I have little doubt in my mind that the ravages of children is much more widespread and devastating that the church let anyone know. If I knew I could lose more money and power, and we can not have that can we? So lie! Hey wait is not lying a sin too? Hmmm
The Catholic Church is so quick to condemn others but slow to accept any responsibility for their own faults. Business as usual at the Vatican! They call the U.S., Bastian of sin and yet they themselves have been the primary focus of thousands of years of sin and that's good! If you have the power that it is okay to hurt children.
They will answer to God for their sins against humanity and potatoes will be the first to receive their desperate fate!

I think that has happened in other countries. Everything that happens here gets more media attention and then when others hear about the possibility of lawsuit, you get all kinds of people coming out of the wood, with their stories of what happened 2, 3 or 4 decades ago. I think many of these things happened, but I think that each of these people are telling the truth. That's between them and God. I think many of the claims never happened and some people just took advantage of the crisis, because they wanted easy money. Those who did pass must have had a lot of pain, betrayal and mistrust to treat, especially when a trusted adult, under the pretext of the Church, are violated in this way. I am a Roman Catholic, and went to Catholic parochial schools grade 1 to Grade 12. I never had anything like that happen, nor any of my former classmates. It's too bad it happened at all, and if anybody knew about it, that did not end this situation immediately, rather than allowed to continue. It is also unfortunate that allowed fans and false judgments are so many out there that was just made up, together with all legitimate. The worst thing is that there are men who entered the priesthood, not the true vocation of serving God, but because I thought it was an easy way for them to bother the children.

Yes, there are clergy sex scandals elsewhere, but why does he deal with those scandals, when there is much to recognize the right in the U.S.? The Pope was here, making most if not all, of what he had to say of interest to American Catholics.

Case is actually AA, "best" information, or only partially (anti-Catholic) reference? News again, most news we get is locally and nationally. If you want to know what is happening locally in other countries, you have to check their news, and I hope that is not as biased as the American media.

This happened in many countries, and probably still is occurring in some.
A priest who was released from prison 3 months ago (convicted of assaulting 40 children) was found singing in a children's choir of the church.
Perhaps the Pope's speech relates only to the U.S. scandal because it was in the U.S.. If you come to Australia that probably only refer to the scandal and cover-up here.
Perhaps the Pope was trying to partition the scandal and cover up for the country, not all countries together, as this may seem to "reduce" the impact in the eyes of the Church or the world?
For me, no matter who was / is better to report these crimes against children. We can be thankful that the media worldwide has highlighted this gross injustice that should never have allowed to happen and continue.

There is no certainty one way or another about what happened in other countries. The priests are authority figures in an even stronger here.
The local culture in other countries may be more control over children and the priests, offering fewer opportunities. No doubt there have been cases like that of Rwanda in which some members of the clergy was involved in crimes against humanity
One of the difficulties of recent decades has been the shortage of priests and fewer have been available for viewing on a sense of vigilance.

Yes they did. I live in Britain and has happened here and in Ireland. It was in the news and publicly known. I think it probably depends on the nature of government, media and religion in the country, so that may have occurred all over the place, but was not made public.

Free, free press, makes it more difficult to cover.
The sad thing is if they had not tried to conceal it by protecting guilty priests would never be in this mess. Honesty is the best policy, someone should tell them that.

This country is terribly corrupt. Our media allows anyone to watch porn at any time on billboards, TV ads, when carrying their children to get some chicken wings is horrible. I hate the horrible place that America has become.

our media did nothing more than the explosion of the same in all media. I know of one case in England, however, only the U.S. are the victims of rape in the media as well. in other countries - who have respect for the victims.
