So what do you think the Catholic priest who left the church so he could marry?

Father Alberto Cutie of Miami, was seen with a woman on the beach and the Catholic Church had a stroke. left the Catholic Church and was a bishop so he could marry the woman he loves. I was raised Catholic and for my part, I think this is the right idea REV. this little sacrifice of manhood (so to speak) when you become a priest was formed by our revered leaders. certainly not the law of God. Is not the guy who said, "Be fruitful and multiply"?
when is the Vatican going to get on the stick and change this ridiculous law? forever? maybe if they did, we would have less pedophiles in the church. I know, an old argument, but I had to vent.

I think he was being honest with himself and the Church.
If you can not comply with the restrictions of the Catholic priesthood should not be a Catholic priest, regardless of their position on whether the church should or should not allow the clergy to marry.

  2. Shar B says:

The Catholic Church teaching on celibacy is not a teaching of the Bible. 1 Timothy 4:3 says :…" say it's okay to be married. The Apostle Peter, who is considered the first pope of the Catholic Church, was a married man. The Catholic priesthood is composed of many older men with very few entering the priesthood to take its place. Many probably do what this young priest did, and switch.

I think it should have become an Eastern Catholic priest in his place. But celibacy should remain in the Latin rite.
I Corinthians 7:7-8, "I wish all were as I myself (celibate) - but each has his own gift from God, one this way, and another after that. But I say to the unmarried and the widows. It's good for them if they continue, even as I. "

  4. Kym says:

A true vocation to the priesthood is a gift and a calling from God and when someone called to the priesthood of God to provide the priest with the graces necessary to live their vocation. I would say the possibility that this was not to call this man.

  5. cristoig says:

Jesus and Paul teaches the provision of celibacy for clergy. Of course, from the married clergy in the Protestant Church are many times more likely to be married priests pedophiles, pedophilia is expected to increase one follows his logic. God bless!

I am glad that pedophilia does not seem to have always heard.
      Good luck to him.
This particular church rule is ridiculous, problematic, self-destructive and without a good reason.

  7. River of Life says:

I'm happy for him and only those who are called to be celibate, you must do

  8. Devils's Advocate says:

    More power to him.

    I would say something.

  10. Stanbo says:

Catholic priests do not marry because, while Christ indeed approve of marriage for the Christian clergy, both prefer not to marry. He made this clear when he praised the Apostles to stop “ todos''a continue, saying: “ Everyone who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother, or wife, or children , or lands for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.''(Matthew 19:27-29). Furthermore, Jesus explains why some do not marry, saying that "some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of kingsom of heaven." The apostle Paul explained why the unmarried state is preferable to been married for Christian clergy: “ He who is without a wife, takes care of the things that belong to the Lord, how to please God. But the one with a woman, cares for worldly things, how to please his wife, is divided.''(1 Cor. 7:32-33). In other words, marriage is good - that Christ did on one of the sacraments of his church - but it is not conducive to the full time that corresponds to those who submit to another of the holy sacraments of Christ - that of Holy Orders. Still, the single state of the Catholic priesthood is not an inflexible law - under certain conditions, a priest can be without this law.
      God bless,

Celibacy has nothing to do with pedophilia, when are people going to get this launched their heads. Do you argue that homosexuals should not be allowed to adopt children, because they are most likely to sexually abuse them? No, no, because homosexuality and pedophilia are two completely different things. According to the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) pedophilia is a mental disorder. It has nothing to do with abstaining from sex. No more than abstaining from sex causes schizophrenia. If you look at the statistics, sexual abuse is happening in the Catholic Church is no different from what is happening in our public schools.
