Catholics pray to the Lord God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We worship the Lord and Him alone.
Catholcis not believe that the worship to pray =. Techincally Ora means "ask." So we are also asking Mary and other saints to pray with us and for us on issues that concern us. We do not worship Mary and other saints, and simply the action of asking them to intercede for us is a form of worship.
The Hail Mary is two quotations from Scripture + a request to pray to Mary for us.
"Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. (Luke 1:27)
"Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." (Luke 1:48)
"Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death."
Sorry about your husband is so angry. He might want to look at the USCCB website to see the changes that have been made to protect children altar and all the other children in the Catholic Church. Maybe I will feel a little better in the future. (The past is, of course, horrible, little can be done to remedy that.)

pray to Jesus / God, the Hail Mary is asking Mary to pray for them, a bit like asking people you know to pray for you, only it is to Mary. Jesus / God are the only worshipers. I've been to many masses and never once was Mary worshiped. It's just a misconception.

The Father Son and Holy Spirit. And Mary is the Mother of Christ permeated by God through the Immaculate Conception. Probably the closest anyone can come to God and if you believe in God, which is probably worth praying, and is said to be a direct link to it.

Catholics pray to God. We respect and love of Mary, but that's not the same as her worship. People who pray are praying for her to intercede for them before God.
The "Ave Maria" is a sentence that is most often used back before Vatican II (1962). I'm not saying that prayer, but sing like a classical singer.
Text, in general:
Hail Mary, full of grace.
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Santa Maria,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death.

If your husband goes to church is not a Catholic was very good and it is not at all now. Catholics pray to God — Father Son and Holy Spirit — also speak of the Blessed Virgin Mary to ask her to intercede with us to Jesus. Only worship God. I pity your husband seems to have been very happy this "convenient" excuse was time for his sin.

1) The Hail Mary prayer is derived from the Gospel of Luke
2) was her husband abused - then its time as an altar boy held the Lord's service. My father was an altar boy
3) a very small portion of the priests are sick and twisted - there are more parents who abuse their children, then the priests - Are you at risk?
4) We believe in ourselves and recognize Gos Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
5) We ask the intercession of others
6) I know personally of a Baptist ministers and nondenominational Protestants who have abused children. these have rarely made the news. Not afraid of all the denominations.

Yes, but we pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, Mary, Mary is special, but also have to stand before God with the rest of us the day of the trial, which is human like us.
