  1. Jack says:

There are three branches of Christianity:
      1 Catholic
      2 Protestant (includes 1000 of sub-denominations)
      3 Orthodox
If you are a Christian, you are one of those. People who think otherwise deceive themselves (and probably are Protestants).
Every Christian church is a branch of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were separated and settled during the Protestant revolt, which began in 1517. (Hence the name "Protestant", "protest." Most of today's Protestant churches are actually branches of the original Protestant branches.)
Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the V century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back in unbroken succession, to Peter. This is unmatched by any other institution in history: Even the oldest of government is new compared to the papacy. The Catholic Church has existed for almost 2,000 years, despite the continued opposition of the world. This is testimony to the divine origin of the Church: Any merely human organization would have collapsed long ago. The Catholic Church is today the most vigorous church in the world (and the largest, with millions of members: one sixth of the human race) and that is testimony not to the intelligence of the leaders of the Church, but to the protection of the Holy Spirit.

For Wizzle you say that we added Writings [which is false], what about adding books Protestants [true]?? This means that there are Christian or not???

  3. Sentinel says:

The Catholic Christian answers this question in three stages or levels for the three meanings of the words "except" and "salvation" is in the Bible. (These meanings are found in the previous section, "Salvation: A Biblical Portrait.")
Non-Catholic Christians can respond that they have been saved. This acknowledges that the first meaning of "keep" and "salvation" in scripture - Jesus Christ, Savior, for whose act of salvation that we stand objectively - he died, was resurrected from the dead, saved from sin.
      2 Corinthians 5:17
So whoever is in Christ is a new creation
Non-Catholic Christians can respond also being saved. This acknowledges that the second meaning "saved" and "salvation" is in Scripture - the present experience, the power of God constantly delivering the bondage of sin.
      1 Corinthians 15:2
Through him (the gospel) which also are being saved, if you cling to the word I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
They also respond Catholic Christians will be saved, they hope and trust that God will give them the grace of perseverance, which will respond to it, and accept His gift of salvation to his death. This acknowledges that the third meaning of the words "except" and "salvation" is in writing - the future deliverance of believers at the Second Coming of Christ.
      Rom 5:9
How much more then, since we are justified by his blood, we shall be saved through him from the wrath.
Of course there is alway `s Super Christians get saved do not belong to any particular church, saying that Catholics are not saved, this is of course selfish and demonic hatred.

  4. Edge says:

I think many Catholics are Christians. I will not say everything, I do not believe that any denomination can truly say that follow are all Christians. But I also think that Catholicism has incorporated many man-made traditions that do not serve a point or bringing people to Jesus. You have to understand if the Catholics to bring some of this to theirselves. The comments I've seen here about Catholics, the only true church. Variations on this theme. The Catholic superiority complex I often see here can be very annoying.

  5. Wizzle says:

    1. Were added to the Scriptures (the Apocrypha!)
      2. Jesus said, "I am the way, truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through me ". Catholic priests used as intercessors.
      3. The Catholic Church teaches that it is the only source of salvation for sinners. The Bible teaches that Christ is the only source of salvation.
      4. Catholics believe that baptism saves. That is false. Salvation must precede baptism.
      5. Catholics believe the Pope is infallible. This is not true! The Bible clearly says that only God is infallible, but all men are evil and corrupt.
      6. The Catholic Church believes in salvation through the sacraments. The Bible is clear - the grace through faith in Christ. Salvation by works is a lie. The Bible says our righteousness is as filthy (menstrual) rags.
      7. The concept of transubstantiation - the water of the fellowship is to be the body of Christ order of priests (and not symbolically, but literally). This is blasphemy and comes from the Babylonian sun worship.
      8. Catholics teach that Mary is a source of salvation. Christ is the only way.
      9. The sacrament of extreme unction has absolutely no biblical basis whatsoever.
      10. Catholics believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the only accurate source of interpretation of Scripture. The Holy Spirit is the sole interpreter is needed.
These are just the first 10 that came to mind.
If Catholics spent as much time studying the Bible as they do the practice of rituals and traditions, or study the Catechism of the Catholic Church, may be surprised at what they discover.
There is no reason to consider any other text. The Bible is our only chance to get the absolute truth.
EDIT: I am not anti-Catholic. I love Catholics! They are so wrong, and that's the problem. Many Catholics are very devoted to their faith - the problem is that the doctrine is false. I love to see take the power that focus on the ritual and return to prayer and developing a personal relationship with Christ.

