Jesus has not sent any women apostles is the reason that the Roman Catholic Church. Apostolic means Apostles Catholic means universal, and the Roman Church: the official religion of Rome. Because Jesus did not send women, women are not priests. Anglican Church (Church of England) said that since Jesus did not prohibit the sending of women as apostles, women can be priest. The same argument used to justify both positions. Here are the facts. Ordination is a sacrament administered by the bishops. Only bishops can ordain priests and bishops. The first Anglican bishops were ordained by Catholic bishops, so any woman priest or bishop is ordained by an Anglican bishop is also a Catholic priest or a bishop. Is the Vatican does not accept his own wife, priests and bishops.

Women have never been, quote, "as good as men" throughout history. The Bible gives us that impression, because in reviewing the roles of men and women, the men always seemed to be more powerful. The Bible and many other books that have proven historical evidence seem to think the same thing, so I guess the church is just going by the Bible - which, I must add, is the only thing that can go seeing as no longer have a Mortal Messiah.

I'm Catholic, and once I had this question to the local priest. The reason he gave me, is that Jesus chose men as his apostles and priests as they are supposed to maintain the teaching of religion to the people and follow the footsteps of Jesus, who became only men since the apostles were men. It makes sense, really, and although I am a woman I agree with some people can understand it.however bad. They might think that the Church believes that women are somewhat less than men, but that's not the fact. Also we women, if we want more we can dedicate our lives to God, like being a nun. God bless you! X)

"Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over man, but to remain quiet. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. " 1 Timothy 2:11-13 If you profess to believe in the Bible and follow Christ, how can you ignore the book that the Almighty had written for their instruction? x x x

That is correct that the Church does not accept women as priests or bishops, I am a liberal Catholic and I agree with the Church and his reasons, my fellow Catholics have outlined the reasons why the Church does not allow it!.

Christ chose men to be His apostles. That is why. However, the fact that women can not become priests does not mean you can not devote his life to God and his Church. They can do as nuns.

Pre reform Historic Churches (Catholic, and various canonical E and Assyrian Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox) all follow the example of the Apostolic Church and not ordain women to the priesthood or episcopate

There are several passages in the Bible where it is clear that women are supposed to be active in the top ranks of the Church. Certainly the fact that Jesus chose only male disciples is one of the strongest reasons. There is also a section of the Bible (I wish I could give you chapter and verse so you could see) that basically says that a woman entering a house of worship is to be silent all the time is there - indeed, if adhering to this rule will not do anything good for a woman to become a priest, if she is not authorized to speak once they enter the building. The Bible is full of misogynistic passages (such as allowing a husband who discovers his bride is not virgin stone to death on the steps of the house of his father). In general, the Bible was written over several centuries, when women were little more than slaves and property, and was written, translated, edited, re-translated, reprinted several times through the centuries by men who were not especially enlightened in terms of equal rights or equal treatment.
