If the Catholic Church can get rid of purgatory, why is not celibacy, as well?
Celebacy'm talking about the priests and nuns.
If Catholics can suppress the purgatory, why can not break the celibacy? It's human nature that hormones, and even the Bible encourages procreation. A great example of celibacy Eunuchs (sp?) In the story, which was celibate and were castrated to better serve their leader. The problem with celibacy in the Catholic Church is the man. Catholicism is a monarchy and the Pope is their king.

Here is something of a humorous note:
A young novice monk arrives at the monastery and as such all new monks, is assigned to assist their colleagues in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He realizes, however, that all the monks are working from copies, not from the original manuscript.
So the new monk goes to the abbot to question this protocol, stating that if one were to do, but an insignificant error in the first copy, most likely never would have noticed. In fact, that error was continued until satiation in all subsequent backups.
The head monk replied, "We have been copying well for centuries, but that make a good point, my son."

For your information, purgatory is a creation of the RC Church for years as a tactic to raise funds. All I had to do to get the soul of a loved one to leave purgatory was to order a mass for them. Usually had a price. And, of course, the masses more, the better!
Christians seem to edit many gods do not.
The priesthood is not just a job is a vocation. The Church never got rid of purgatory. I do not know where you get your misinformation. Serving the priests of the Community. Can you imagine the conflict trying to serve a woman and the community?

You, the resolution of celibacy is a papal bull of Gregory X. Strange an atheist is a man made tradition called the Church when in fact it views as a man made religion.
References to a place of purification (where his purging of their sins) are already at the beginning of the third century (Clement of Alexandria) and frequently referred to and after the canonization of the Bible (which decided which books should go to the Bible) in 390CE. Although no direct references to purgatory were elected in 390CE, it was recognized that the concept was worthy of joining the church publications. The Church, the Roman Catholic Church, it still includes his teachings on purgatory in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I'm not exactly sure why some evangelicals are so quick to lie about their stay in the Catholic tradition, which seem to enjoy ridiculing believers enough you'd think they want to stay around.
I agree with you that Catholicism is more like a monarchy than any other Christian church that I am familiar. I'm pretty sure that if a papal bull was issued alowing priests to marry would be confirmed by the hierarchy. That said I think many of the religious orders include vows of chastity in their rights of initiation, so I'm not sure how much real change would be, but the practice of celibacy is committed effectivly.

Well you know the Bible about how people feel being gay or bisexual, as appropriate and be so proud of it, among other things. Celibacy, I would not have thought he knew what it meant or how to spell I'm very impressed. wow
The Catholic Church had abolished purgatory only downplays the teachings. Even there, however. Celibacy is a tradition and could be reversed if the Church really wanted to get rid of it. There is no overwhelming demand for it at the moment but sometime in the future could be and that the Church could change its views on the celibacy of its clergy. One might compare to the Catholic Church to the monarchy if you will, but the pope is not the king. The Pope is a representative of Christ on earth, the Vicar of Christ. He is only the latest in a long line of Catholic leaders from the apostle Peter who was the first leader of the Catholic Church. This line of succession has continued uninterrupted since then. So the church can put an end to celibacy, it is not a church dogma, but a tradition, but sees no need to do now.
I think it is time to do. It would relieve much of child abuse.
Of course, the Bible speaks of celibacy. It was a comon practice in St. Paul Jewish faith and encouraged him to continue the people who serve God in Christianity. The Church can not abolish mandatory celibacy and allow priests to marry, but right now it does not. The religious orders of the Catholic Church does not regulate whether members of religious orders, Order priests, nuns, monks, sisters and brothers are forced to remain celibate. Purgatory is a doctrine of the Church and can not be "eliminated."
The Catholic Church has a long history of picking and choosing which parts of the Bible they like or dislike. Celibacy is something that Paul suggested, but not mandatory.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 7: 25-31, 36-40)
"The virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord, but give my opinion as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy. I think that in view of the impending crisis, it's good to stay as is. Are you bound to a wife? Do not want to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not look for a wife. But if you marry, NO sin, and if you marry a virgin, not sin. However, those who marry will experience distress in this life, and I would like to spare. If anyone thinks that is not behaving properly toward his betrothed, if his passions are strong, so it must be, what he wishes to marry, not a sin. They marry. But if someone is steadfast in its determination, with no need, but with his own desire under control, and determined in his own mind to keep her as his girlfriend, he'll do well. So the man who marries his fiancee does well, and he who refrains from marriage will do better.

Purgatory is nothing in the Bible, however. If someone can prove me wrong, I'd love to know. A Christian does not need to be "cleaned" once I die. We have been cleansed by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and subsequent resurrection. Or do you all think that this is not good enough? Purgatory was something to blackmail people with. When people finally realize that Purgatory was never mentioned in the Bible, the Catholic Church had to renounce it. Celibacy is a different matter, and is only suggested, as you said, in order to dedicate himself more fully to Jesus. Castrating ourselves as it takes shape, however. Celibacy is an option, and even Catholic priests have chosen as a matter of course, you really do not have to go through life single. There is a difference between the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Word of God in the Bible. Please do not confuse the celibacy of Catholic priests, with what Jesus would say.
The Catholic Church has not ended purgatory. It's part of what we believe as Catholics. Purgatory is a place of purgation (something like a stop at the cleaners) to all pure and clean before entering the Holy Presence of God.
