Why Catholics pray the rosary, confess their sins to priests and pray to saints?

I am a Protestant Christian. I want to know why Catholics pray the rosary. Why are there ten "Hail Mary" prayers and only one "Our Father" by decade? Why Mary, the mother of Jesus is sinless when she gave birth to Jesus? Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest when you can go directly to God? Why Catholics pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus and the saints? Pope is still seen as infallible?
Please help me to understand Catholicism!

Usted es mucho pedir para una pregunta, pero aquí va:
We pray the Rosary, it is one of the best ways to meditate on the events in the life of Jesus and his mother Mary. The Rosary is divided into four groups, called the Mysteries. They are: the joyful mysteries (events surrounding the birth and early years of Jesus), the Luminous Mysteries (the ministry), the Sorrowful Mysteries (the passion and death), and the Glorious Mysteries (the Resurrection and the first days of the Church.)
Each Mystery is divided into specific events, such as the Nativity and the Crucifixion. When we pray each decade (group of ten Hail Marys, a Glory Be, and the Our Father), we think about how we can apply this case to our own lives.
Mary is without sin, because it was preserved by God from the original sin and the stain of any crime. This only makes sense. . . Why God sent His Son pure and holy in the belly of a polluted creature sin? Her virginity was miraculously preserved during the birth of Christ, and she is both Virgin and Mother.
Catholics confess our sins to priests, because they have been given spiritual authority by Jesus to forgive or retain sins. Confession is a sacrament very powerful in overcoming our sinful nature and the constant temptation to do evil. That prepares us for heaven and helps us to want what God wants for us.
We ask Mary and the saints for their prayers because every believer is aware of the very words of God (Jesus). We ask you to intercede for us, as you can ask a friend at church or a family member to pray for you.
The * only * Pope is infallible when speaking ex cathedra, ie for the whole Church. Those times are rare, and always deal with matters of faith, doctrine and morals affecting the whole Church.
I know this is a lot of information to make, and if you have any questions, please edit your post and I'll try to help. What I want to go out with you, however, is the guarantee that Catholics are Christians far as it is, and love of the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit with all our heart.
      Edit:
People who are saying that the Catholic rituals and beliefs are not scriptural, do not know what they are talking. Catholic doctrine is forumulated by three things: the Bible, the teachings of the Magisterium (the Church scholars), and Sacred Tradition. Each of the three must agree with the other two and can not contradict in any way.
Our beliefs and practices must have a solid Biblical basis, or they would not be approved by the Church.

    >> Why is Mary the mother of Jesus is sinless when she gave birth to Jesus? <<
Huh? Giving birth is a sin in Protestantism?
      >> Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest when you can go directly to God? <<
Because that's how Jesus set it up:
"Jesus said again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you ". And having said this he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins they are forgiven, if you retain the sins, they are retained ". "(John 20:21-23)
      >> Why do Catholics pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus and the saints? <<
Do you know of a better way to ask them to pray for us? (Example: "pray" means to ask, request, beg.'re Praying for us right now with these questions.)

  3. Wolfebla… says:

    Confession is in the Bible.
Jn 20:23 - whose sins you forgive / retain are forgiven / retained
JM 5:16 - confess your sins to one another
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 - gave us the ministry of reconciliation

I know you have the answer more than anyone could answer. If the traditional belief is wipper all religions would be drawn. As is well whatever. After all, divinity is not a sin.

  6. Buzzzbe says:

I want to know why Catholics pray the rosary.
      Answer: The tradition.
Why are there ten "Hail Mary" prayers and only one "Our Father" by decade?
Answer: The "Hail Mary" prayer is at least 80% Scripture, to the right of the Gospel of Luke, recalling the words of the angel Gabriel, who spoke the words of God, that Mary accepted, so the world could receive salvation. The other 20% confirms the truth of the first 80%. There is nothing wrong with that at all.
Why Mary, the mother of Jesus is sinless when she gave birth to Jesus?
Answer: If Mary was sinless, that human flesh of Jesus had been conceived in sin. If that were the case, Jesus would have been totally inadequate to be the Messiah, Satan could have his way with him, and their mission had been a failure even before it began. God does not work that way.
Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest when you can go directly to God?
Answer: The first thing I did was the risen Christ to the Apostles the Holy Spirit together with the power to forgive sins in Jesus' name. That should tell you how important forgiveness of sins was God. Moreover, in the absence of the sacrament of reconciliation, no one can really know if God forgave their sins or not, until the day of the trial. And by then it may be too late. Catholics have a much better deal.
Why Catholics pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus and the saints?
Answer: The concept of "Kinsman Redeemer" is well established in Scripture, rescue of Abraham, Lot, Boaz "with his wife Ruth, and many other cases where a blood relative has the powerful and just relaltives right to redeem the blood of slavery and slavery.
Since we are all related through Adam, and like everyone in heaven receive (among other things) the power and authority of God, and God is on record that he wants everyone to be saved, there is no doubt that Mary and the Saints have the right to intercede with Jesus for those of us who need it, just as Jesus is still the only mediator between God and man.
How do you know that they (the saints) are aware of their prayers, and in fact talk to God on their behalf?
Answer: The evidence of miracles is required before the Church declare anyone a saint.
Pope is still seen as infallible?
      Answer:
The Bible writers wrote infallibly. The prophets spoke infallibly. Even the corrupt high priest prophesied Caiphus infallibly according to his office, when he condemned the innocent Christ.
By virtue of their holy office, according to his authority as senior pastor of the Church, officially speaking on matters of faith and morals, and when he declares that it intends, the Pope can speak infallibly really.
Throughout the 2000 year history of the Catholic Church, this has happened twice.