  6. wayne t says:

It is true that not all Catholics are Christians, just as not everyone who is inside the walls of the church is a Christian. That really comes down to the basis of their beliefs. Do you believe that Jesus died for the sins? Has unerrant accepted as truth? Then your Christian.

  7. Paul C says:

The only thing I seem to be compatible with all "Christians" Catholic or otherwise and any organized religion in the world is that everyone forgets "Judge not that ye be not judged" but good

  8. SpiritRo says:

Don S IS anti-Catholic, despite his assertions to the contrary. We refer to websites that use Scripture to support what we say, because apparently you can not understand otherwise.
      Stay Catholic sister.

  9. zotta1 says:

The Catholic Church teaches the worship of Mary, the worship of idols, repetitive prayer, prayer to saints, etc.
Worship Mary is not in the Bible and others I have mentioned - the Bible actually says not to do.
The Catholic Church is preaching another Jesus than is found in the Bible - difficult to accept, but true. I am a lapsed Catholic who reads the Bible for 17 years and after realizing that only following the tradition of men that went against the Bible - I left. The best thing I ever did. Praise God.

  10. Gastoune says:

Because we do not know any better dear.
It's mostly due to lack of education. Perhaps reading a few history books can help them if they read, of course.

Most-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A few do not.

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone who professes faith in Jesus as Christ or the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
      Catholics fit this definition.
In the Nicene Creed of 325 AD, the Catholics profess:
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only Son of God, born of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
And will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will never end.
Accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Truly, we are spiritually "born again", just not often use those words.
For a full description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/inde
      With love in Christ.

  13. Chris says:

Catholics teach a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).
Anyone with a false gospel is not saved. Catholics are not saved and are not Christians.

Tell him you are a Christian street one of the many sects Christianities

  15. EXPRESS_ says:

I have the same problem. I do not care .. despite the protestatism .. Catholic Church is the mother of sects protestatism .. left our church to find the false doctrines … are against the habit of the Church of Christ and his apostles .. the Catholic Church is absolutely the first Christian church in the world .. I'm not talking about the Romans or the churches of this .. all of them are Catholic .. follow the same beliefs ..

  16. Dani Marie says:

Hey, being Catholic has nothing to do with being a true Christian or not. If you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior and have accepted His gift of salvation, then you are a Christian. I personally like the names because I think it does more to separate us unite us as the Church (body of believers.) I'm not sure that Catholicism is a denomination, but still do not like people breaking true Christians, in categories such as Lutheran …. in fact I think that's even possible that Lutheran can be considered a sin if you just turn to the teachings of Luther and not paying attention to what the Bible says about things.
I think making the Virgin Mary in something bigger than she is not well … in my opinion and what I believe to be true, Mary, was simply a faithful servant of God, not someone to become a prayer.
(I got the part of the cult of Mary, because I think it being understood differently than it was serious.)

  20. Nina, BaC says:

Catholics are Christians. It's just that there are some concepts that are not bilbical. I have heard that Catholics do not have a good Bible knwledge because they do not read the Bible. Traditions of study.

  21. Godfearing Outdoorsman says:

    Revelation 2:13-17 (King James Version)
13 I know thy works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne: and you hold fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days in which Antipas my faithful witness was killed among you, where Satan lives.
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication.
15So you also to those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which I hate.
16Repent, or else I will come soon and fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches, to him who overcomes I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, that no man who knows receives it.
The answer you're looking for is in verses 14 and 15.

