Catholic Church and Islam?

What is the latest indication of the actual position of the Vatican towards Islam (which I am seeking a declaration)? More specifically, I need a quote from a Catholic source said Allah, the God of Christianity and Islam are the same thing.

    The Catechism of the Catholic Church, "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, first, among whom are the Muslims: these profess the faith of Abraham, and together with us who adore the one, Merciful God, judge of mankind in the last day. "
      "It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present the two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialogue, never more as communities in conflict."
      - Pope John Paul II, the meeting with Muslim leaders in the Great Umayyad Mosque, Damascus, 6 May 2001. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_p
      Christians and Muslims, following their respective religions, point to the truth of the sanctity and dignity of the person. This is the basis of our mutual respect and esteem, this is the basis for cooperation in the service of peace among nations and peoples, the dearest wish of all believers and all people of goodwill.
      As an example of the fraternal respect with which Christians and Muslims can work together, let me quote some words addressed by Pope Gregory VII in 1076 to a Muslim prince in North Africa who had acted with great benevolence towards the Christians under his jurisdiction. Pope Gregory spoke of the particular charity that Christians and Muslims owe each other "because we believe in one God, albeit in a different way, and because praise and worship him every day as the Creator and Lord of the world. "

      With love in Christ.

    Good Luck. They are not the same. Both say there is one God. But the Christian God is a God of love and mercy.
      The first type is wrong. Time has past / present / future all at once. The concept of the eternal NOW. All this comes at a time. This is a very complex idea, like the idea of the Trinity.

    they are not if you find one that is as lost as Catholics are Muslims.

  4. Sayid Abu Khamr al-MaseeHee says:

    I've never seen any official Catholic document saying that the Christian God and the deity they profess Muslims are the same. However, I have seen the papal encyclicals (in particular, "John Paul II, Redemptor Hominis", paragraph 29) that "expressed his esteem for the believers of Islam, whose faith is also to Abraham." That's probably the closest one is going to get, as the Catholic Church is very conscious of the fact that the God of Christianity has a triune or three-person ontology, while the deity espoused by Muslims has a monadic ontology.
      On a side note, I would say the answer is wrong Kedar Azaan on the water. The water analogy works pretty well, as you can have a whole body substance that is H2O (in the sense of preaching) and the parties are different in different states (as he has been part of a body to freeze the water, or part of a body of water evaporates?).
      For what it's worth, I am a former Muslim who intends to convert to Catholicism.

    what they think is important …
      only human
      what you think is most important …
      This is a package between you and God …

      - The position of the Pope concerning Islam is unequivocally that expressed by the conciliar document Nostra Aetate: "The Church regards with esteem also the Muslims. They adore the one God living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, who has spoken to men, but take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even his inscrutable decrees, like Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God.
      Cheers :-)

  7. Nizami says:

    In the Middle East all Jews, Christians and Muslims call their God as God.
      However, there are some differences. Allah in Christian also known as "the Father" and presents Jesus as his Son. Together with the Holy Spirit, become a god.
      In Islam, God is one God. Allah has no son and no less ally. Allah is the Almighty.
      Say: He is Allah, the One;
      God, the Eternal;
      He has not begotten, nor is He begotten;
      And no one like him. "
      [Qur'an 112:1-4]

  8. keiichi says:

    Jehovah had fathered a son called Jesus.
      Act 13:33, 1JO 5:1, Ps 2:7 I will declare the decree: Jehovah said, Thou [art] my son, I have begotten you.
      Allah was the Supreme God of 99 other gods at a shrine of the moon. Allah had three daughters and no sons. One daughter is still revered today as a stone in the shrine.

  10. Danny H C.A.B. says:

    I'm sure there are plenty of sources on the Internet and find you, but Christians and Muslims worship the same God, but Muslims reject Christ as the Savior of the world and regard this only as a prophet, a failure.
      God bless.

  11. hnka07 says:

    Allah Islamic perspective is the same God as Christians belive in God = Allah is not Jesus or Holy Spirit. I want to correct the first answer, Islam does not teach what you wrote. The main concept of Islam is "La ilaha Illal Laho Muhammad ur Rasul Allah" in Arabic (no God but Allah, Mohammad is His SAW (Allah) Rasool). Peace to you all

  12. kedars says:

    Islam says that the Trinity is polytheism.
      Polytheism = The concept that God can be three separate entities in one and the same time.
      1) Jesus praying to God
      Holy Spirit 2) in the form of a dove
      3) Above God
      Water can not be liquid, solid and gas at one and the same time.
      Time can not be past, present and future in one and the same time.
      What other explanations are out … …. can not exist in three forms in one and the same way unless it is a polytheistic god.
      Polytheistic gods, three gods in one spirit.

  13. Sarcasma says:

    I am not Catholic, but I can say that the Christian God, the God of the Muslims and the God of the Jews are all one in the same.
      Jewish people did it first.
      Muslims believe that they are the descendants of Ishmael, Abraham's first son (who was Jewish).
      Jesus was a Jew and his followers believe he is the son of God of the Jews.
