It seems a bit strange that intelligent people (scientists) can have these beliefs, but that's okay. Why would it be?
You need to be educated on the term "theory". I have no desire to.
It is true … Many people (religions, * ahem *) do not accept that many things are unknown. You know what a cosmologist become a cosmologist? Do not know.
Do not confuse fact with a theory with a hypothesis.

Most atheists are reasonable people who are not against religion or God, you just decide it's not for them.
Besides, science does not matter what religion you follow or not follow, the science is only concerned with the truth.

I'm agnostic, a former Catholic. I do not mind, why would it be? I am proud that a Catholic priest who founded the theory. The position of the Church today is to believe in the Big Bang and evolution is not contrary to being a Christian. So this should not bother the Christians or atheists. This shows that human curiosity is innate in people and that there is nothing wrong with looking for answers.