The World Council of Churches, which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories around the world, representing some 550 million Christians accept the 1.1 billion Catholics and Christians .
This is only the beginning of a one world church.
This is what Jesus has to say to the 340 names.
      Revelation 2:20
However, I have this against you, that you suffer that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit fornication and eat things sacrificed to idols.
      Revelation 17
1 and came one of the seven angels having the seven bowls came and talked to me, saying, "Come, I'll show you the punishment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Fornication 2With the kings of the earth have committed, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her fornication.
3SO took me in the Spirit into the desert and saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
    4Y the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication;
5 and on her forehead a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE EARTH abominations.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her I wondered with great admiration.
7Y the angel said unto me: Why did you marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and beast that carries her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8The beast that you saw was, and is not, and shall ascend from the abyss and go into perdition: and the inhabitants of the earth whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet it is.
9y here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.
10y are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other has not yet come, and when he cometh, he must continue a short time.
11 and the beast that was, and is not, is an eighth, and is one of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12And the ten horns you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom yet, but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13These have one mind, and give their power and authority to the beast.
14These shall make war against the Lamb and the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called, chosen and faithful.
15And he said to me: The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.
16 And the ten horns you saw the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and agree and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God was fulfilled.
18And the woman you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.

  22. Born-Again Catholic says:

Welcome to the world of anti-Catholic bigotry. It's been around a long time. In reality, only the fulfillment of Scripture:
"Blessed are you when men hate you,
      when excluded, insulted
and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. "(Luke 6:22)
As for other Christians who are doing this, forgive them, too, because the prejudice against his brothers is a sin: "Whoever loves his brother in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But he who hates his brother, in the darkness and walks in darkness does not know where it goes, because the darkness has blinded him. "(1 John 2:10-11)
I do not buy for a minute that Catholic bashers "love" us and produce a long list of accusations against the Church based on his concern that we are "wrong."
Maybe Catholics can do in response to this is to dig in and learn more about what the Church teaches, and become very familiar with the biblical basis of the doctrines of the Church. This means doing some homework, if our catechesis has not been enough - or do not pay attention - and a good place to start is by studying the Bible and the Catechism of side to side. Our main problem is the inability of some Catholics to express the truth of our faith with such ease and lightness as "Christians of the Bible." But we can change that.
Edit: The more "thumbs down" I get, the more I think that may have touched a nerve - and, interestingly, it shows my point. I really feel that "love".

  23. Robin says:

A response to objections from Wizzle:
      1) If you knew your history you would know that 7 books were removed from the original Christian Bible about 500 years ago. Nothing has been added 7 books were brought out. Check your history.
      2) Jesus, God set it up to God will forgive those who apologize to specific men (priests and bishops). Jesus was given authority on earth to forgive sins of men (Matthew 6:8). Only God forgives sins, and He can do it any way he wants. Whether asking God directly or through a priest.
      3) Christ is the only source of salvation. The Church is the Body of Christ. Therefore, salvation is found through the Church.
      4) The baptism does not save? "These were the spirits of those who had not obeyed God when he waited patiently for the days when Noah built the boat. The few people on the boat — — eight in all were saved by water, which was a symbol pointing to baptism, now saves you. "(1 Peter 3:20-21)

Nina: Sister properly.Look been informed how many of them to answer a question will refer to a website instead of scripture.Minnow Simon was a Catholic priest in church. He heard they had put a young man to death to be re-baptized.He states in his testimony that he opened his Bible and read for the first time the words "Repent and be baptized" Acts 2:38, "He that believeth and is baptized will be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned "Mark 16:16. How can a baby Repent or believe? Everything I had learned what I wanted to know. At a time when the laity were forbidden to read the Word of God.They boast and say that if, if not for the Catholic church do not even have Bibles. But story tells of two men who were persecuted by the Church Catholic church to translate the Bible into English.
1384 AD: Wycliffe is the first person to produce a (handwritten) original copy of the entire Bible, all 80 books.
1526 AD: William Tyndale New Testament, the New Testament for the first time in the English language.
