of the eternal life abiding in more abundance as Christians. When speaking of necromancy physically dead, they are probably the demons, Christians instead of asking for prayers of those who have run the race and was successful because the Bible says that the prayers of the righteous are most beneficial. But like Jesus is the only Mediator, the Saints and their friends here on earth to pray for us with great benefits and, indeed, an example of sacrificial love to others to promote scripture. It is through this love we pray for others. If you follow their way of thinking about prayer that they would not pray for others or you can pray, because prayer is actually a mediator and that the Bible says it's the Christian spirit that makes us want to help others and allowing others to exercise their love of prayer for us.
Of course it is less severe because she does not judge like her Son, but simply wants a pure love of her Immaculate Heart. She prays for her son to give us the grace that is not hers, but her son.
If you've ever prayed for someone who has been a mediator as the Blessed Mother. If you've ever asked anyone to pray for you, you have asked to be a mediator for you. What practice non-Catholic Christians is no different!

      Cruz C,
In the context of what is the teaching that is correct. When we pray to the Blessed Virgin who are asking to pray the same as asking someone to pray. He was not trying to teach all the different nuances of speech, but he was talking about a specific situation and relating to a practice which, as a Protestant, can be identified. Is the feeding with milk before meat. Consider the audience that lacks the fullness of the truth that we Catholics. These attacks come across as arrogant and not very evangelical. our job is to help them reconcile with the Church does not dig in against him like trying to explain all aspects of Catholic theology. Did you learn everything at once? Of course not.

  11. :-) jos says:

The short answer to the question, is the misunderstanding that many Protestants have of what worship is, as the misinterpretation of thefreedictionary.com. The combination of 1.a. and 1.b. say prayers for that manifests the love and devotion to a deity. But you have to see what we mean by religious Jews, was primarily to offer sacrifice and worship God.
In response to those who say we should not pray for each other, or ask others also, here are some words of Paul.
Eph 6:18 <rezar go through the village of Dios.>, Rom 15:30 <join me in praying fervently to God for me. >, Colossians 4:3 <Al same tiempo, pray also for nosotros>, 2 Thess 1:11 <is why I always pray for ti>
Are not the prayers of those who stand before God, not better than ours here, because they see face to face. For the Scripture says he hears the prayer of the righteous, Proverbs 15:29, James 5:16. Who is fairer then those before him?

  13. Batel says:

Due to pray for someone or something is a form of worship.
If someone were to ask Catholics to pray for me as an agent of God, they would refuse, for various reasons and especially because I'm human.
In the NT, the disciples asked Jesus, teach us to pray Luke 11
Jesus taught us to pray directly to God. No where in the Bible says to pray to Mary. Jesus asked a question with a direct interest and gave a direct answer.
Why oh why do people keep adding to the Bible and then find a text to support it.

  14. Sasi says:

Why did your appointment short Rom 8:39? He'll say, ".. nor anything in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. "That changes the meaning of what it meant.
Saints in heaven are separated from the saints on earth - temporarily. God warns us not to try to communicate with the dead, so while we live glorified saints in heaven we follow Jesus' instructions on prayer: He said "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I I will "(John 14:14). They tell us that asking someone to then be directed to himself!
Furthermore, Jesus said, "But I, when I lifted up, will draw all men to myself". (John 12:32). No point us to Jesus through a middleman! I'm worried that the Catholic idea of Mary is milder and less severe than that of Christ is a fallacy that put unnecessary fear in people. Christ is our mediator - the only one! Go to him only for him personally intercede before the throne of grace in our name!

  15. Cruz C says:

Yes, I would make a comment.
Why did not you stop this nonsense? Do not think it was "called" to ask questions of the Protestants in a forum of this nature. I do not think it has any value. I do not think you have the necessary knowledge.
Any well-educated Protestant going to see the flaws in what you write.
You wrote: "In the Catholic understanding, prayer is a request".
Your above statement is simply incorrect.
The Catholic understanding of prayer is much more than that.
Do you perhaps remember that there are prayers of "worship", "thanksgiving", "prayer" and "propitiation"? Do you understand that "meditation" and "contemplation" are forms of prayer? Have you ever thought about the 7 Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary? Well, that's not a prayer of supplication, it is now?
Should begin by explaining about the Mystical Body of Christ (ie, the Church triumphant, the suffering church, the Church militant, to Mary as "Mediatrix of all graces, etc, etc.)
This simply is not the place to proselytize, or going on a fruitless "Crusaders". But I doubt that you will appreciate this, looking at his chosen nickname. :)

after Peter established his church of Christ said that "the abomination of desolation is set up on the wing of the church." For 2000 years Catholicism has fulfilled the prophecies about the work of the devil. have changed the days and schedules, which have dogged his chosen people, both during the Inquisition, and when allied with the Nazis during World War II and who have taught the worship of idols for centuries. All that the Catholic faith has to offer not worth having.
