Why can not Catholic priest Get Married, If God created man to be with women?

Scripture repeatedly witnessed the great value of a celibate life:
[His] disciples said, "If that is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry." He replied: "Not all can accept [this] word, but only those that are granted. Some are unable to marry because they were born so, some because they were made so by others, some because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Who can accept this should accept it. " Mt 19:10-12.
"So, he who marries does well, that house will not be better." 1 Corinthians 7:38.
Jesus mainfested this in your own life. It is this fact that the Catholic Church bases its mandate of priestly celibacy as the Catechism clearly states:
"All the ordained ministers of the Latin Church, with the exception of permanent deacons, are normally chosen from among men of faith who live a celibate life and who intend to remain celibate" for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. "Called to consecrate themselves with undivided heart to the Lord and" things of the Lord "they give themselves entirely to God and men. Celibacy is a sign of this new life in the service of which the minister of the Church is consecrated accepted with a joyous heart celibacy radiant proclaims the Kingdom of God. "CCC # 1579.

If you study the history of the Catholic church (or find similar questions already answered here) is that some of the main reasons for the church began to require celibacy were financial. The church does not want to worry about their wives or children of priests inheriting property, so did the requirement that priests be celibate. They also wanted to retain power to appoint priests and bishops, and I want to deal with family succession the offices of the church.

  2. MacDeac says:

Your question is false. There are a number of cases in which a Catholic priest can be married.
If he was an ordained minister in another denomination Before becoming Catholic and is married, you can stay married and a priest.
If he is in the Eastern Orthodox Church can be married.
The Catholic currently do not allow a man who is born and raised Catholic, married if he is to become a priest.
It all started some time ago (a few hundred years) when the Church was very powerful and controlled a lot of land. When the priest was married and had children, then died, his property (and it was argued that the land was in his control was his), was divided among his heirs. The Church felt it was losing a lot of land and other property. So he said the priest will not marry - thus ending the problem.
Also think about life living a priest. He is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Notwithstanding what was called at all hours of the day, constant interruptions and must go where the bishop tells him to go.
This is not really a quality of life that many would choose for themselves, much less submit to a woman and her children. The uprooting of children from their schools and friends, breaking all ties with the community at the drop of a hat.
I think it's a good thing. In fact, it allows the priest to be there for the community it serves.

It is part of religious legalism to say that a priest can not marry. Not being married does not make you holier than the average person.

some impotent cardinals that the law of jealousy

  5. Atomin says:

because the priests are delivered entirely in the service of others …. as Christ did. Christ was married to the church, and have no time or need for a wife. So the priests to follow Jesus.
(this is the answer short and simple)

  6. justin72 says:

His puzzled me. Marriage is supposed to be a ritual consecrated by God and witnesses. God created Eve from Adam's rib to give Adams a partner and yet the Catholic church, which preached that doesn't allow a priest to marry. I think thats really rude! (I'm Catholic)
Perhaps if priests could marry and have children would find it easier to relate to their churches and supporters of family problems.

  7. >>>LADY< says:

Yes, God created man to be with the woman. However, Catholics believe that his father was called to be a priest, and must dedicate and devote his life to the church. If priests were married, they have other priorities other than the Church and the holiness of the people. If you think about it, the logic that makes sense.

  8. littlere says:

Priests take a vowe to celebecy and poverty .. Therefore, it can not be married ..

    There is no logical reason.
The Catholic branch of the early church was really very, very impressed with Paul, because he talked a lot about the structure, politics, and the offices of the church. He was not necessarily referring to the Christian church, but they took these things as the requirements.
Paul also had much to say about the honor to remain celibate and concentrating all of their love and attention toward God. Why was so impressed by this idea? Probably because, not since a guy was apparently very unattractive, it was likely that someone will hook itself. Still, Catholics increased by this idea and approved it - why do not want their leader to spend all their energy in God? That would make him more holy than the common people!

  10. personal says:

because a priest must be an image of Christ and Christ married wasn't. some priests may marry, however.

  11. Cara says:

if you really get a good answer to this big problem you can forward to me?

  12. CALIMAN says:

Because the Catholic church would not pay to have families. The church has witnessed moments corrupt and married priests took the wealth out of the church. Now they say that is because the priest is married to the church, like the church was said to be the bride of Christ.

  13. Chelli says:

Practical Answer: there will come a time when a priest to choose between his flock and his family - so, without marrying him never have to make that choice.
All other answers are good too.
God created man to be with women, but we are all longing for a union far greater than the union between man and woman - an eternal union with God. If you think in those terms, so a union between a man and a woman is not the ultimate goal of life.
