The congregation sat down, then the coffin is wrapped in, and placed before the altar. The priest comes down and blesses the coffin (actually the body, although it remains closed casket) with holy water and offering a few prayers for the dead. After that is almost the same as any other mass to the end, when the priest offers prayers for the dead last before the coffin was removed. There may be a short eulogy from the pulpit offered, however, is optional.

My family is Catholic and I've been to many funerals in my life. The coffin is opened in the wake of "alias" vision ". Then is closed and transferred to the church where the priest says his own, then ushers take the coffin to the hearse and everyone follows him to the cemetery with its lights on. Those bringing the coffin to the grave, the priest says a few things, and lower it into the ground. then the person closest to the deceased often have s ahndful and throws dirt on the coffin and begin the rest of the gravediggers shovel dirt on top while the funeral procession leaves. then each one goes to someone's house and gets drunk. I never saw the blanket that we speak, nor serve communion to remember ....

Having been in the funeral of my aunt, grandfather, grandmother, cousin, friend and father / leader of Boy Scout, I can not remember the coffin was opened in the Mass of the Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered to the usual time, towards the end of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, which comes after the Liturgy of the Word. The two readings of Scripture and the Gospel reading occur during the Liturgy of the Word as a standard of mass, and the homily normally scans a person and / or death (enter eternal life).

Depends on the funeral home. I was in on Monday my friend Keri's funeral and his coffin was not there (the autopsy had not yet completed). It is a standard of mass, and is "normal", except the priest gives the homily on the life of the deceased. There is also a short eulogy by someone in the family or one of his closest friends sometimes.

is usually called Pall. Using a rich piece of cloth to cover the coffin during the funeral grew during the Middle Ages, initially these were brightly colored and printed, then only black and white later. Usually they were then given to the Church to use for ornaments or other decorations. Hope that helps =]
