If Catholics are not engaged in Idol Worship, how about Hinduism?

In my eyes, when cathlolic churches are full of statues of Jesus, Mary, the apostles and members of the clergy, and people pray in front of the statues, which seems to be the worship of idols.
However, over and over again, Catholics insist that they are dedicated to the worship of idols, so I'm thinking, how do you define worship idols?
A Catholic Catholics insisted I not participate in the worship of Hindu idols, but because their churches are full of statues of various Hindu gods …..
Indian Catholics consider the idol worshipers?
I do not see a difference, two religions seem to practice the worship of idols …

Catholics seem to take great care in explaining that the idols they worship are not gods, but the Saints, etc.
No matter what you call the entity that represents the subject, yet is the worship of idols.

  2. jinengli says:

Catholics pray before statues or images, but do not pray to statues or images, pray to God.
I do not know enough about the Hindu religion to say whether or not they pray to their images.
I think they are wrong in their beliefs, believing in more than one God.

  3. Controlled Chaos says:

They believe that the worship of idols to worship an idol that is not theirs. Somehow, my badly drawn (pulled it out myself) image of Aphrodite, is an idol, but his 7-foot statue of a bleeding Jew being tortured to death is not. A little hypocritical, do you think?
Saythey Many of these comments are not worshiping the statue, who worship the deity respresents, which is the same for all religions that use any form of idol. A little hypocritical, ya think?

  4. Tahuti says:

Catholics do not participate in Hinduism.
Oh, you mean that Catholics worship false idols? (because the Bible says "false idols") relevant to consider Jesus, Mary and the Apostles false.
~ You say: "You idiot." Does this mean I'm an idiot? or I'm an idiot? If you are really saying I'm an idiot, so I would not disagree with you there. But definitely do not have any idiots.

  5. Marysia says:

    Why is God acting talent?
      Why have photos at home?
when you kneel in prayer beside his bed - Do you love your mattress?
when you pray next to a loved one who is sick or dying - Are you worshiping them?
requesting an answer and reject what we say …. The statues are there for someone's talent. they are there to remind us that - humans can only devote his life fully to God's plan.
Catholics are wise enough and mature enough to be able to understand - the statues mean nothing, only beautiful things that remind us that we too can be like Christ in all our actions, thought and action.

    Both the idol worshipers

    Both are idol worshipers.

    I agree, both deepening idolatry.

I think said it best "In my eyes." In other words, how you see things, rather than how things are.

  10. abaft33 says:

    Yes, both worship idols.

  11. C.R. says:

    They both do so.

  12. abaft03 says:

    They both do so.

N, where Hindus in the authentic text (Vedham) made mention of idol worship.
Even when the devil Hiranya sri.Prahlatha asks his son, "Where is your God? - Sri. Prahlatha answers "where is not there? The devil calls in this pillar? Son says "yes" - devil gives a blow to the pillar with his mighty sword of God Nrsimha immediately exits.
"It Quasau, Quasau (where wgere) Sakala Jagat Hari aathma Prabhanthay-Smasthambam Ithier (blow the pillar)-karavalo Zarith (with the mighty sword in hand)
The idol worship is only a'freedom "given to people of average intelligence
A Brahma Gjnaani not need another idol worship - Ned does not perform any ritual - no need to go to any temple or church — deep meditation is simple enough to Moksham (salvation).

  14. BlueMant says:

Idolatry is usually defined as the worship of any cult image, idea or object, as opposed to the worship of one God monothestic. It is considered a grave sin in the Abrahamic religions whereas in religions where the activity is not considered as sin, the term "idolatry" itself is absent. What images, ideas and objects, constitute idolatry, and constitute reasonable worship, is a matter of contention with some religious authorities and groups using the term to describe some other religions besides their own. "

  15. Born-Again Catholic says:

Ah, you are once again duck the person.
Let the Hindus of this, okay? Because obviously are not their goals - just a red herring brought to another rant against Catholics.
How do you define idolatry? When it comes to the statues, which loves wood, plaster, marble, plastic or figure as a god. This is also how most people define it.
Now, how, regardless of his co-pilot, go to prove that anyone near a statue being worshiped? Do you have a special gift to know their hearts?
No, no. The key phrase is "my eyes". You base your diatribe idolatry of what "seems" to you.
Getting to some evidence of idolatry than walking and quacking of ducks, my friend. It's a lame argument.
Edit: Have you ever "consider" (It's spelled consider, of course) that the set free in the abuse scandal to a question from otherwise unrelated - twice now, including the endearing comment about "a religion that promotes child abuse "in his last - is standing on the backs of the victims of it? How very Christian of you.

  16. Aleria says:

In their further responses I guess you're not really seeking an answer, right next to someone with you.
But I'll answer anyway … or you could look at the question before yours and see my answer, because ultimately, be the same.
I do not know much about Hindu and I will not pretend that it will not respond to that part of your question.
But I am Catholic and I know not to worship idols.
Again, I am pressed to say the sentence * * * does not equal worship * as this seems to be a common misunderstanding.
If you look up the definition of prayer or praying, which is making a request for Ernesto, a plea. People who say "Please say …" do not worship the person they were asking for, which meant "please tell me …"
If you kneel before a Christmas tree that occurs under the same place, are you worshiping the tree? No, of course not! But what looks like someone did not know about Christianity?
You see a person kneeling before a tree that has been decorated with lights and shiny objects and you are placing gifts underneath it. Certainly sounds like a cult, right?
But you and I know we are not worshiping a tree, when we do.
Same thing. Yes, some kneel before a statue of Mary, or even carry roses, but that's not the same as worship. We are giving her honor as the Mother of God. If Jesus is my brother and my father's God, then Mary must be my mother.
We show respect for being the Mother of God, being the first Christians and as the Arc of life and bring the Living Word as the Ark was the written Word.
The Archangel Gabriel kneeling before Mary and said, "Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you!" The first part of our prayer.
Elizabeth said: "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." In the second half.
The Virgin following: Holy Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. "
How is that worship? We Askin she pray for us. Why is it so different to ask your friend to pray for you?
If you believe that Jesus destroyed death, then you must believe that those who have gone before us still live. Therefore, we are not praying to the dead and it is through prayer that we can communicate with them.
People who say their grandfather dead "Please, please help me with this!" Not to worship him.
And it is the same for Catholics. We know what we believe and know that only God gives worhsip.
Do you pray before the Bible? Do you love your Bible? Or do they use it as a tool to pray to God? Because you know, "my eyes" seem to pray to the Bible and not God. Therefore you must be an idol worshiper!
