I am one of the two halves of America,
Of pupusas, beans, fresh milk, and Inca Cola
Egg cream, corn beef and cabbage.
Benny and I'm from the Bronx Zoo,
El Boqueron and the Tazumal.
I am poufy dresses and tons of bows.
I'm from Protestants and Catholics.
The Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.
I am of the cumbia and Elvis Presley.
I'm Barney, Scooby Doo,
The comfortable sofa and Teletubbies.
And Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff.
I am a mother of arts, cheerleading, and tennis.
And the grandparents of several to one.
I'm brown eyes, dark hair, and myopia,
Birthmarks of the armpits and double birthday.
I'm from the mailbox explosion close to the explosion of cars.
And I'm Grandma's angel on the tree every year.
I am of the separation and divorce,
From the hard times and "we'll be fine."
I'm from 'Karma will catch up with you "
From 'Do not get mad, Get Even',
And from "Everything happens for a reason!
Please help me think of a name for her …
