Second of a whole, not sure if any of these are pieces of the True Cross. The Vatican has never ruled on this issue. Until you do not accept it as such. I think it's much more likely that bishops, priests, and vendors who travel to. People who want money and prestige are the most prone to false relics. For this reason, the relics in general do not take mission trips, but are either kept in churches where pilgrims going to offer money or sold to several members of the faithful who would like something sacred. Thus, counterfeit relics of saints is really more of a money-making operation of a conversion effort. The Vatican itself has probably not more counterfeit relics.
