Jesus had brothers and sisters. But after Jesus was born of Mary was free to have sex with her husband. This makes it still a virgin when Jesus was born. Jesus is the oldest, and the first born. Really do not know the Catholic version. This I understand in the KJV.

Since Joseph was a bit older than Mary, it is considered that these were his children from a previous marriage? Jesus often refers to people as "my brothers". "Those who believe in me are my brothers and sisters and mothers" (sorry, can not pull the book chapter and verse from the top of my head) Mary is a virgin before, during and after the birth of Jesus.

The Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church established a commission to study to Mary in the New Testament. The shock was that there was very little disagreement between them. Theologians share almost the same views. On the question of the brothers and sisters of Jesus, the conclusion was that the commission can not be resolved from Scripture alone. The problem exists with the word of brothers and sisters. The same word is used for step-siblings and cousins. Moreover, some passages are meaningless if they were literal brothers and sisters. This is "Mary in the New Testament", is edited by Raymond Brown. Further, it is not canonical witnesses who testify to Mary as ever virgin. This is not as strange as it would sound to a modern listener was not considered strange in the early church. It is quite important to remember that Pope Damasus or Pope Innocent issued a canon, one could say the words: "It's in the Bible." If they did, they referred to the Septuagint. The Catholic Church is 370 years older than the Bible. It produced the Bible and decided that the books are in it. To accept the Bible is to accept the authority of the Pope. As the Commission concluded, Scripture says nothing about Mary's virginity after the birth of Jesus, but the early Christians were not. Mary regarded differently from the Christians of today can not see this in the older liturgy. It was not an abstract person in a story, lived with them. The commission's findings was that Maria should pose no obstacle to meeting the Catholic and Lutheran. And, of course, the Evangelical Lutheran Church is seeking formal meeting at this time. It would be a wonderful thing to see the end of the protest. As a Lutheran pastor I know said, saying the Catholic Church ended 93 1 / 2 of 95 theses of Luther and Luther would have gladly given the other 1 1 / 2. Why are we not split, other people with pride as his own ideas of what Christianity should be?

which is not only the Douay version of this. also of other Bibles.to my memory, there is no phrase "eternal virgin" in the Bible. I think it'sa misinterprtation of "Virgin Mary". Please read Luke! :27-45.

They also put Mary at the height of Jesus, which is also wrong. I have spoken with members of my family about this very thing, and I just can not seem to get it. If it were a different person than his brothers and sisters that have been said. I think it is a spiritual strength that the enemy has on them, as the spiritual blindness that prevents them from seeing the truth. So sad, the bottom line, ask for God's word a lie. I was told to talk to a priest about different things, but you know what a priest is just a man with the Bible itself (kind of) I have if I You can not study the Word and discover the truth for myself, and trust the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to me, then I can also hang on this time. Mat 1:25-and (Joseph) did not know her till she brought forth her firstborn son and named him Jesus. If Joseph did not know until after the birth of Jesus, which led to Bethlehem? Is not it crazy, anyone can see that this verse speaks of Joseph and Mary with a normal husband and wife relationship. In addition, says the oldest, if Jesus was the only child she gave birth, there would be no reason to write firstborn.

It is true that the Virgin Mary was a virgin when she had to bear Jesus. But that's the end of that. Marry a wife Mary and a Cople be Mary and never get Freak On is not nomal. If you read the Bible, you see that seems to collect what is and is not in him. Like why do you think that the Bible spoke of Jesus in his teenage years? Partly becuse he was out with her sisters and Bor.

From the first formulations of faith, the Church has confessed that Jesus was conceived solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary, affirming also the corporeal aspect of this event: Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, seeded human ". The Gospel accounts understand the virginal conception of Jesus as a divine work that surpasses all human understanding and possibility: "That which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit," says the angel to Joseph about Mary, his betrothed. The Church sees here the fulfillment of the divine promise given by the prophet Isaiah: "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son." Against this doctrine the objection is sometimes raised that the Bible mentions brothers and sisters of Jesus. The Church has always understood these passages as not referring to other children of the Virgin Mary. In fact James and Joseph, "brothers of Jesus are the sons of another Mary, a disciple of Christ, whom St. Matthew significantly calls" the other Mary ". 13:55, 28:1, Mt 27:56. They are close relations of Jesus, according to an Old Testament expression. No other gospel calls Jesus a carpenter. Son of Mary ": contrary to Jewish custom, a man who calls his father's son, this expression reflects the faith of St. Mark, that God is the Father of Jesus (Mark 1:1, 11; 8:38 , 13: 32; 14:36). "The brother of James ... Simon "in the Semitic use of the terms" brother, "sister" applies not only to the children of the same parents, but to nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers and half sisters, Gen 14: 16, 29:15, Lev 10:4. Although one can not assume that the Greek word meaning to be sought first Semitic usage, the Septuagint often translates the Hebrew ah adelphos by the Greek word "brother" as in the cited passages, a fact who can argue a similar breadth of meaning in some passages of the New Testament. For example, there is no doubt that in Mark 6:17, "brother" is used of Philip, who was actually the half brother of Herod Antipas. Moreover, San Marcos could have understood the terms literally see also Mark 3:31-32, Matthew 12:46, 13:55-56; Lk 8:19; John 7:3,5. Mary is a virgin because virginity is the sign of her faith "unadulterated by any doubt", and his total dedication to God's will. It is faith that allows you to become the mother of the Savior: "Mary is more blessed because she embraces faith in Christ that she conceives the flesh of Christ."
