The Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorce.
Jesus said, "Therefore what God has joined no man put asunder." (Mark 10:9)
However, there may be hope of a declaration of invalidity.
The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.
Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.
Then, the parties are free to marry for the first time.
Approach the right person in your parish who has been trained in the process. If you have trouble, you can go directly to the diocese.
Pray, honest and patient. It takes a while. I say the process usually takes one year.
      With love in Christ.

It will take about a year and the process will definitely opened my eyes and make you question what you believe.
My wife and I were married 2 years ago. We did the same, the process of annulment as had been married before. We were told it was basically a foregone conclusion that the cancellation would pass by the church as never really doesn't reject an application for annulment.
This led to the conclusion that the process is a sham and a way for the church receives $ 1,000 from you. I mean once he started the process that put us on a payment plan as if you were buying a car. We received a bill in the mail and everything. It was absurd and eye opening.
That all said I am a proud Catholic, and like any religion feel there are shortcomings as people are flawed and this is an example.
In summary, we found a Lutheran pastor in Nice and were very happy with the dough. The readings are the same as you know. It has been very satisfactory and we do not repent.
      Into account. Good luck!