The illness of a response to numerous questions. Praying the rosary is the prayer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
      (Matthew 28:19, cf. John 14:13-14, Acts 2:21)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord. It was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and eternal life.
      Lev 5:5, Nehemiah 1:5-9, Dan 9:3-19, James 5:16)
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
      (Matthew 6:9-13, cf. Luke 11:2-4, Mark 14:36, Galatians 4:6)
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and always will be, without end. (Luke 2:14, cf. Rev 4:11; 5:11-14)
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Deliver us from hellfire. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.

  8. DougLawr says:

Of course Mary was human. We Catholics know. I can not understand why we always Protestants believe that Mary is divine.
We do not ask Mary to give us things. Please pray for us as we ask other people. The same with the saints. Do not believe me? Look at the litany of saints. A Catholic prayer loved.
We believe in your intercession. It's that simple. Not exactly need proof. Although, over the centuries, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints has studied the miracles that occur through the intercession of the saints. They use scientific means to ensure that everything did not happen "naturally."
How can you be born of Mary without sin? Almighty God is not it? You think not? If he can create a universe, why would it be impossible for him to give someone the gift of being without sin? If you were God - would like to live a sinful person for 9 months?
There are a lot of biblical references. Many early announcements here have given you. So I do not really need to repeat. While Protestants are constantly saying they are not biblical, they probably are. Sure, sure, a few outside dogma has been proclaimed the Bible. But even the dogma of papal infallibility is taken out of context. This does not mean we believe that the Pope is never wrong. Jesus said to Peter, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. That is what papal infallibility. And if I remember correctly, has only been invoked three times.
PS: The recitation of the Rosary is only one way to "pray without ceasing." Since the dawn of the Church have tried. The Bible contains 150 (or 151 depending on your translation) psalms. The early Christians are lining their pockets with pebbles. Not knowing the psalms that would only try to pray for the mercy of God 150 times. As the church grew, and monasticism was born, the monks reciting the "Psalter" which is another word for the Book of Psalms. Back in the day, poor people could not read. And those who could often could not afford a book. The rosary is also called the Psalter "poor man". 150 sentences. Like the Psalms. 5 times 10 sentences read three forms, covering the Bible. From the Annunciation to the Resurrection.

    Susan,
His views on Christianity was very poor to say the least. You say: "I think Catholics are still Christians." Well, of course!
If you take the time to really study the history of Christianity, instead of listening to the heretical preachers you know that there is only one form of Christianity installed by our Lord … and that is Catholicism. Catholicism is Christianity. Protestantism is but a sad imitation of true religion (not really, most Protestant denominations today do not even resemble the true Christianity in the least).
Ask yourself: Do you think God's plan is to have 30,000 different Protestant denominations that are different and argue among themselves, sending the other to hell for their beliefs?
Do you think ancient worship services was a worship Penocostal or mass slaughter? If you take the time to study, then the truth shall make you free. Trust me, I know … I was once a Baptist.
A very smart man once said: "To study the roots of Christianity is to become Catholic."
Issue: Susan, if your point of view of Protestant Christianity in any way and do not agree 100% with Catholic doctrine, then they are defective.

  10. Max Marie, OSF says:

I'll try to answer your questions.
First, you wonder why Mary is supposed to be without sin, when she gave birth to Jesus. Why give birth to their sin? It makes sense that God wants Jesus was born of a vessel without sin, and thus we believe that Mary is sinless. We also believe that is what the angel meant when he called her "full of grace." And nowhere in the Bible says that sin, so either way is just a matter of opinion.
Anyway, we Catholics believe that, ask the saints to pray for us, we are increasingly prayers. The same as asking your neighbor or pastor to pray for you. It can not hurt. So when and pay the rosary, we are sincerely asking Mary to pray for us as you can. It can not hurt, be sure to help. Many times in the Bible, encouraged to ask other disciples to pray for you, so we ask the saints.
Furthermore, why confess our sins to a priest is to "keep us honest." NOBODY can tell God "I'm sorry. But it's easy to say and not mean it. But when you must confess your sins to God through another human being, requires a lot harder, and really should be totally sorry for your sin to tell a stranger. In other words, it is harder to fake sadness when someone else knows about their sins, except you and God.

  11. Nic B says:

Do not know. Christian living in Utah and while there are plenty of LDS, there are a lot of Catholics as well (I am a Protestant - Pentecostal).
I know many of the rituals and things they do are against the Bible and what God wants us to do.
I prefer to pray to God and not some saint who was just a simple old man at one point.
For the person who asked if giving birth is a sin in Protestantism — that's not what the original poster said. Catholics believe that Mary was sinless throughout his life.

  12. Kevin A.R.T. says:

I really do not understand you .. I only know that it is human tradition of passing generations … Catholicism is really in the tradition .. and not solely rely on the Bible .. sigh a lot of it is made by man: /
and the pope is not at all infalliable! only God Himself is
We should pray for our Catholic friends
